A list of puns related to "Alternate history"
My favorite of the Victoria 2 alt history mods is Divergences of Darkness (HPM) because it's so fun and balanced with all the alt-history memes they cover, but obviously there's stuff that hasn't been tried yet. Here are some other alternate timelines I thought can be interesting to see:
All of Europe is uncivilized, where as West African countries are all civilized and already have a few colonies in South America along the Brazilian coast. At some point during the game, there's a "Scramble for Europe" because of the increased demand for steel and all the iron and coal-rich areas in the European heartland. Time to create the Belgian Free State and the Central European Republic!
The Japanese win the Imjin War and become a legitimate contender for the Mandate of Heaven, and try to make themselves more Chinese. By the 1800s it has a solid hold and cores on the Northeast Asian mainland (from the Great Wall to Kamchatka, with a few ports in Southeast Asia as well and may inevitably try to unify the remainder of China while trying to fight off any Western influence in the region. Speaking of which, China and other unifiable nations would do much better with the new βdynamicβ flags.
Prussia and Austria are united together in Europe as Germany from the beginning while France, Russia, and the UK are still divided among smaller states. In this timeline Europeans are still the most technologically advanced on the planet, but have much more continental turmoil to deal with.
Morocco becomes a civilized nation alongside the European ones. It's also an African superpower as the Saadi Sultanate doesn't collapse, and splits up American colonies with England, based on OTL's Al Mansur and Queen Elizabeth's plans for an Anglo-Morrocan alliance. Meanwhile, Spain and Portugal have less influence in the Americas and Europe due to losing wars with these two countries.
The Hapsburg dynasty is much stronger and not only still controls Austria by the Victorian era, but also much of Southern Italy, Spain, and the Netherlands as well.
A more accessible pathway for Oman to unite the Arabs rather than the Saudis. Obviously the sultan still gets to live in Zanzibar.
European diseases are not as fatal as in OTL, and there's still a more sizable native population in the Americas. Playable Cherokees and Tainos maybe?
India never forms nor is formable, but is a collection of smaller, religously diverse civilized states based on language, while their neighbors
I need to find three artists who can make crazy alternate history versions of three historical paintings with sergals (a non-human species).
Each artist would do one of these, so please let me know which one(s) you'd be willing to do or would prefer.
These are for a weird, non-commercial alternate history project of mine.
My maximum budget is $1000 per artwork, but preferably lower. However, I might be willing to pay more if I like your style/skill level enough, so please feel free to reply in any case if you're at all interested in this commission.
The details (and references) can be found in this google doc: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1-hTbcrimHaQTRzMwpG5V0YoPyqyzGnAchkgw-1mEZYc/edit?usp=sharing
As I understand it, Cumtown was originally just meant to be a nick mullen podcast, but Stav and Adam just hapened to be around on the first few episodes and ended up being regular hosts. For the record, I love them both and glad it worked out this way, but in some alternate history/ alternate universe thing, it could have ended up being Nick, Jake Flores and Ian Fidance or something. Who else was around at the time, how else might the podcast have ended up? For the Adam and Stav haters, who would you prefer to have?

I have made an alternative WW2 outcome generator with various outcomes for the world and for each country. Presently it boasts full content for a wide range of countries in all continents and daily updates are gonna bring in new content for new nations. I won't rest till every single nation has content.
Dogfighting seadogs! :)
Ahoy mateys, I'm the solo indie dev behind Pirates of Gravitae, a roguelike that takes the dogfight action of Luftrausers, mixes it with the campaign progression of FTL and Hades, and presents it in 2.5D views. It is coming to Steam Early Access in Spring of 2022, but you can check out the demo already:
https://store.steampowered.com/app/1703500/Pirates_of_Gravitae/
And you can watch the trailer I put together here: https://youtu.be/uvTSPoyG7xc
My aim has been to infuse the frenetic action with sim like features, like physics based movement and AI, dynamic weather and flight conditions (watch out for storm winds that'll toss you around like a leaf), and with energy management for activation of combat abilities (like you would with a MOBA). So you'll need strategy and tactics on top of good reflexes.
The game has been in solid playable shape for a while, a good deal of major combat and campaign mechanics already implemented. I am aiming for a three act campaign, the first of which is already in the game. The long term vision is to add more of everything: more abilities to equip, more perks to collect, more mission types to keep things fresh, more enemies to curse at, etc.
I would also like to build up the narrative aspects of the game, giving each of the eight crew members their time to shine, and their own play styles.
If this sounds interesting, please consider adding it to your wishlist on Steam. Would be happy for any feedback you may have as well.
Thank you for reading :)

