So… I Zimbra is in the first 40 seconds on the new Spider-Man Film!

I feel like Talking Heads are becoming increasingly popular as the years go by. They’re now everywhere in popular culture; and the fact that I Zimbra is in one of the biggest films of the year is a testament to this. Proud to be a Talking Heads fan ;)

zimbra install, upgrade and pricing questions

Hi,

can someone help me with following - company where i manage servers would like to upgrade mail server. they are currently use (quite old) server running dovecot/postfix combination. i would prefer zimbra, but as version 9 there were some changes regarding OSE - which would cover all of their needs - the problem is that 8.8 ose is supported only for additional 2 years - which is very short time period.

there are around 40 mailboxes at this moment, which is not quite an amout, but each mailbox is around 300 gb in size

i would like to know your opinions about following:

  • i would guess that at this point would be the most economical way to install ose 8.8 and do upgrade in the first quarter of 2024 - but my question is if i should be worried about the upgrade to the next edition (i've been using ose 8.x for quite some time, but never did major release update)
  • 8.8 is supported on rhel 7 (and derivates) / ubuntu 14.04, which are quite old and already EOL. should i be worried - my guess is that this adds some problems during the upgrade
  • can someone help me with approximate running costs of version 9 (pro and enterprise). i found practically nothing on the internet - i found something about 25 mailbox for ca 900 eur and 300 eur for additional years, which is OK; but i've also read about 25 eur (or usd?) per mailbox per month (which is a huge amount - far more than ms exchange)
  • i've also read about OSE Zextras build, but i'm a little worried about their support (it is free and open source build and at the end of the day they are not obliged to support it forever)
  • does anyone know about Zextras carbonio?
  • does anyone recommend any other solution?

thank you for your time,

blaz

Anyone using Zimbra?

I am considering moving away from Zimbra. I have an old Centos6 server needing retired and it runs Zimbra 8.

I have considered zimbra 9 but it seems they are no longer going to support the open source edition. And the install for zimbra 9 is made for older linux versions.

Has anyone moved away from zimbra and if so where have you moved to? I do not want to go back to squirrel mail lol :)

Is there a Dark Mode for Zimbra Web Client?

I hope someone can help. My company uses Zimbra Web Client. I just got my IT department to enable Themes but I cannot find any dark mode options. The bright white of the reading panes is hard on my eyes.

Thanks
