A list of puns related to "Comparative politics"
hi, iβm a y1 chs student (intending to major in pol sci) looking to take this module in sem2 but i was unable to find any recent reviews on nusmods or online. i hope that any fellow pol sci majors who have taken this mod recently can help me out by telling me whether itβs worth taking it or better to just straightaway pursue the other comparative politics modules?
thank you!
Hello everyone!
I know academia is a gamble but I was hoping to get some insight. I'm older than a typical PhD applicant and it would definitely help if I could stay in the DC area.
Could anyone give me more insight at the higher potential after getting a PhD from Georgetown, George Mason George Washington or American University in the Comparative Politics/International Relations field? With a research focus on Afghanistan.
Honestly I would be happy if I obtained an assistant professor position at one of those four universities after completing the PhD.
Again, definitely know it is a gamble to bet on location but thought I'd ask anyways.
Thank you!
For those of you that have taken the class, is it difficult when compared to AP Gov or roughly the same?
Hi, all.
As professionals and academics in the IR field, I wondered if any of you out there possessed degrees in Comparative Politics and if that made finding work opportunities any more difficult? There's a Comparative Politics MSc at the London School of Economics which I have been very interested in applying to, but I am a little concerned that it isn't a widely offered degree and may thus hinder my search for employment.
Thanks!
I'm a sophomore in college and I'm planning on taking it next semester. I've taken an AP World History class in high school and got good grades and a good ap score (I don't know if it has to do much with it).
Need these for my Poly Sci class this Fall and I'm really trying to avoid having to shell out more money to the school that I don't have.

Greatly appreciate if anyone is able to help out here.
I am taking an MA in Political Science. I initially applied for the political theory track but was rejected. I applied again to the comparative politics track and got accepted. But I still have some sympathy for taking the political theory track. I am thinking of asking my adviser if I can take the first subject for the political theory track as an elective so I can get a feel of whether I want to switch tracks.
I have some idea already of the difference between political theory and comparative politics. For one, the normative aspect of studying the political is very different. Clearly there is a norm that is prescribed when it comes to political theory rather than implied in comparative politics. The scientific approach is also different. Sometimes we cannot ask objective questions with falsifiable answers with political theory, not like in comparative politics.
But I am interested to hear other scholar's experiences on this matter if anyone also shifted tracks.
Hey! I really need a textbook, it's called Comparative Politics: Structures and Choices by Barrington Lowell, if any kind soul has it in pdf form or knows of a website where I can find the e-book for a bit cheaper, let me know! Thx :)
Hello I'm from New Zealand and I've chosen India (and Myanmar) for my research essay on comparative politics. I was hoping to ask you all about the general political climate of India I.e. how authoritarian/democratic is the government? How is the government procieved by the public both in terms of the currently elected government and the system itself.
Any other things you want to say about Indian politics I will happily welcome as it would likely give me more to research.
Lastly I'd like to apologise if this breaks any rules (being from New Zealand I don't frequent this subreddit)
Thanks in advance!

I've been "assigned" an essay on the Venezuelan economic crisis by a friend who's trying to help me be a person. It doesn't really call for the degree of rigor and specialisation you'd require from an actual masters level paper, but it should present a decent overview of the trajectory of Venezuela's political institutions and sociocultural background and history, with academic sources and a good deal more depth and rigor than your average news article on the situation in VE. I guess I'm looking for journal articles or books to get me started on this path; even a couple of recommendations will help me immensely, although obviously the more the merrier. Not asking anybody to spoon-feed me, I enjoy the work, but I just need some good indications of where to start.
Thanks in advance to everybody who answers!
This my first post here and I apologize if this has already been covered. I'm currently a teacher teaching US Gov. I'm beginning to explore Masters options for my degree. I've been more and more intrigued by political science since college (my degree was in history) and primarily comparative government. I enjoy reading through the reports from V-Dem and Freedom House and want to explore the current democratic decline and rising authoritarianism at the current moment.
What are the general requirements in a program like this? Is there a need for coding languages to be known? What all would this degree cover? What prerequisites should I have?
Thanks for any help you can give!
