I currently work the front desk at a dental office. I love my job, but the pay and benefits aren’t ideal. At the same time my husband has a great paying job so I don’t feel obligated to make more money.
There are times where I do get frustrated about not having growth opportunities available in the dental field which is really the only reason along with pay and benefits that I consider leaving. There are a few other aspects of the job that are not appealing and can be frustrating. (At the same time all jobs have those aspects).
I have an amazing boss with amazing coworkers. My boss is more than willing to give me raises whenever I ask for them. He has never denied me of one anyways. I might be getting close to the ceiling there though, but I don’t know that for sure.
An opportunity with Delta Air Lines literally fell in my lap recently. One of my favorite patients at the office I work at asked me if I was looking for something. It sounded like a fun job. The pay is not going to be much better and it may even pay less. However there are flight benefits available and more PTO which is amazing. There would also be some growth opportunities.
Whenever I think about leaving my job at the dental office I get so sad and seriously ball my eyes out. (What is wrong with me?) My coworkers have become my best friends, and I genuinely look forward to work and am never dreading Monday.
I always end up job searching for some reason despite how good I have it where I work. I tend to focus on what my job title is and start to feel lame. Do I stay in a job I love and risk never growing further? Or would you risk losing the job you love for more growth opportunities, pay and benefit potential?
e.g. The Nestlé variant, the BP variant, the Monsanto variant, the Philip Morris variant etc.
