A list of puns related to "Burning Sun scandal"
I think most of us are familiar with the scandal but, many ppl aren't aware of how the whole thing started or mayn't have detailed explanation of the case.
So, 4 days ago a Youtuber Ploopy678 posted a video detailing this case and I was shocked knowing the whole thing.
I only knew that Seungri was charged for seggsooal violence, embezzlement, Bribery etc and his involvement in the chartroom created by JJY. I didn't know how this club was exposed at first, what important role did Seungri play and how was YG ent involved.
I think I've never come across such a messy case.
I'm curious. I've known BigBang for years since Haru Haru era. However, I wasn't a fan because I felt sick of the toxic fanwar culture in Kpop. I only listened to some Kpop songs and I had more interested in USUK artists. Then, the Burning Sun's scandal got my attention and I gradually become a VIP without acknowledgement. I also have a lot of free time due to Covid19 quarantine, so I focus more on BigBang because the reports were flooded on my newsfeed.
I see many VIPs have left the fandom due to the incident, but I think we also gain new fans like me. If the Burning Sun scandal didn't happen, I would never become a VIP or get into Kpop.
Maybe it has been talked about a lot of times. Sorry for bringing it up again but i am losing it here. I am referring to burning sun incident.. What the fuck is that??
I can't believe this. That guy JJY... Truly disgusting! He had so many group chats just for sharing videos? So was it like categorized? Coldblooded plan? Why should women deserve this? I know these cases trigger me but I still can't stop researching more and more obsessively.
Still JJY, CJH, Lee Junghyun and people like seungri have so many fans. I'm crying, I shouldnβt have looked it up. I could really use some words of comfort right now.
I'm heartbroken for the women, no one deserves this. I'm just glad none of my faves were even mentioned in this. Although it makes me a bit sad that there were some instances where they interacted. But I guess friendly interactions don't mean they knew? Right?
I hate myself so much for bringing this up here now but I needed to vent to someone and look for insight. I hate this world so much. Mad props to the reporter who exposed these crimes and I hope she exposes everyone involved.
I've been on twitter and people are trending Seungri. The amount of people disowning what he's done by tweeting stuff made up fans is just disgusting. I legit want to cry, you really want to die on a hill for someone who knew about the shady stuff but didn't nothing at all? People saying Kim Sang Kyo (the guy who brought this whole thing to people's attention) ruined Seungri career and being selfish because of it. Like you don't care about the victims? The minors? Urgh. I just needed to rant sorry. EDIT: I've been fighting people on twitter defending him and saying everything was a hoax with real hard facts but all of them are saying that's not true and that it's a rumour. I genuinely am questioning myself if what I said was wrong. I urgh. EDIT: I'm linking some tweets I was trying to defend the victims in. Sorry if I'm seen as aggressive but I don't play around when it comes to victim shaming.

I don't really care if some of you start sending me death threats or whatever I've gotten used to PS4 party chats. One of the Seungri stans followed me just to stalk and dismiss my comments π
K (Korean) pop music is a global, multi-billion dollar business. In 2019, a huge scandal emerged among some of the richest and most famous people in South Korea, including pop idols, TV stars, and businessmen.
Complicating the investigation were allegations that corrupt police officers had helped cover up these crimes. The South Korean president, Moon Jae-in, launched an investigation, and stated that there was evidence that prosecutors and police had purposely failed to investigate crimes and helped cover up the scandal. At this time, more than 350 people have been arrested in connection with the scandal. Hereβs a rundown.
The Players
If you donβt want details about whoβs involved and just want to get into the crimes themselves, you can skip this section.
BIGBANG has been named on Forbes magazineβs 30 under 30 list of the most influential living musicians in the world and ranked #22 on Rolling Stoneβs list of the βGreatest Boy Bands of All Time.β They have broke a number of records and were arguably the biggest K-pop band in the worldβthink of them as the Backstreet Boys or One Direction of Korea. In fact, those are the only two boy bands in history who have earned more money than Big Bang.
One of the pop idols in the band, Seungri (Lee Seung-hyun), was a co-owner of the Burning Sun nightclub in the Gangnam district. He is referred to as βGreat Gatsbyβ because of his lavish lifestyle and the exclusive parties he threw. Burning Sun was commonly called βSeungriβs clubβ and described as a βplayground for the rich and famousβ where $1,000 bottles of champagne are served and people party until dawn.
Yong Jun-hyung of Highlight, Choi Jong-hoon (leader and guitarist in FTISLAND), Lee Jong-hyun of CNBLUE, and singer-songwriter/TV personality Jung Joon-young were also involved.
The Crimes, aka The Burning Sun Scandal
At the Burning Sun club, the most elite guests were deemed βVVIPs.β These VVIPs were entitled to an array of services by club staff, including obtaining women for sexual purposes. Sometimes these were sex workers who went willingly, although they did not necessarily consent to their subsequent treatment. More often, however, these were women who just happened to be at the club and attracted the attention of a VVIP.
Predominantly these predators were focused on sexual conquests. Their crimes show how these sexual assaults were about power, domination, humiliation, sadism, and proving these things to other men. Crimes included:

