Anyone know where to get some chitterlings(ky oysters)? No stores have any available for 50 miles. S anyone have some extra some sell?
I've tried looking on yelp and google, but haven't found anything. Will be traveling around and would prefer fried to boiled, so if anyone knows any restaurants that serve them, that would be great!
I've had it before but it has nothing to do with money. Mostly it's because as a Puerto Rican growing up we were super broke so we don't waste any food. Not great tasting but it is what was available and we ended up developing a taste for it. Then there's the whole cultural part of things. Some folks just don't like something because they haven't been raised on it, which I understand fully. But I'm sure we all don't judge others who do enjoy such things. I love blood sausages. It's made out of pig intestines and filled with blood, rice, spice and other things. I know others would try it and be grossed out. Lol its all cultural

I'm thinking of this dish from Old Country CafΓ© in the 626 region but wondering if it exists somewhere in the OC.
They called it chitterlings but they don't look like small intestines to me. Sorta more looks like pork uterus you can get a 99 Ranch.

There's one video where he starts talking about how he doesn't like chitterlings because no matter how well they're cooked they always taste like pig poo poo. But it wasn't the main focus of the video so its hard to find. Anyone remember that one?
[Notes: This is meant as another of my reimagined Starfinder races for a homebrew setting. This time, we take on everyone's favorite helpful critters!]
Chitterlings, also known as skittermanders from initial production names, were artificial sentient lifeforms made from highly modified marsupial lineages. After the high profile failure of the ysoki, a transgenics firm needed something to improve their image. So, the skittermanders were born: A race with hypercharged empathy for sentient beings, intended to be companions to children, wards of the state, the disabled, and terminally ill. They succeeded beyond their wildest dreams, as the Final Help video showed.
The Final Help was an infamous online video released by a violent psychotic, ironically assigned a skittermander caretaker by the mental hospital he was consigned to. In that video, the skittermander is seen before a small table with restraints and various sharp implements around it. When the patient asks, the skittermander 'helps' him by climbing into the table and restraining itself. Following this, it begins to mutilate itself with a piece of broken bottle, after the psychopath asks for 'help.' The sickening image of glass unzipping flesh was among the first, and least horrifying of the grotesque spectacle that followed. The skittermander died of self-inflicted trauma, as the maniac laughed.
As such, the Final Help video became a rallying cry for transgenic rights, as well as controversy over skittermanders' specific psychological design. Few skittermanders would be as 'helpful' as to harm themselves or others, but their overcharged empathy makes them perhaps too trusting and naive. This has been rectified through genetic augmentation, according to some, but current results are mixed. They do have a reputation as strong friends to those they trust, willing to die to ensure their companions survive. For that reason, those who'd abuse skittermanders risk offending almost every over sentient species and entity in known space.
So I tried just finding the dish in OC but it didn't work so I now figure that asking where the best one might be.
I've found it at Old Country CafΓ© (closed Monterey Park), believe there's another location. Nice Time CafΓ© in Monterey Park (Atlantic Times Square Plaz) apparently has it so I'm going to try it this weekend.
What about recommendations in general? Anyone have a favorite place to get this uncommon(rare?) dish?
Name of the dish is η½εε°θ Έ. Said as BΓ‘i qiΔ xiΗochΓ‘ng and translates as "White Cut Small Intestine"