Iβm always grateful to have this sub help me find new audio dramas to listen to. I find my new shows to fall in love with. Such is the case with Out of Place.
Out of Place follows a man named Andrew Moss. He had been studying history in university, but wound up dropping out. Still, he's making the best of things. He's gotten as an archivist for a mysterious organization called The Carruthers Institute. He's cataloging historical artifacts, but there's something off about them. The artifacts seem to contradict recorded history. It soon becomes clear that the artifacts are from parallel worlds where history went differently. Andrew must examine the artifacts to determine how the history of their worlds differs from our own. All the while, Andrew ponders who his mysterious benefactor is.
Out of Place is part of the Midnight Disease network of audio dramas. It includes several other fine show, like Theatre of Tomorrow. Out of Place is created by Ben Counter, who also voices Andrew. It is produced by Pacific S. Obadiah, who is the founder of Midnight Disease. The episodes are presented in the form of audio logs that Andrew has recorded. This means that Ben has to carry the entire show all by himself. Well, with the exception of the final episode of the season, but we'll get to that in due time. Anyway, there's no music or sound effects; it's just purely him narrating. In situations like this the narrator is going to make or break the show. Thankfully, Ben's narration is all that Out of Place needed to succeed.
Out of Place managed to do something I would have previously said was impossible. It combined alternate history and horror, and did so to great effect. It also did so without resorting to the typical Nazi victory or Confederate victory scenarios. Some episodes hint at supernatural elements, but for the most part, the horror is derived from down-to-earth alternate history. Much of the horror comes simply from the cruelty of humans to their fellow humans. The premise of a man cataloging strange artifacts for a mysterious organization reminded me of the SCP Foundation. In fact, I'd argue that Out of Place is almost a better SCP podcast than most of the actual SCP podcasts.
I also appreciated the amount of creativity and originality put into the worlds featured in Out of Place. They arenβt alternate host scenarios you tend to see very often. I applaud everyone at Out of Place for going against the grain.
Have you listened to Out of Place? If s

I love French comics for the variety of story, particularly historical fiction, they have. This also extends to alternate history, which is known in French as Uchronia. Unfortunately, not all such comics are available in English. Occasionally, however, the stars will align just right, and English translations will come. So it was when ComiXology partnered with Delcourt and Soleil, two of the biggest publishers of French comics, to bring several of their titles into English for the first time. This includes Jour J.
Jour J is a French alternate history comic book series that imagines a different alternate world in each issue. It has been translated into English as What If?, but thus far only two issues have been translated. A tragedy, but at least one of them involves space colonization. Russians on the Moon! takes place in a world where the Soviet Union landed on the Moon in 1969 after the Apollo 11 mission prematurely ended in disaster. America is humaited by this defeat, and so reorients its space program towards establishing a Lunar base, but the Soviet build a base of their own.
The actions shifts to 1979, where tension remain high between East and West. The Soviet Galaktika base has been unusually quiet, and the American Eagle base reports a female astronaut with a mysterious health issue. Thereβs mysteries, intrigue and action of plenty all set around alternate history of the Space Race.
This comic was well worth the wait. Iβve always had a fascination with The Space Race, and it was a real treat to read an alternate history involving it. The artwork is incredible, it can easily compete with the art work of American comics. There arenβt very many alternate history comics, especially ones that donβt involve supernatural means to alter history. As such, this comic was a rare gem. I can not recommend it enough.
Have you read Russians on the Moon? If so, what did you think?

There's another post asking about events that did happen that people want to see modelled.
What event did not happen (but might have) that you would like to see in the game?
For me it's the formation of United States of Greater Austria: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_of_Greater_Austria
In general more interesting solutions to Austria-hungary's problems such as the triple monarchy: Austria-Hungary-Croatia falls under that as well.