... keep reading on reddit β‘I went to a youtube video about Jung-hyun CN blue and I see fans sayings support to him and said he did watch but he wasn't the one recording them,so he is not guilty. I was Soo mad. Why can't kpop stans of this guy acknowledge what he did was wrong? Even if he himself might not be the one recording ,he's in that chat room. He saw their texts and vids,he knew what these adult men were talking about. Yet he chose to not to say anything or even tell his friends to stop. This is like seeing a girl or a man gets raped in front of you but you chose to not even call the police. If this happens to one of their families immediately they will say he's responsible too. Just disgusting the excuses that they give to defend this man. If a man watch someone I knew gets treated like this and chose to keep quiet I would have dragged him too, despite the he fact he was not the one doing the crime.
Now I know this is sensitive and controversial but I have to admit my disappointment with the whole thing in general. At the beginning of the case I thought things were moving in the right direction but in the end nothing. I say this because I expected charges against real influential people in Korea to be brought up. Yes, some of the people who were guilty were indeed rightly charged but not all which isn't good enough especially when sentences were reduced. This scandal could have really opened the floodgates to corruption committed by people at the very most top instead of it being centered around idols. So for those reasons specified I was disappointed but I guess I really shouldn't be surprised.
So you may or may not have heard of Cookie Run. Itβs a cute little endless runner game on iOS and Android, and its colorful and diverse cast of characters has attracted a large following, not to mention the awesome and communicative devs behind the game. Itβs lovely, recommend it. But we have a story here, so Iβll move on.
Cookie Run is developed in South Korea by DevSisters, and thus a large amount of its player base is Korean. If youβre familiar with the Korean entertainment industry (which I very much am not, Iβm just an outsider looking in, but CR fandom drama is always interesting) you may be aware of the Burning Sun scandal, involving certain K-pop idols (the two leading individuals were Seungri and Jung Joon-Young) who sexually assaulted and raped women using drugs and recorded and photographed them, before posting it online. All of this information is incredibly disturbing, but the South Korean governmentβs management of this case was what tipped the Korean public over the edge, as evidence of police bribery came out. It was (maybe still is, as it seems evidence is ongoing) a very public and dramatic issue, that I donβt know enough about to say more about it, so Iβll leave it there.
Anyway, CR has a guild system, which lets users make public guilds and earn rewards for guild runs. The names of these guilds are public, and cannot be changed. So guess what? Some bright bulbs decided to name their guild βλ²λμ¬β, or, well, Burning Sun. At the time this issue was very fresh, and those who could read Korean immediately caught on and became very angry.
Suddenly, left and right, calls to boycott CR until the guild was removed were launched, all with increasingly absurd demands. You have to understand that a good deal of the CR community are also Tumblr users (no offense, Iβm a Tumblr user too, but some of yβall canβt behave) so they launched into attacking the devs with fervor, even though this wasnβt even their fault! It was honestly kinda shocking. While I agreed that the guild should be banned, ultimatums like βif you donβt ban them right now weβll review bomb the game on the AppStore so your downloads tankβ were a bit extreme.
The guild leaders seemed to catch on to the backlash, and initially tried changing the name of their guild to slip under the rug, but they needed admin permission to do so, and it was eventually changed to Cookie Run Gallery. The users then doubled down on their hate by changing their usernames to phrases mocking those on T

Even when I brought up Jung Joon Young, they said he set up Seungri when there's no evidence to that either.
I remember there being a Reddit thread with all the updated information but it's been deleted
According to the latest statement by Seungri, at one point he mentioned:
"The foreigner was a Singaporean female by the name of Kimmy. She is the daughter of a famous foreign soccer team owner. She is not a foreign investor. Mr. Kim, who was in the same chatroom as us, said he was in Korea and wanted to go to ARENA quietly. He said Kimmy gave us a lot of help, so we should take care of her."

BigBang were the first kpop group I got into and I've followed them throughout their careers, I'm not going to say I saw it coming but if you follow BB closely you could definitely tell Seungri was a skeevy dude (I just didn't know it would go this far). I was wary of Seungri since that scandal in 2012 where he paid for a Japanese prostitute and was sexually aggressive/choking her and treated her like garbage. In their promotions before the scandal broke, on talk shows and such, they would mention about how they were worried about Seungri and didn't like any of his friends (T.O.P being the one that is most vocal/obvious about not liking Seungri and his endeavours). T.O.P even mentioned he was worried he was planning to do business with his friends (which proved to be true). They also talked about how Seungri has been distancing himself from BigBang and doesn't hang out with them anymore, too busy meeting up with his other colleagues and friends. Someone made a compilation video out of some instances but there are many more examples. This probably isn't much of an opinion but idk where else to share it. The foreshadowing the members gave sends chills down my spine and I feel bad for them since they seemed like they tried to get Seungri off that path.
Honestly, good riddance. He was honestly the most dispensable member of BIGBANG even before we knew he was a scumbag. I hope the BB members (especially T.O.P) are doing well and he rots in jail.
