She rolled her eyes and walked away.
"Except she was pre-Madonna" I replied. It took her a second but she groaned. Got her good.

I told her she better start trying alternatives soon, it's going to be hard to quit eating her current lunch cold turkey.

We just finishing applying the mortar to the tub surround and adding the tiles. While we were cleaning up, she was complaining about all the mortar dust getting in her feet. I asked her how it got there and she replied that itβs all over the floor. βYou walked in it?β, I said and she nodded. I replied with, βone does not simply walk into mortar.β Iβm sleeping on the couch tonight.

Edit #1: Thank you reddit. I think you ensured I will be getting divorced. Don't let up, it's full steam ahead.
Edit #2: My wife hates train puns. I sent her screen shots. She's on to my loco-motives.
Edit #3: I'm speechless. Largely because it's like 6am and I want to stay quiet to not wake up my wife, she's out coal'd, snoring like a freight train. I feel like you all really railed it with these jokes. I hope that she doesn't chugga chugga chugga chugga chugga chugga chugga chugga choose choose to divorce me. I couldn't wait until the train ride. I told my wife some of the jokes. I working on a YouTube compilation of them from last night. I feel like she conducted herself quite well.

Edit #5: I'm about to start training.
My cousin (MtF) has just come out to the family- she told some of us "younger" ones but she was afraid especially of what her dad's reaction would be. He's a man of few words and was never outgoing or very affectionate to his kids, his side of the family is pretty conservative as well. A very as-seen-on-TV-in-the-90s dad with a handlebar moustache and multiple different-but-same polo t-shirts. Her mum passed a few years ago and they are even more distant than ever. It was finally the big day and she told him in front of a couple of us. The silence seemed to stretch on into the infinite. After some time, he got up, and without even a slight change in expression he said- "so I guess you can't see me now".
...
More silence

"Because I'm a transparent geddit?" With the most gigantic smile I've EVER seen him crack.
It's been 5 days and he's been cracking the same joke on every opportunity he can, ever since.
Edit- I forgot my favorite part- he asked her if she would like to add her mum's name in her new one because he missed saying it. I BAWLED my eyes out.
Edit2: obligatory I can't believe how much this blew up! We met at a family gathering yesterday and he was still chuckling so i decided to post this. I sent my cousin this post and she says he's very proud of himself. Thanks for all the awards! This is crazy!
I see that there was some confusion about the moustache description - we're a first generation Indian - Hindu family, and it's traditional especially for the older generation I think.
It's a cute moment, but not everyone is as positive. Some neighbors, people at school, a teacher or so (it's just a phase! you'll ruin your life!), and she's been handling calls all day from AH family members who only call for gossip.

After my food arrived I asked for some ketchup. But they didn't have any. They didn't have chance to stock up today and have run out of all their sauces. And this food needed something to mask the actual taste. So I quickly nipped back home and grabbed all of my selection, just in case the Mrs ended up wanting something different. She usually does

After standing in line for a moment he comes up to a teller with the name tag Patrica Wack who asked him what he was looking for.
The frog takes a moment and says, βIβd like a loan of a million dollars.β
Patrica look at him in utter shock and says, βBut youβre a frogβ¦ what is your collateral? How are you going to pay it back?β
The frog waits for her to stop speaking then states simply, βMy father is Mick Jagger.β
βHow can you prove it?β Patrica instantly responded.
Responding to her incredulity, the frog pulls out a small porcelain porcupine and places it in front of her, allowing a moment of inspection. Soon she asks, βWhat does this mean?β Looking to the frog for an explanation.
βAsk your boss,β He says. βheβll know.β
Then, without waiting even a moment he turned on his heels and walked out of the bank. Patrica, dumbfounded by the strange interaction put the small porcupine to the side of her desk and waited for the end of the dayβ¦

At the end of the day Patrica went to her boss and recounted the whole strange story about the frog and handed her boss the porcupine, asking, βSo what is it anyway?β

βThatβs a knickknack Patty Wack, give that frog a loan, his old manβs a rolling stone.β

