A list of puns related to "Asr prayer"
It happened 10 days ago. I was thinking about what I would do after my business bankruptcy. I was on a hurry too. When I was playing phone and walking with my friend, a friend suddenly says: "kisht" (means go away while talking to animals). I looked and saw very tiny puppy. That's probably puppy of average size dog but it was so tiny, very young I assumed. It was shaking, I saw a drop of blood on its head, looks like someone hit its head. I kept later I kept walking. It followed us, my friend said "kisht" again, I told him not to do it, let him follow. I was suddenly worried where this little puppy could go. It was so pure, As psychologist, you can determine what's in its mind with it's physical act. It was jumping between my legs, wiggling its tail. I felt so sorry, But I had no idea where to go so I kept walking to mosque. I changed the route because If I go from crowded place, kids might harm the dog, or my cousins may want to take it home, my grandpa doesn't like dogs, that's a lot of drama I'd expect, so I took different road. Wallahi, It didn't even past 10 minutes in that route, a neighbor who was standing with his little son, shouted, "is that your puppy? Will you sell it?" I said: "No, it's just following me." He came to me and said thanks so many times, took the dog, and Her wife came out, the family was genuinely happy. I was shocked.
Allahu Akbar. Allahu Akbar. Allahu Akbar. You worry about your world, wealth, while literally everything that'll happen is already planned. It made me cry when I went back home and thought of it at that night. I was walking towards Allah, while worrying about what would happen to the poor little puppy. But things turned out like this. Indeed, Allah is All knowing, Wise and He is the Greatest.
So if you are struggling financially, or something else, keep praying your Lord. Don't abandon your daily prayers, dhikr, reading Quran or listening to lessons just because you are having less time for it. If you keep walking towards your Lord, your Lord will bless you, have mercy upon you, will obviously take care of you in the ways you'd never expect.

I recently learned that it's wrong to wait until Maghrib is almost upon us to pray Asr, and that we should be praying it before the sun changes color. I tried finding the exact time the color changes so I understand what the proper threshold is, but can't seem to find it online anywhere.
If anyone knows a reliable source for the time or how to calculate it, please share it with me.
The following is from Wiki: > Time ends: Once the sun has completely set below the horizon. However, it is frowned upon (and sinful in the Maliki school) to delay the prayer without a legitimate excuse to the point of the day in which the sun turns a pale red or orange color as it begins to set, though it would still be considered to have been prayed on time.

Is that true? Because that's what I picked up from this site.

Sometimes when it's time for Asr prayer I'm outside of the house running errands or something and I read that there are times when it's forbidden to pray, so even when I make it home before Maghreb I wait around for the ten minutes before maghreb prayer to perform the Asr prayer that I missed earlier. is this right?
I read that offering prayer in the forbidden time between Asr and Maghreb could be considered as a sin. Does it only apply to extra prayers only or the main prayers as well? I'm confused??
If I am free at the time of Dhuhr but not at the time of Asr due to being at work (if Dhuhr is at lunchtime, for example), is this an acceptable "hardship"? I am referring to the hardship as narrated by ibn Abbas in Muslim 1:489:
"Muslim (1/489) from Ibn โAbbaas (may Allah be pleased with him), who said: The Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) put together Zuhr and โAsr, and Maghrib and โIshaโ, when there was no fear and he was not travelling and it was not raining โ this does not mean that he put prayers together without any excuse. Rather it was said to Ibn โAbbaas concerning that: What made him do that? He said: He wanted not to make things difficult for his ummah."

I find it weird that the schools donโt even agree on when they start. Like, the shadow stuff etc.

Can anyone throw some light on why is it so and whatโs the significance of such differences?

I am an atheist, but I try my best to learn as much as I can about other religions. For some reason, I have never thought to ask this when I have talked to an Imam, so i am hoping Muslims in the Reddit community can answer this for me. Thank you all.
