A list of puns related to "Gautama Buddha"
I am new to Buddhism and I noticed that many of The Buddhaβs teachings are targeted at those who chose to live a monastic life, I have a book about the speeches of The Buddha and they are mostly told to monks. I want to know if you know any good reads that only focus on the teachings for laymen. Thanks!
Dont know much about them
Those words hold little value to me, but it is clear from my life story and path that, in my physical form, I have traveled the same path as the leaders we all look up to from our past who changed the world in drastic ways.
I could use various other terms, al-KΔmil, Tzaddiq, bhavyata, daigo-tettei, Christ, Krishna consciousness, the list goes on for a while.
We all know that we're supposed to kill the Buddha in the road, but what happens when there's nothing left to kill?
We all have Buddha-nature. It is my hope and goal to help everyone see it. Bhedabheda, tat tvam asi.
Feel free to check out my work and join the discussions at r/massawakening
Siddharta Gautama formulated the 4 noble truths and taught them to the world, and today everyone who recognizes them and calls them a buddhist has indirectly learned them from Siddharta Gautama.
But were there people before him who similarly reached those realizations and became enlightened, just that they did not teach them (or their teachings did not survive?). If so, were those people buddhas too?
And I guess as a parallel question, might people have lived who reached the same conclusions as the first buddha after him but independently, and became enlightened on their own (in 4th century Russia, 12th century south america, or when/wherever that may have been)

CORRECTION!!!!:
I made a mistake, Siddhartha Guatama DIED in the Republic of Malla, he was BORN in the Republic of Shakya, so the question still stands but I just wanted to clarify since this got some attention

First of all, I had always heard that Siddhartha was a prince, but it seems that while his family was rich and powerful, they weren't exactly nobility, so I feel that was straight up false advertising
Second, my understanding is that republics were uncommon in the past, so much so that the few republics that existed are quite famous like Rome, Athens, or Venice, that's why I was so surprised to hear that there was a republic so far back in India
Now what I want to know is how that republic came to be, how democratic it was, and if there were other republics like it or if it was an oddity in the region
Thanks
I know that Buddha means βawakened oneβ and it refers to him after his awakening. What I mean is that it seems that the title βBuddhaβ does not seem to appear in the Pali Canon. I've only seen Tathagatha or Bhagavan in there (unless I'm mistaken, let me know). So when and where was it first used? (Textual references would be appreciated.)
There are many stories of the miracles of Buddha like walking on water, walking through walls, becoming invisible, levitation, and making copies of himself. How did Gautama Buddha attain such abilities?
Then, in the beginning of Kali Yuga, Lord Vishnu will appear on Earth as Lord Buddha, in the province of Gaya, just for the purpose of deluding those atheists who are envious of the faithful theist.
- Srimad Bhagavatam 1.3.24
When the atheists, after being well versed in the Vedic scientific knowledge, annihilate inhabitants of different planets, flying unseen in the sky on well-built rockets prepared by the great scientist Maya, Lord Vishnu will bewilder their minds by dressing Himself attractively as Buddha and will preach on sub-religious principles.
- Srimad Bhagavatam 2.7.37
I remember, O Sage! the return of a hundred Kali Yuga ages, and a hundred incarnations of Hari in the form of Buddha, and as the son of royal Suka or Suddhadana in the land of Kirata.
- Yoga Vasistha 6.22.16
To diminish the burden of the earth, the unborn Lord will take birth in the Yadu dynasty and perform feats impossible even for the demigods. Propounding speculative philosophy, the Lord, as Buddha, will bewilder the unworthy performers of Vedic sacrifices. And as Kalki the Lord will kill all the low-class men posing as rulers at the end of the Age of Kali.
- Srimad Bhagavatam 11.4.22
The entire Chapter of Vishnu Purana Book 3 Chapter 18 is dedicated to the Buddha Avatar, and how he stopped the Daityas from taking advantage of Vedic Knowledge!
Anybody who says that Gautama Buddha is not an Avatar of Vishnu is disagreeing with the Srimad Bhagavatam, Yoga Vasistha and Vishnu Purana!
This is a question that has been bugging me lately, and itβs a very uncomfortable one that makes you question not only the world, but the very path that leads to no more rebirths in the world.
It seems odd to even follow any other path than the one the Buddha himself taught. How do we know those other paths are true? How can we discern this? I hope this does not come across as disparaging to other schools, as I do not even follow a single school myself at the moment. Iβm just trying to figure things out.
He was a prince of his lands, living a luxurious life at the leisure of slaves who seemed overjoyed to serve him.
And then he stumbled across the true life that the lower classes were living and his illusions were shattered, whereupon he withdrew from the palace while adopting a pseudonym as a wandering teacher.
Because without compassion for the entirety of Body, Mind, and Spirit within a human, you aren't getting the whole picture.
Forgive me if this has been asked and answered here before, but as I study both Buddhism and Hinduism I'd like to know how these things overlap but from the perspectives of actual Hindus. Thanks in advance!

We saw him as a Buddha, did he ever see himself as so?