For many years he collected all kinds of them. Red snails, green snails, blue snails, snails with conical shells, snails with circular shells, whatever he could find.
There was one type he didn't like however: snails with bumpy shells. The bumps just looked incredibly ugly to him.
As the years went by, he became known in various collector communities for being the Snail-Man. That's how he met his wife.
Unfortunately, while she also loved snails, she loved the ones with bumpy shells.
Despite this, they got along swimmingly. They were happily married for 45 years.
Eventually, his wife was diagnosed with cancer and passed away. A local newspaper decided to interview Snail-Man about his experiences collecting snails with his wife over the years.
"You and your wife were world-renowned snail collectors. You must be taking this loss pretty hard." the interviewer said.
"To be honest" he responded "I'm pretty relaxed about the whole situation."
Surprised the interviewer asked "why"?
"She liked bumpy snails, but now that she's gone it's all smooth snailing from here."
She was worried about all that second hand smoke
A friend of mine has this great idea for a small business selling collectables, so he goes into a bank and walks up to the teller.
He can see from her nameplate that the teller's name is Patricia Whack. So he says, "Ms. Whack, I'd like to get a loan for a small business venture."
Patty looks in disbelief as she realizes this voice is coming from a dog. But being professional she clears her throat and asks how much he wants to borrow.
The dog says $500,000. And proceeds to fill out the loan paperwork.
Patty, the teller, reviews the paperwork and notices his name and is a little star struck as it reads: Buddy Mick Jagger. Feeling embarrassed, but curious, Patty asks if there is any relation to THE Mick Jagger?
The dog sighs and says, yes, Mick is his father, adopted, but his father nonetheless.
Patty explains that $500,000 is a substantial amount of money and that he will need something to act to secure such a large loan.
The dog says, "Yes ma'am. I have several sets of these" and shows her a tiny porcelain elephant, about half an inch tall, bright pink and perfectly shaped. He then produces more and more of these small porcelain animals all hand crafted and painted various colors. While trying to explain these collectables are what he hopes to sell Patty becomes very confused and thinks up a quick excuse:
"Well, for such a large loan and unusual collateral I will have to consult the branch manager."
Ms Whack finds the manager and says "There's a talking dog named Buddy Mick Jagger out here who claims to be a relation to Mick Jagger and wants a loan for $500,000. And as collateral he wants to use this?" She then holds up the small porcelain elephant. "I mean, what even is this? Is it valuable?"
The bank manager stands up, blinks a few times, looks her straight in the eye with a large smile and says: "Oh! That's a knick knack, Patty Whack. Give the dog a loan. His old man's a Rolling Stone!"
(My grandpa would tell this joke at family gatherings to all of us grandkids, we would only ever get small parts of it at a time, but the rest of the adults would always groan at the end. Wasn't till many years later I realized this was a pretty common long haul joke! Still a good memory, hopefully it have you a chuckle!)
One weekend, my son, 21 at the time was spot on with dad jokes/comments all weekend. Sunday after church I was cleaning up lunch dishes and his mother was folding laundry. He made a perfect joke and instead of laughing I asked "Is Holly (his girlfriend) pregnant?" He and his mom both stopped dead in their tracks and simultaneously said "What?!?!?!". I said that his jokes were so on point something had to be going on... We all laughed.
Fast forward two days later. I took my son and his girlfriend to lunch. We ordered and while we were waiting, my son says "You know all of those dad jokes I have been making?" Me "Yeah, why?" Him "Well, I'm gonna be a dad!" Holly punched him in the arm and said "I can't believe you told him like that!"
There was a conversation about money and sleepless nights and what next, but we will support you any way we can. After our conversation my son asked if I would tell his mom since she works with Holly's dad and her parents found out earlier that day. Heck NO I won't tell your mother!!
TL;DR My son made dad jokes. I asked if his girlfriend was pregnant. She was.
If someone asks grandma about who brewed the coffee she would say he-brews
(I hope this counts he just said it and we all started laughing and I said I was going to post it)
His wife said "he just snapped."
When the cops asked what might have pushed him over the edge, his wife replied:
"I don't know what he's been fretting about."
During the hearing the judge asked him if it was likely to happen again.
"Only if she stops picking at me all the time."
My wife was complaining about how i'm not spontanious or creative, unless it involves terrible jokes, so i went out and got a tattoo (my first one). But since im not very creative i had them tattoo a pic of my thermos from work. I went home all excited and showed her my new tattoo! She was really confused about it. She looked at it for awhile and when she went to touch it i yelled at her not to touch the thermos tat. I think she's leaving me now :(
Old family jokes, which means Iβm sure variations are out there for both of them that most of you have heard
#1- an elderly woman is watching her normal sitcoms when suddenly the news cuts into her show to show live footage of a madman driving the wrong way on the interstate! Worried sick, she calls her husband, and says βhoney, thereβs a madman driving the wrong way on the highway! Be careful on your way home!β Her husband responds irritated, βwhat are you talking about? Thereβs not only one madman! There are hundreds of them!β
#2- a cop pulls over a man who was speeding. He approaches the car and asks for license and registration. The driver says, βIβm sorry officer, I canβt do that! You see, this car is stolen so the registration isnβt under my name! Also, the gun I used to steal the car is in there and I wouldnβt want you to be uncomfortable!β
The cop is obviously a bit flustered, and asks for the man to roll down his back windows to look in the backseat. The man replies, βhonestly officer thatβs impossible, as I have 10 kilos of cocaine in the footwells and donβt want to expose them to outside!β
At this point the cop is quite worried and has his gun drawn, asking the driver to open the trunk! The driver replies βofficer, Iβm afraid I canβt do that due to the two bodies I have in my trunk!β
At this, the officer runs back to his car and radios for backup.
After about 10 minutes, the police sergeant drives up and with his gun drawn asks the man for his license and registration. The driver says, βabsolutely sergeant, no problemβ and hands him a perfectly normal and legal registration and license.