Question: Can the traveler pray the Friday prayer in the form of Dhuhr?
Answer: If he is in place, he prays the Friday Prayer with the Muslims. He shall not pray Dhuhr.
Question: Can the traveler who has prayed the Friday prayer merge it with'Asr?
Answer: No, he is not allowed to do because the two prayers are not of the same kind. Nor has it been reported that Salaf brought together 'Asr with the Friday prayer. We have searched without finding anything. For decades, a statement came out with Shaykh Ibn Bรขz's signature, which states that it is not allowed to merge 'Asr with Friday prayers

Salam guys!
Some sources claim that asr prayer only has 4 rakaat of fardh. Other sources say that there are 4 rakaat of fardh and 4 rakaat of sunnah. What's the correct view?
I feel really sad and dejected.
Unknown to me, he had been watching me which I really dislike because it makes me anxious and doesnโt let me focus on the prayer.
He came up to me. He said โhey what prayers were you just doing?โ
I was doing istekhara but Iโm really private and uncomfortable with telling him so I said I was doing fajr
Which, I was doing right before doing istekhara
He got really upset at me and chewed me out basically saying I shouldnโt do my prayers after to catch up, and that it wasnโt allowed. He said how if I pass Asr I canโt make up anything before that or something or something about missing fjr.
I agreed with him as I know itโs disliked to make up salat but I have certain situations and Iโm trying to get close to my deen and Allah (swt) and doing my best.
Iโm not often able to pray all the time when I want and itโs a private thing for me. I told him I have a situation but he kept pressing further then he said something about how it wasnโt allowed and how โonly those shiasโ or whatever do that. He also asked me where I was from, probably to confirm if I was a Shiaa or not. I felt pretty attacked for just doing my prayers.
I felt really bad about the whole thing and now I donโt know what to do if I need to catch up because heโs going to be watching me. I donโt know if I feel comfortable coming to the mosque again. I already felt so much anxiety just coming here.
What was I supposed to do in this situation?
Update: some 12 year old kid came and prayed with his dad and he got chewed out to his dad because his tshirt was a little short(the kid is going through a growth spurt) and apparently it made his back show so the guy was telling the kid and his dad.
It's been on my mind recently, I'm just curious.
I have a few questions and I hope you can answer them.
How do you deal with the large amount of propaganda against Shias on the internet?
If you live in a Sunni majority area, community, or country are you harassed or do people just leave you alone.
Many people think you worship the imams as prophets. How do you deal with that accusation?
Why do you think so many Sunnis hate you? And do you think that you can fix that problem.
What do you think of sufis?
Other than the succession of prophet Muhammad PBUH. What else is different about how you practice or think about Islam.
What do you think about modern day Iran? Do you think the shah was better? Do you think the Islamic republic is better but not by much. Or do you think that the Islamic republic is vastly better than the shah.
If these questions come off as offensive I am sorry. I am genuinely interested to learn about Shiism, and want to avoid all the Saudi propaganda. Thank you for your time!
And why are you against it, if not? Weight, comfort, upper body mobility, overall mobility?
I just find myself reciting the intention of Fardhu Maghrib before any other recitations. Sometimes i get it right at the 2nd recitation,3rd, sometimes over 5 timmes.
Anyone else?
Asalamualakum, I have a question regarding whether it is permissible to pray in the masjid when the time has come but they never started congregation. For example letโs say asr starts at 5:30 PM, but at the masjid they pray congregation at 7:00, and letโs say youโre in a hurry but near a masjid, is it possible to pray asr before they congregation in the masjid? Thanks
Hello sisters so I am a high school student and I miss duhur because of school and I'm not allowed to pray in school so is it ok if I can pray after school when I get home which is about 3.30pm will I get sinned for this?
