A list of puns related to "Anselm Kiefer"
I am thinking about works like Aschenblume (ash flower) where the earth seems to be at the bottom and it is cracked - see: https://www.themodern.org/program/anselm-kiefer-slow-art-virtual
The materials used are listed as "Oil, emulsion, acrylic paint, clay, ash, earth, and dried sunflower on canvas" Ash and clay have very fine particles, so binding them is not that difficult. It is the earth that could be problematic.
So, in the list of ingredients it says emulsion and acrylic paint:
Kiefer also uses shellac regularly - which I know becomes relatively matte when mixed with certain stone powders, and as such was for instance used in the past to repair damaged wood. But I am not sure it would yield a great result with earth because it is too shiny.
Any thoughts?
