A list of puns related to "Baz Luhrmann"
I just caught this movie again on Amazon Prime and was able to enjoy it with other members of my family that had never heard of it. The music is great and the mother, Shirley, played by Pat Thomson, steals the show for me. If you want a light-hearted movie with some great music, docu-style story telling, and fun charaacters, this is it.
Thanks in advance!
I think it's from early 2000s or late 90s. Also, not sure if it's male or female voice, it sounds kinda like computer generated voice. As far as I remember video is consisted of random shots just like Wear Suncreen
Film lovers, I made a 21-minute video about "Strictly Ballroom" (1992) and why it's way more accurate of a representation of the Ballroom and Flamenco communities than you may realize.
I competed and taught Dancesport for many years, and have seen the ins and outs of the ballroom industry, both in the USA and down under. I also lived in southern Spain for several years and return as often as I can. I have brushed up closely with the Flamenco, gitano and bullfighting cultures in Andalucia, and am happy to share my perspective of how those aspects of Spanish culture are represented in this offbeat Australian film.
This video isn't for everyone, but if you love Baz Luhrmann's movie or love Ballroom Dance, consider giving this a listen when you're working on something in the near future, and please share with a friend!
If you watch and have anything you'd like to add or ask about or dispute, I'm pretty responsive both on YouTube and here on Reddit, so fire away! I love a healthy discussion.
Thanks for watching!
It's only 5 movies and it could lead directly into his Elvis movie next year.
I think he was on last year's March Madness (correct me if I'm wrong), but he is such a crazy blank check director and rewatching Moulin Rouge, it still insane how big that movie is.
You get more Leo talk and just the whole movement of modern Shakespeare adaptations.Tons of Kidman, McGregor, and Jackman dissection. The insane soundtracks for his movies? The Great Gatsby fucks and I will not hear anyone say otherwise. Maybe a Get Down bonus episode?
Yeah, the ridiculous one with the Dagger brand guns.
I thought the movie was incredibly dumb my first time around, and then I happened to see it a second time at an LGBTQ+ film screening and something clicked - in fact, it was one of the major elements in my life that helped me understand and appreciate Shakespeare.
I've generally heard a lot of distaste for the film, and maybe objectively there are some interesting or blasphemous decisions, but just wanted to give thanks to that movie for bringing me into a new interest and appreciation for style.
Anyone else have a similar story? Did anyone get into Shakespeare thanks to one specific adaptation of a play?
Edit: Wow, I'm in the right crowd! I wonder if it was just my peers or my generation or something, as I was always lightly mocked for having a good time. Glad to hear it's appreciated in general out there!
