[TOMT][TV/Movie][2010-present] TV show or movie with a character that is played by Devin Ratray or look-a-like.

The actor/character looks exactly like Tinfoil Kevin from The Tick. I think the character is wealthy, from a love story, maybe a slightly depressed character. It may also be a sort of comedic role as well. The show or movie may have been on Netflix some time in the past few years. I'm sorry I can't provide more information but that's all I can think of. Anyway thanks for any help you can provide!

The Letter From Silent Heaven, 1991 (Silent Hill 2)

Emilio Estevez (29) as James Sunderland

Julia Louis-Dreyfus (30) as Mary Sheperd-Sunderland/Maria

Kirsten Dunst (9) as Laura

Winona Ryder (20) as Angela Orosco

Devin Ratray (14) as Eddie Dombrowski

Directed by Adrian Lyne

I created this because I was curious how it would look if the Silent Hill games were made into movies in the year they are set in. Silent Hill 2 happens in the early to mid 90s, so I made a fancast of who would play the characters in, say 1991, as well as who would direct it.

Side Note: I know Devin Ratray would have been way too young to do this, but i couldn't find any noticable actors that had a lot of weight on them without getting into, like, John Candy comedic actor territory

IJW: Home Sweet Home Alone (2021)

https://jwwreviews.blogspot.com/2021/11/home-sweet-home-alone.html

5.5/10

In the 6th Home Alone installment streaming on Disney+, Max Mercer (played by Archie Yates) predictably finds himself home alone for Christmas when his family and extended family misses him when they go on a trip. He ends up protecting his house with the usual HA traps from couple Pam and Jeff McKenzie (Rob Delaney and Kimmy Schmidt's Ellie Kemper) who are trying to retrieve a valuable doll he took from them.

HSHA suffers from being a rather basic children's film, which like all the sequels just couldn't quite match the magic of the original. (To be fair, I think HA3 is underappreciated.) Though this definitely has a bigger budget and cast behind it than the last two made-for-TV versions that you may not have even known existed, this movie still has a very-made-for-TV feel to it. It doesn't help that Max is a straight up rude brat, not simply rough around the edges like the original Kevin McCallister.

To make it clear, I'm not saying this is a downright bad movie, just mediocre. I see a lot of people online hating this, but I think it's fault is being unable to make the material sparkle rather than bad writing. This is written by SNL actor/writer Mikey Day and College Humor alumni/SNL writer Streeter Seidell (they co-wrote the popular David S. Pumpkins sketch) and it feels like they were trying. There are some fun lines in this and one laugh-out-loud moment near the end. Also, the movie does have a sweet scene in this that actually manages to fill the expected HA touching moment quota without falling into the hole of simply replicating the misunderstood old man moment that 2 and 3 did.

I'll give the writers this, they definitely knew how to handle the setup. Rather than predictably spend a lot of time watching Max getting frustrated with his family like in the first film, they go through it quickly, because we all know how this goes. (Admittedly, we barely get a feel for what Max's father is like.) I'm also pleased that this avoids the bullying older sibling trope that appeared in the first three films. The script also does a surprisingly valid job of explaining why Max isn't picked up by the cops when his parents realize he's missing.

The best part of this are definitely the foils the McKenzies. Of all the pretenders to the Wet Bandits' thrown, I've got to say that these are probably the franchise's best home invader replacements. (Not to knock the quartet from HA3, again u

Why situation around Home Sweet Home Alone seems off

So, I will streamline things a bit, because I tend to overexplain. If you want citations and references I will be eager to provide them, but so far I just wanted to share this.

When they announced Home Sweet Home Alone they nearly adamantly confirmed a Culkin cameo and that was not on a conceptual stage in the production, it was pretty much near the start of filming. A year or so passes and we have a trailer that receives an awful lot of backlash, that is poorly edited and, to add insult to injury, has Buzz, but no Kevin. A lot of major websites doesn't seem to notice that Culkin confirmed on his Twitter that he is not in the movie and still gives that information in the news, further angering the audiences.

Why things doesn't add up? Because they seem to be too convenient. A lot of people got hooked waiting for this film, because it was explicitly announced that Culkin will be there, Devin Ratray (Buzz) will be there and you should wait for even more cameos. They drop the trailer, they set the date as November 12, which is a bit earlier than Christmas movies usually premiere (for comparison: first two movies opened on November 16 and November 20) and they collect a lot of massive backlash, generating a buzz (no pun intended). The buzz is even further generated with a delayed realization of Culkin confirmation.

They're pulling a Sonic the Hedgehog. It was one of last year's biggest hits, because audience was won over by director and studio actually going back and fixing the issue evident from the first trailer.

Blatant issue in this case? Absence of Kevin. They might even already have a cameo in the can and have Culkin under non-disclosure agreement which are becoming more harsh and there are confirmed cases of people outright lying that they're not in the production (Tom Ellis in Crisis on Infinite Earths and the recent media circus regarding everyone but Andrew Garfield knowing that he is in the new Spider-Man movie). Even if they're not, going back and filming even a substantial supporting role is something Disney is known for. They revised several Marvel movies mere days before the release.

SERIOUS: This subreddit needs to understand what a "dad joke" really means.

I don't want to step on anybody's toes here, but the amount of non-dad jokes here in this subreddit really annoys me. First of all, dad jokes CAN be NSFW, it clearly says so in the sub rules. Secondly, it doesn't automatically make it a dad joke if it's from a conversation between you and your child. Most importantly, the jokes that your CHILDREN tell YOU are not dad jokes. The point of a dad joke is that it's so cheesy only a dad who's trying to be funny would make such a joke. That's it. They are stupid plays on words, lame puns and so on. There has to be a clever pun or wordplay for it to be considered a dad joke.

Again, to all the fellow dads, I apologise if I'm sounding too harsh. But I just needed to get it off my chest.

Just because it's a joke, doesn't mean it's a dad joke

Alot of great jokes get posted here! However just because you have a joke, doesn't mean it's a dad joke.

THIS IS NOT ABOUT NSFW, THIS IS ABOUT LONG JOKES, BLONDE JOKES, SEXUAL JOKES, KNOCK KNOCK JOKES, POLITICAL JOKES, ETC BEING POSTED IN A DAD JOKE SUB

Try telling these sexual jokes that get posted here, to your kid and see how your spouse likes it.. if that goes well, Try telling one of your friends kid about your sex life being like Coca cola, first it was normal, than light and now zero , and see if the parents are OK with you telling their kid the "dad joke"

I'm not even referencing the NSFW, I'm saying Dad jokes are corny, and sometimes painful, not sexual

So check out r/jokes for all types of jokes

r/unclejokes for dirty jokes

r/3amjokes for real weird and alot of OC

r/cleandadjokes If your really sick of seeing not dad jokes in r/dadjokes

Punchline !

Edit: this is not a post about NSFW , This is about jokes, knock knock jokes, blonde jokes, political jokes etc being posted in a dad joke sub