salam ladies, i wanted to ask if anyone has any tips on praying in public. when im out with friends, i always get so anxious when i see that thereโs not much time until the next salat, and i havenโt prayed. i always try to leave the house after dhuhr and be back around maghreb time, but itโs always difficult to fit in asr and maghreb if iโm out a little later. what makes this 100000x harder is that most mosques in the uk are shut and only open for jamaat, so i cant just walk in and pray.
my friends are muslim, and iโm always the one who brings up prayer time, but a lot of the time theyโll make up excuses or they just donโt listen.
i have a travel size prayer mat somewhere and i canโt just pray on the street because itโs raining most of the time. and i know that embarrassment isnโt a valid excuse to not pray
i just hate walking around knowing iโve missed my prayers.
Masturbation is indeed a dangerous sin. Why ?
As some may know, masturbating is a small sin, but it is addictive which makes it accumulative. This results in the small sin multiplying more and more and more until it becomes a major sin. More over, when you cum you need to do ghusl which you'll probably not want to do and thus miss your prayers. That is indeed a major sin. See how Shaytan drags you over like a puppet. Sin after sin till you commit shirk. Be brave soldiers, the fight is not easy nor is it hard. It's all a game of will.
Assuming most the users here are teenagers from 13-18 i believe you come home at the evening and masturbate, then you probably don't do ghusl and miss asr prayer. Asr prayer is the prayer that is most focused on in Islam as Allah (SWT) said : ุญูุงููุธููุง ุนูููู ุงูุตููููููุงุชู ููุงูุตููููุงุฉู ุงููููุณูุทูููฐ ูููููู ููุง ููููููู ููุงููุชูููู
Guard strictly your (habit of) prayers, especially the Middle Prayer; and stand before Allah in a devout (frame of mind).
Sincerely,
A soldier.
Salaam everyone!! InshAllah everyone is having a blessed jumuah :)
You all seemed to enjoy my last post, link here: https://www.reddit.com/r/MuslimMarriage/comments/nrj387/rishta_diariesnot_the_original_female_spin_off/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf
I thought to do multiple follow ups where I go in detail about rishta experiences and meetings all leading to me finding the one, but it occurred to me that there are a plethora of posts on MuslimMarriage relating to first meeting questions, etiquette, etcetera, etcetera. So while I still intend on sharing more experiences (I will do so in later posts), I think it may be helpful to some if I go in detail about some of the experiences I mentioned in the last post!
The first experience I will dwell on is that of the guy who looked completely different to his pictures. We can call him Catfish :)
Catfish was an older guy (there must have been 8ish years of an age gap between us) but he was โwell settledโ, doing his residency at a hospital about an hour from where my family lives. One weird thing though was that his mother seemed to ghost us and then re-initiate conversationโin retrospect I think she was playing the field for her son and engaging multiple potentials at once. I donโt have any experiences with the apps but I assume that apps and Shaadi.com are pretty similar in that people tend to send multiple invites and try to see who โbitesโ and then gauge who is better suited for them.
But nonetheless she got back to us and everything seemed pretty positive, minus the weird forewarning that she gave โI donโt usually contact when my son isnโt interested after meeting as it is difficult for me and I donโt like to hurt peopleโ. (Of course Iโm paraphrasing, I donโt remember her actual words verbatim). This honestly should have been a warningโthey were basically setting the stage to flee sans accountability prior to even meeting.
Now I will add a side note here as I know multiple people in my familyโs social circles who have looked for their kids, sons and daughters alikeโand one of the signs of akhirah is that marriage will become hard and zina will become easy. And marriage (getting married) is HARD, hence the success of this subreddit. And I honestly do know of motherโs who will become clingy to potentials parents as they really want it to work out, and of course they have best interests at heart but it can come off as a little desperate and off-putting. But as soon as
... keep reading on reddit โก1.Zoroastrian prayer:
Time: Islamic/ Zoroastrianism
Dawn: Fajar/ Havaan
Noon: Zohar/ Rapithwan
Afternoon: Asr/ Uziren
Evening: Mazreem or Maghrib/ Aiwisuthrem
Night time: Isha or Ishan/ Ushaen.
