A list of puns related to "Chobham armour"
So you guys know, No MBT in the world today uses "Chobham". Almost everytime people start debating armour composites Chobham is casually thrown into it especially when The british challengers and US Abrams tanks are in the height of debate.
Chobham was the unofficial term given to the new type of armour actually called Burlington being developed in the late 60's 70's. Burlington was to be fitted to the Chieftain tank but it wasnt utilised in the chieftain becuase of complications fitting it into its design but instead later variants of the Chieftain wer equipped with Stillbrew in the 80's.
Challenger 1 fully utilsed the composite array. The composite used was an improvement from Burlington which also improved performance against kinetic penetrators. This was maybe the first iteration of Dorchester but thats not for certain nor is is actual protective qualities.
The US and Germany both used burlington to help develop their own composite design. Yet again we dont know the protective qualities of their composites nor what its comprised off. America does apparently use plates of DU in the array though. Its not made from DU. The hardness of DU helps improve protection to some extent but by no means is it straight out made from the stuff.
Dorchester level 2 became of further improvements to the composite. 2E was applied to the Challenger 1 mk.3 which helped protect it from IED's and other shaped warheads. The Challenger 2 also utilised a form of Level 2 Dorchester in its Turret and hull. Which level 2 variation of it is unknown but in 2003 the 2E from the Challenger 1 mk.3 was applied for the Challenger 2's service in Iraq.
In 2004 Dorchester level 2F replaced the 2E on the Challenger 2 and further improved the protective qualities obviously. Maybe 2E is the same as the turret and hull composite. I dont know.
Nowadays we have the cTES. Current Theatre Entry Standard. Challenger 2 DT22AA otherwise known as Megatron is shown sporting the current TES which also equips large bricks of Dorchester level 2 I. Dorchester level 2 I (improved) is yet again a further develoment of Dorchester and likely gives better kinetic protection than the previous E and F variations.
The current armour package is NOT called Megatron. Megatron is the name given to that Challenger 2. Its a demonstrator vehicle used to present current technolgies and possible future technoligies. Megatron is officially designated DT22AA and was the 2nd to last Challenger 2 built to date. The
... keep reading on reddit β‘I know the devsever hasn't been live for very long time and all the stats can change, but doesn't anyone else find it really weird that stillBrew armor is more effective and has a higher protective rating than the actual Chobham Armour?
What's so different between that and what the Russians use? I know that it's all classified but it seems strange that people say the challenger 2 is the most armoured tank around
WWII saw the defeat of some of the greatest surface combatants known to man. Names like Yamato, Bismark, and Tirpitz have been forever etched into the history books of naval historians. Their sinkings, however, called for massive concentrations of firepower. To sink the Bismark, a single ship, the Royal Navy committed no less then 60 ships to its destruction. Of these ships the Royal Navy committed included 4 battleships, 3 battle cruisers, and at least 1 aircraft carrier. Nearly half of all the Royal Navy's capital ships were committed to the destruction of the one ship.
Similarly, the Yamato and the Tirpitz were highly resilient absorbing successive hits from bombs and torpedoes before sinking. The battleship, even with the technological limitations of armor plate at the time, still showed itself as a highly resilient platform. Furthermore, the firepower of the Iowa Class's 16-inch guns was instrumental in the Pacific in supporting Marines in ground combat operations.
Modern armor has advanced greatly since WWII. The advent of Chobham armor has seen at least a 5-fold increase in plate strength. A modern battleship with this amor could theoretically achieve Yamato levels of protection with light cruiser thicknesses of plate. With plating as thick as the Yamato, the protection afforded would be unprecedented.
Furthermore, a battleship has more firepower, more sustained firepower, and more responsive firepower than a carrier β and the battleshipβs firepower canβt be jammed, decoyed, shot down, or have a pilot captured.
The firepower provided by large caliber naval guns was also shown to be highly effective even as late as the 1982 Falklands War. This was an era in which anti-ship missiles were had by both sides.
The challenger 2 TES has just caught a nerf to its ERS on the side. It previously had 1800mm of chemical protection, however now it only has 600. This basically turns it into a worse, uptiered challenger 2 that is 12 tons heavier with weak ERA protection against HEATFS. Also if the challenger DID have 12 tons of ERA it certainly wouldn't have 300 milimetres of protection.
However, the funniest part about this whole situation is the fact that the Challenger 2 TES doesn't even have ERA, it has about 400 milimetres of Chobham armour ( British composite). This armour would actually perform better than the ERA as it can stop HEAT jets from entering the tank.
The point here is simply.. why? Why doesn't the TES have the composite armour? Balance reasons? Surely not. A decent top-tier round can pen 400mm easily. And, a little disclaimer, I don't actually know the classified information about the MBT and don't want to end up as the last person who wanted the Challenger to be accurately displayed in game.