The sergeant then says, βand I hear you have drugs in the back seat!β
βOh not at all, sergeant!β Says the man, opening the back window. The car is very clean and the footwells empty.
Confused, the sergeant then asks: βwhat about your trunk? I hear you have two dead bodies in there?β
βNot at all officerβ, says the man, βonly my groceries!β Popping the trunk, itβs obvious thereβs nothing wrong with the driver or the vehicle.
βI donβt understand; my officer told me you told him all of these things. Whatβs going on?!β
The driver responds βI bet he told you I was speeding, too, didnβt he?β
While she's sitting there, she sees a young man who's jogging while eating a popsicle. All of a suddent, he begins to choke on his popsicle. The woman calls out to him, asking if he needs help, but the man quickly stops coughing, and gives her a thumbs up; indicating that he's fine.
About twenty minutes later, the young man passes by her again, now eating a hotdog. Just as before, he begins to choke on his hotdog. The woman calls to him, but again, the man gives her thumbs up, and confirms he's fine.
Another twenty minutes pass, and the young man once again jogs past her, while eating a bag of chips, where he, once again, begins to choke. He again assures the woman that he's fine, but this time, the woman decides enough is enough.
"This is the third time this has happened!" She screams. "Why can't you just sit down to eat?"
The man gives her a smile, and replies. "Because, ma'am, I'm a running gag."
I read the post from u/AndiPandi92 about how she woke her dad up every morning with a joke from this subreddit. It is a beautiful post as are the comments. It inspired me to do the same for my dad. I already see him once a week - he has had seven strokes, can hardly talk but has an enormous brain capacity - very sharp and an easy laugh. I have told him jokes for two days and both times he laughed so tears fell down his cheeks (my mom told me afterwards) and he say thank you afterwards. So thank you from me and my dad - you are all awesome β€
So I work at a bank part time, I usually get a joke or two from here each day and tell it to my boss over MS Teams. We have a chuckle and go about our day. My last day was alright set for tomorrow (Saturday).
Wednesday the top joke was: How does a Mexican cut his pizza? With little caesars.
Apparently that could be seen as racist by the bank management that could potentially see everything written in our chats. So I get pulled into the office and it was all just verbal warning blah blah. I was obviously not my intention to be racist as I am a Christian dad who just loves jokes and eye rolls as you do on this sub.
Fast forward to today, my last Friday in the banking world. I'm on to bigger and better things. By now everyone knows the joke and everyone knows that the manager overreacted. My assistant manager bought some pizza in my honor and didn't think about where she got it from. So of course when she said it out loud in the teller line I started cracking up. 'I got Little Caesars for you.'
So this past Thursday, my wife and I had tickets to see the new Batman film. We managed to get a babysitter organised and everything.
We're sat in the cinema for the obligatory 30 minutes' worth of adverts/trailers. Getting pretty pumped to see The Batman at this point.
Around about 20 minutes into the film (absolutely glued to the screen), I notice that I'm starting to feel really itchy and my lips started to swell up and go numb (this has only happened once before and I've been to the GP to have tests done. All negative so far).
Another 5 minutes go by and I'm starting to struggle to breathe but fuck, it's Batman, I can push through this, right?.. Wrong!
5 minutes after that, I'm sat in the ambulance that my wife had called for me, on my way to A&E. After half the night in A&E, alone, they discharge me.
My wife picks me up. As I get home, her friend (who babysat for us) was still at our house comforting my wife. After the questions of concern and comments of relief, she asked how the first 30 minutes of The Batman was.... my answer?...
"It was so good, it took my breath away".
TL;DR. 30 minutes into The Batman I went into anaphylactic shock and found it extremely difficult to breathe. Once being discharged from the hospital I was asked how the for 30 minutes of The Batman was. I responded with "it was so good, it took my breath away".
It's true
Like all beings, the cow was brought into being by the universe.
The cow was very curious about its existence and asked a lot of questions of the universe.
"what am I?" it asked.
"a cow" the universe relied.
"why am I here?" it asked
"to be a cow" the universe relied, and nudged a pile of hay nearby, trying to distract her from digging deeper into that question.
The universe has a lot on its plate, existentially speaking, and in the past its gotten a bit fed up with some of its creatures.
But after what happened to Adam and Eve, the universe learned to be more patient with inquisitive beings.
The success of cats is largely because they take responsibility for their own curiosity.
But the cow was a bit needier, seeking answers rather than exploration.
The universe hoped the smell from the hay would entice it to act rather than ask.
"What's that?" the cow asked.
"Hay" the universe sighed..."for eating," it added, hoping to keep the cow quiet for a while so the universe could focus on other things.
It worked for a while but as soon as the cow's 4 stomachs were full it started asking questions again.
And that's when the universe created a bull.
"And what is that?" she asked
"That's a bull" the universe replied and wiggled its existential eyebrows suggestively.
The cow headed over to the bull and chatted him up, leaving the universe in peace for a while.
The cow was content in until she started started noticing some changes in her body.
"what's this?" she asked, pointing to her swelling body.
"You're pregnant" it replied.
She got really curious about what that meant and became very hyper asking question after question about pregnancy and birth.
She remained excited throughout the gestation, asking questions to prepare for her for the birth.
But when the day came she relaxed, and stayed focused on the task at hand. And after she gave birth, she was exhausted!
Nevertheless, she pulled herself together, looked at the baby that she brought in to the world and, predictably, asked the universe:
"What's that?"
"A calf" the universe sighed, trying to accept the relentless inquisitiveness of the cow.
"Ohhhh!" she sighed, "that explains it!"
The universe blinked. It couldn't help itself.
"Explains what?" it asked.
"Why I'm so tired!"
The universe paused.
"it's because," the cow said, "I'm decalfinated".
And the universe took the power of speech away from the cow for eternity.

