A list of puns related to "Blind Willie Johnson"
Blind Willie Johnson was an amazing gospel blues singer. His talents were that he not only played an amazing guitar but his ability to use his chest voice, and to go deep like he did, as his trademark. His abilities were like no other before and after him. Unfortunately he had a short, underwhelming career as did most of his contemporaries before him. Unfortunately back in the 30s and 20s most blues players were black and didn't get the amazing recognition they deserved until the 50s and 60s during the blues revival. Before that revival he sang his heart and soul out to promote "race records".
Blind Willie Johnson was also a man of God. All his songs were about his lord and savior. Now I'm not a Christian or a Catholic but Blind Willie Johnson makes me feel close to my gods. His music has made me feel that theres pride in religion and to love your higher power (who or whatever that may be). On September 5th 1977 the Voyager 1 space satellite was launched in space with the mission that one day extraterrestrial life forms would eventually pick up on the signal and take the satellite to look at the contents inside. One of those contents is a golden record that has music that scientists believe "Make the sounds of earth". Many artists were included in this and one of them was Blind Willie Johnson. His song "Dark was the Night, Cold was the Ground" is included in this Golden Record.
Blind Willie Johnson has had a huge impact on my life. His music has soul that to me most artists can't fully replicate these days. His love for God, his love for music, and his love for his home planet makes him a legend amongst legends. His death was very tragic and mainly unknown to the people who listened to his music. His career leading up to his death was slim to none and in his final days he was a preacher in a church in Beaumont, Texas. He died of malarial fever in 1945 due to exposure to the humidity caused by his home being destroyed in a fire. He was 48 years old. Who knows of this legend and how or did they impact your life?