#Le Corps des Cadavres
QUOD SUMUS HOC ERITIS
Following its successful deployment to Cyprus, Le Corps des Cadavres will undergo a major restructuring initiative designed to formalize the Battle Order of the all-Beneluxian shock unit for the modern battlespace. Capitalizing on the unbreakable morale of Les Psychopompes, the future Corps structure will focus on five 12000-man divisions (subdivided further into three 4000-man Infantry Brigades each) with training in the βDragonslayerβ specialization, with emphasis on counteracting widely-proliferated combat robotics and powered exoarmor at an infantry level. While the majority of the Corps will retain their original self defence force mission in light of the Dragonslayer archetype, a two-division subset of the Cadavers has been organized specifically for STOICS expeditionary deployments, with one emphasizing amphibious and air assault capabilities and the other focusing on Airborne specialization. In order to support the former division, an additional 13 Clac Harald LPDs will be manufactured for the Royal Commonwealth Naval Army to ensure the entire force can be deployed at once.
##Shroud
While the Cypriot deployment saw the Psychopomp detachment equipping various powered exoskeleton solutions, the weight of the Russian TRIBUNAL-VIVEC, its heavy dependence on friendly logistics for recharge, and the foreign supply chain of its components offer several vulnerabilities that are all considered limitations in the Cadaver Corps way of warfighting. STOICS has therefore commissioned development of the Shroud, an ultra-light, completely flexible, and soft exoarmor solution designed to support a various suite of expeditionary operations that rely on improved mobility and independent operation:
I don't want to step on anybody's toes here, but the amount of non-dad jokes here in this subreddit really annoys me. First of all, dad jokes CAN be NSFW, it clearly says so in the sub rules. Secondly, it doesn't automatically make it a dad joke if it's from a conversation between you and your child. Most importantly, the jokes that your CHILDREN tell YOU are not dad jokes. The point of a dad joke is that it's so cheesy only a dad who's trying to be funny would make such a joke. That's it. They are stupid plays on words, lame puns and so on. There has to be a clever pun or wordplay for it to be considered a dad joke.
Again, to all the fellow dads, I apologise if I'm sounding too harsh. But I just needed to get it off my chest.
I am obviously very fun at parties.
Do your worst!
They were cooked in Greece.
I'm surprised it hasn't decade.
Two muffins are in an oven, one muffin looks at the other and says "is it just me, or is it hot in here?"
Then the other muffin says "AHH, TALKING MUFFIN!!!"
Don't you know a good pun is its own reword?
For context I'm a Refuse Driver (Garbage man) & today I was on food waste. After I'd tipped I was checking the wagon for any defects when I spotted a lone pea balanced on the lifts.
I said "hey look, an escaPEA"
No one near me but it didn't half make me laugh for a good hour or so!
Edit: I can't believe how much this has blown up. Thank you everyone I've had a blast reading through the replies π
It really does, I swear!

Edit: Thank you guys for the awards, they're much nicer than the cardboard sleeve I've been using and reassures me that my jokes aren't stale
Edit 2: I have already been made aware that Men In Black 3 has told a version of this joke before. If the joke is not new to you, please enjoy any of the single origin puns in the comments

>SUMMARY: The BAE Charger is a turretless stealth tank with a 120mm ETC-gun akin to the Stridsvagn 103. The turret is sacrificed for improved survivability and weight savings. It is intended to shoot smart rounds to provide the maneuverability the fixed main gun cannot. The BAE Charger excels in non-urban terrain, and is best suited for offensive tactics.

Nothing, he was gladiator.
Or would that be too forward thinking?
Dad jokes are supposed to be jokes you can tell a kid and they will understand it and find it funny.
This sub is mostly just NSFW puns now.
If it needs a NSFW tag it's not a dad joke. There should just be a NSFW puns subreddit for that.
Edit* I'm not replying any longer and turning off notifications but to all those that say "no one cares", there sure are a lot of you arguing about it. Maybe I'm wrong but you people don't need to be rude about it. If you really don't care, don't comment.
