Should Hollywood do a remake of β€œMr. Ed”, the classic black and white sitcom from the β€˜60s about a talking Pony?

Of horse they should! Why wouldn’t nay?

I never expected the vintage movie I was watching to end with everyone doing a dance popular in the early 60s which is inspired by rock and roll.

It was a twist ending.

Blackboards were around long before the invention of whiteboards in the '60s...

Both are highly remarkable inventions. Chalk that up to man's ingenuity.

I’m hot!

My wife woke up in the middle of the night, threw off the covers and said: β€œI’m hot!” Without thinking I answered: β€œI’m just regularly handsome.” She fell asleep giggling.

(We’re in our 60s, married 13 years, nice to be still laughing)

My Inheritance

Back in my Senior year of college, my Granddaddy passed not long after my Senior Recital (roughly early April). After his passing I was informed that at some point in the 50's or 60's he had purchased the rights to a lake out in East Texas and named it Lake Givea. I asked my dad why Granddaddy named it that and he told me that neither he, my uncle or Granny ever got the same answer twice when they asked. I mention this lake as he left it in his will to me to now have the rights to Lake Givea and it was now mine. Bear in mind, this was also right after several storms had been through its area. A few weeks after Granddaddy's funeral, Dad and I went down to the lake to inspect it and see what was what with it and to start any possible repairs. We investigated and spent a lotof time trying to spruce up the place and schedule some much needed repairs to the area and figured we would check on it as things moved along. One week after months of repairs Dad and I decided to see the progress for ourselves instead of getting updates from the contractors. We stopped at a local joint near the lake to grab a bite and the news in a local paper that broke our hearts: after massive flooding nearby, my Givea Dam was broken.

He said it almost every car ride

While driving in the car listening to 60's - 70's rock radio station

Led Zeppelin, ACDC, Foghat etc. would come on and my Dad would immediately start singing. Somewhere down the line he blatantly screws up the lyrics loud enough for all of us to hear and would say...

Smacking the drivers wheel "Damn, I really hate when the radio stations mess up the lyrics like that"

A little history...

In the late '60s the government was developing ARPANET and the developers were trying to find a way for users on the system to communicate with each other.

The scientists involved came up with an electronic messaging system that they called the Tickle.

Tickles could be used to send important code updates, meeting invitations, or even just little jokes all along the network.

The DOD heard about these Tickles and asked for a briefing to determine their military potential. At a high-level meeting of generals and admirals, the lead developer presented the Tickle concept.

The ranking General asked for a demonstration and the lead scientist said "Sure, I'll send you a test Tickle."

And that's how E-mail was born.

The trouble with old age

My parents are in their late 60s (this is relevant to the dad joke), and our whole family was visiting for the day for my sister's and my birthday. While my mom was trying to fill the coffee maker with water my dad asked her how many candles he'd need to total our combined ages. She started thinking about it and poured water all over the kitchen counter.

My dad went around the rest of the day telling everyone not to ask her any difficult questions because she can't concentrate and hold her water at the same time.
