A list of puns related to "American Megatrends"
...But they are still "startup" companies by definition.
Hi I have an old desktop PC (from ~2006) I'm trying to repair but it can't access BIOS.
The PSU is known to work, powering CPU fan and GPU fan, but I don't know if it means that old CPU and old GPU work... I don't have DDR spares to tell whether the old RAM sticks work.
I plugged the "+" pin of the pc speaker to the +5V dedicated pin on the motherboard, and the "-" pin on the "sound" pin.
However, it's not making any sound. I let it spin for a minute or so...
From the motherboard doc it says it's either AMI BIOS v1.10 (2002) or v1.19 (2003) if I made the firmware update.
Would you guys have some advice on troubleshooting it please?
Do I need to add a GPU in the troobleshooting list if the MB has a VGA port on it ?
Can it come from the "CMOS" battery ? When I search about it, all I find is it stores date+time and bios settings :
3.1) But what if it's dead ? Can the computer boots anyways ?
3.2) To me it's just a CR2032 battery, how does it stores information ? Can I just replace it with a brand new watch battery ? Or I have to give it really something called "CMOS" ?
This has been going on for the past few days. I don't know what to do. I have a picture of what is happening for more detail. It tells me something about intel optane memory and raid. Please help. http://imgur.com/a/iGCOoXx
UPDATE: Was able to get past BIOS. Realized my RAM was being recognized as 2133 instead of 3200. Updated BIOS settings by manually setting speed and voltage to 1.32v. Was able to boot to Windows.
Recently I've been having some BSOD issues while using gaming and productivity apps. I replaced my PSU and ran diagnostics (memtest86) on my memory and everything checked out, but I was still getting the following BSOD while using the PC:
memory_managementirql_not_less_or_equalsystem_service_exception
I saw for one of those that a BIOS update had solved the issue for some people. I downloaded the BIOS update from the ASUS website and installed with a flash drive, and it seemed to go through normally. However, now when I boot my PC shows one of two American Megatrends screens. I can get into my BIOS settings with F1 and can see the updated BIOS version there. I also played around with my boot settings. Finally, I replaced the CMOS battery as I have one lying around and tried resetting the BIOS manually (I think it worked). Tbh, I have no idea what to do from here. Tried searching other posts but most are dead-ends. Going to start removing my RAM sticks and trying to boot from there but if anyone has any suggestions in the meantime I would appreciate it.

Alright I need some help.
On my first boot and subsequent restarts I cannot get past the American Megatrends screen. The only thing I can say now is that my AIO is plugged into the AIO_PUMP header instead of CPU_FAN header. Additionally, keyboard and mouse are wireless at the moment, but they keyboard is definitely working because I can ctrl-alt-delete in this screen.
Below is word for word what I am seeing on screen as well as system specs.

Hi guys,
Last night i finished my build (first time) and when i turned everything on the only page that would show up is American Megatrends asking me to press F1 for setup, but when I pressed F1 nothing would happen. I unplugged my keyboard and put it in another port but that didnt resolve anything.
I looked up what it could be and many said i needed to change out the battery in the motherboard, but this is a brand new one so Id assume it wouldnt be that but should I give that a try?