Approximately match with islamic times, Only very religious zoroastrians pray.
2.The bridge As-Sirat which a person has to pass on the day of judgement is similar to the Chinvat bridge between worlds which one has to cross after death. It widens if the person is worthy to enter, letting one get to heaven.
4.In Islam there are the 99 Names of Allah. In Zoroastrianism there are the 101 names of God.
5.Zoroastrians are required to wash their faces and limbs before prayer, Similar to Wuduu
In concept, But different in execution.
6.Some similar verses (edit: Someone pointed out that these verses have no authenticity and were Written possibly in the 17th century) :
Quran 2 : 97 : โit is [none but] he (Angel Gabriel) who has brought the Qur'an down upon your heartโ, and Dasatir Page 37 : "The Word of the Lord is that which the angel reveals to your heart." - Both books mention an angel delivering revelation from the Creator.
Az-Zumar 39:53 : โdo not despair of the mercy of Allahโ and Dasatir Page 33 : "Don't be disappointed of His favours and kindness" - Both mention not to be disappointed by the Creator.
Surah Qaf 50:16 : โAnd We have already created man and know what his soul whispers to him, and We are closer to him than [his] jugular veinโ and Dasatir page 122 : "I am nearer to you than your ownself." - Both verses mention that humans are closer to the Creator than to themselves.
Anything else to add?
Iโm a revert living in the West, and, obviously since Islam is a touchy subject here, Iโm trying to keep my beliefs mostly to myself except to the closest I know that wonโt be judgemental. Even though I know requesting time for prayer is technically protected under civil rights laws in the US, Iโm not really wanting to ask for an exception to take prayer breaks just because last time I asked at a job wasnโt a great experience.
Whatโs the best way to go about the prayers when youโre in a tough situation like I am? Itโs also an industry Iโd rather have my faith be more anonymous in.
Users have a profile which shows when (at what time) they will offer the next prayer in a Masjid on the current day, and also mention what prayer it would be (Zuhr, Asr etc). So it needs to be updated regularly by the user.
User profiles will be visible based on distance filters, with the nearest Masjid Buddies (those people who have the app installed and have indicated their next prayer time for the day) showing up first.
The app will encourage people to go to the Masjid Insha Allah, and will also be helpful if someone needs to know timings of a Masjid etc. Users will be able to chat with each other.
If possible, we can add cool features like if someone has been inactive for a few days, we can show a message like - " 15 Masjid buddies near you are going for Isha in a Masjid today, why not join them?! "
Would anyone be interested in building a Web app for this? I wish I could myself, but am not a software developer. I will personally promote it on social media Insha Allah.
I find it difficult to keep my 5 salah even though I do do them all. Would it be bad if I started off at 3 than gradually prayed 5? Iโm saying this because I feel my prayers arenโt sincere and rushed when I do 5 but I feel if I fall back on 3 and grow to pray 5 they will be more meaningful (during Ramadan Iโll do all 5 no problem)
Update: I think Iโll continue to push to 5. I did all 5 today anyways, may as well. Thank you guys.
Battle of Bani Quraiza Ali bin Ibrahim, Shaykh Tabarsi etc. have narrated that when the Holy Prophet (S) returned to Medina from the Battle of Ahzab, Lady Fatima (s.a.) brought water, so that he may wash himself. The Prophet was about to enter into the bathroom and the standard was not yet wrapped up when Jibraeel arrived and according to the report of Tabarsi, he had not even dismounted and he was wearing a white turban whose ends hung upon his shoulders.
The Prophet removed dust from his head and Jibraeel said: May Allah have mercy on you, you have disarmed, but your heavenly soldiers have not. We were in hot pursuit of the idolaters of Quraish and were driving them till we took them till Rauha. According to the report of Ali bin Ibrahim, we took them till Humraul Asad. Jibraeel says: O Messenger of Allah (S), the Almighty Allah orders you to recite the Asr prayer in the locality of Bani Quraiza. I will precede you and shake up their fort.
