My 3 year old picked a David Attenborough doc out of the Netflix queue
And I am practically weeping. Not only are we NOT watching the same cartoon for the billionth time, she's asking me every few minutes what each animal is called.
She's up very early bc she's under the weather, despite this she is genuinely entertained.
I can't believe it.
Edit: it lasted exactly 25 minutes before she wanted to switch to Storybots Christmas. Oh well, it was good while it was good.

Everyone here should watch David Attenborough's 2021 Netflix film 'Breaking Boundaries: The science of our planet' (74 mins)
I watched this last night and as an environmental science student it blew me away; its the first climate related film that not only breaks the climate crisis into (9) manageable sections for people to understand but also offers soloution and hard numbers on where the boundaries or 'tipping points' are for each.
It is a must watch to anyone suffering from climate anxiety like myself. It also mentions collapse in a realistic way, its a must watch for this sub.

I cannot be the only one who gets stoned and watches all those nature shows. David Attenborough feels like he should be a natural treasure.
The planet is beautiful and weβre so lucky to have it. I hope we get our act together and stop hurting it. Nature is so fucking cool & it makes me think about the cycle of life in a way thatβs much less scary then how humans experience it.
Sometimes these shows are the only thing that calm my anxiety. Sometimes I forget that itβs cool to be alive.
Iβm thankful for weed for keeping me grounded and lifted at the same time.
Iβm thankful for this subreddit and all of you. I hope you found a reason to smile today.

What does Sir David Attenborough mean by this about average temperature of our planet?
This is what he narrated in his recent documentary series "The Perfect Planet" Episode 03: Weather (11:20) "The average temperature of our planet hasn't varied by more than single degree Celsius in ten thousand years. This has made our climate - stable. Allowing animals to fine tune their behaviors around predictable weather patterns."
I am not very well educated on climate issues but it doesn't sound right. Isn't our planet getting warmer? Am i misunderstanding it, educate me please.