βDaddy, where do I come from?β
His poor father started sweating, knowing that one day his son would want to know all about βitβ. He looked around for his wife to take on the explanation, but she was out at the shops. It was no good, his father thought. βItβs time he knewβ and took the young lad to one side and explained how mummy and daddy met and then married and wanted to produce a baby and, well, you know the rest. After much awkwardness and embarrassment, after nearly an hour, the dad finally reached the point in the story where his son was born in hospital. The young boyβs face just stared back, mouth open and speechless. βSo, tell me son, why do you ask?β
The boy, still in shock, said. βBilly Clark in our class, said he was from Chicagoβ
Just then a blind man appeared on a nearby path. The man asked the farmer what he was doing, and the farmer told him about his problem. The farmer told the man how he had tried everything, from singing to the trees, to shaking them, to blowing on them. The blind man thought for a minute and then instructed the farmer to try listening to the trees, because their song was not being heard. The farmer was skeptical, but figured he may as well try. He put his ear up to one of the small apples, and could barely hear the faintest song playing. He turned to ask the blind man how to hear it better but the man had disappeared.
Later that day the man told his wife, Andrea, all about what had happened. The wife was skeptical as well, but she told her husband to talk to their friend Jim the beet farmer, because he always had a healthy crop. The farmer obliged his wife and went and told Jim about his experience. Jim smiled, and he motioned for the farmer to come with him. The two walked to the middle of a field full of red beets. In the very center they found two golden beets. Jim told his friend to take the golden beets, and bury them into the soil near his orchard.
Night was approaching, but the farmer agreed to do what he was told. He thanked his friend and took the two beets to the center of his orchard, while his wife Andrea looked on. As he pushed them into the ground he started to hear the song of the trees. The song was a little louder, but still very quiet.
The farmer dug up the beets and began moving them to other spots. He soon noticed that as he buried them closer to his wife, the louder the song became and the apples actually started growing. The farmer, excited by his discover, ran over to his wife and stuck the beets into the soil at her feet. The apple orchard sung loudly and came to life with new growth. The farmer had the best crop he had ever had that year.
Moral of the story: If you want to listen to apple music, try plugging in your beets by βDre.