Imam Ali (a.s.) carried the big standard and preceded the army which turned to Bani Quraiza. It is mentioned in Qurbul Asnad from Imam Muhammad Baqir (a.s.) that on that day the Holy Prophet (S) gave a black standard with a white flag which was called Uqab (the eagle). Amirul Momineen (a.s.) fixed the Islamic standard below the fort, Kaab bin Usaid saw them from the fort. He was reviling the Muslims and insulting the Prophet, but the Messenger of Allah (S) was not responding. According to the report of Shaykh Mufeed, when they saw the Prophet, they remembered that the eliminator of Amr Ibn Abde Wudd was here.
So a terrible fright overtook them. Prophet came near the fort mounted on an donkey There were many date trees around the fort so there was no place for the army to camp there. The Holy Prophet (S) signed to the trees and they spread in the desert leaving an open field around the fort.
Salam everyone!
I fully and whole heartedly believe in the Mercy of Allah, and that he is All Forgiving (basically all 99 names of Allah) but when I see verses and hadith about punishment, it jolts fear in me. I know that some of those scary suwar/verses like Surat Tawbah are specific to the time of the Prophet PBUH and when they were being prosecuted by others for being Muslim. I also know some verses are specific to those who violently and aggressively opposed a message they knew to be true but rejected out of arrogance.
When I come across verses, I try to reference a PDF I have about Asbab Al-Nuzul (the reasons for the revelation), but I don't have the knowledge myself of doing Tafsir or going through chains of transmission to tell whether a hadith is daeef (weak) or not. I also know some hadith sound scary out of context (like the woman's intellect hadith) but are actually very funny or very specific if you do know the context.
For example, this:
> Ibn Umar reported that the Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) said: He who misses the afternoon prayer, it is as though he has been deprived of his family and his property.
I've seen this hadith used in junction with verses of the Quran to claim that missing Asr sends you to hell and not missing Asr saves you from Hell. I think the justification overall is oversimplified, as no one knows but Allah what will happen in the hereafter, but it still makes me wonder whether my assumptions about gentleness, ease, and mercy are wrong.
Something I took from Shaykh Abou El Fadl's Halaqa about hijab that really resonated with me is that you can't take a single verse or sentence out of the context and expect to have a full understanding of that sentence or verse. This is one of the reasons why I have trouble with some religious justifications by scholars or academics who don't provide context but also why it's difficult for me to understand what I'm reading because I don't have the background or resources to get to the bottom of it myself.
Any advice?
Ok yall before I start, I should note, obviously this stuff is on google! I know it's easily accessible but the information on there was just so overwhelming with all the differing opinions so I got overwhelmed and I guess I wanted to hear about how you guys do things as well
also I guess I should point out that I follow the Shafi' school of thought. not gonna lie I never really realized that one should be specific about the school of thought they follow but that's the one my family follows! (I actually just learned what school thought we follow.. embarrassing that I did not learn earlier but I guess better late than never)
Regarding saying Ameen when praying alone I used to say it, then I read that you shouldn't say it unless praying in congregation, but then recently I have been seeing a lot about people saying that you should say it even when praying alone?
Also can someone breakdown the Sunnah for each prayer for me? This is how I do it but I think I might be wrong for Duhr! For that prayer for sunnah I pray 4 all together before the 4 Fard and then I do two sunnah after....are the 4 that I do before supposed to be broken up 2 by 2 rather than 4 together?
Fajr: 2 sunnah before, 2 fard
Duhr: 4 sunnah before (all together) 4 fard then 2 sunnah
Asr: 4 fard
Maghreb: 3 fard followed be 2 sunnah
Isha: 4 Fard followed by 2 sunnah
