Workable Puns

Hi all, I am pretty new with shrimp tanks. I currently have 15 yellow shrimp and I have had them for a couple weeks. I figured now is probably the time to name them. I would prefer names that somehow incorporated shrimp puns. I speak English and French so "crevette" is on the table as a workable pun.

As a bit of fun, and to encourage discussion, I thought it'd be somewhat of a decent idea to reveal some of the Civilizations and/or Leaders in each region that did not make it into the Mk. III.

These particular Civilizations/Leaders are notable however for scoring the lowest possible amount of votes/preferences in each region. The reason I find threads likes interesting is to see what sort of information the community can deduct from raw statistics. Also, how do you expect a reasonable human being to resist posting a thread with a workable pun?

Anyway without further ado - here are the Civs and the Leaders that are recognised members of "The Order of Elimination" council.

Note: It's worth keeping in mind though that many of these civs were within 20-25 votes of the leader. Our votes are tallied by preferential order. In the majority of cases, the bottom civ never came close to beating the first civ in terms of Preferences (people ranking it higher than the winning civ) but they were usually within 20-25 votes of the Civ that came in second or third.

Whilst voting differences look extreme, remember that the First Preferences vs. Final Winner column only shows the amount of people who ranked the bottom civ higher than the top civ (vs. those who didn't) - and are not indicative of the total amount of votes received.

Looking for honest opinions on the tow vehicle. I have a friend who's looking to sell theirs. It's been well maintained and he'll give me a fair price for it, but I just don't know about its towing capabilities, especially for stuff closer to its max rating.

What other tow vehicles are considered reliable? I've heard there are a lot of landmines when it comes to the Ford diesels, and while a lot of the Cummins engines in Dodges are good, they tend to have transmission issues. Chevy I've heard have a ton of body, electrical, and handling issues; the more I look, the less I like. What's the Camry/Accord of tow vehicles for a ~9-10k trailer/5er?

What disc can you hit the most different lines with? Forehand, backhand, different angles and speeds...

For me, it's gotta be my 750 M3. That thing just flies how I want it to most of the time. Don't think it's torque-resistant or OS enough for a flex-forehand (or maybe I just don't have that much touch), but any other line is fair game.

Does anyone have a flight schedule to China starting in the UK anytime in January? I had one this week from Paris which was cancelled and can’t find another. I’m already 6 months late due to various delays. If I can’t fly out in the next couple of weeks, there’s basically no point me going this year I am a uni lecturer and I’d have missed the first semester and the start of the second.

Does anyone know a realistic route into China that’s still open end of January and start of February?

People keep saying March it will open up but my visa expires end of February, and there’s really no point. Pretty close to giving up now (despite the massive amount of money I’ve spent). But gonna give it one last ditch effort to try and find a route in.

I hate the draft. For me it is, without fail, the most tedious part of every season. Unfortunately I feel like I'm hurting my chances if I don't scour the whole player pool (despite no great success with it). I can't bring myself to just hit autodraft after the first five rounds as the AI inevitably picks low potential players with character issues. I know I have to carry some filler, but I hate having a 25 pot. rookie league reliever that's also clubhouse cancer.

I've been thinking about doing something like cutting it to five rounds, generate enough players for 8, and jacking international scouting discoveries up to the 24 or 32 (forgot what the exact options are) to supply the rest of my rookie league rosters - so roughly the same number of players would be generated (currently doing 25 draft rounds and generating players for 28). However, I'm concerned about this because despite OOTP's rather poor roster management and player generation quirks I've mostly been enjoying the talent level and statistical environment and I don't want to screw it up too badly.

Can anyone recommend a method they've tried as an alternative to getting most of your players from the draft that cuts down on time spent assessing players and was also fun?

I'm new to this(first) and have my grain spawning and going monotub route. What I want to know is there any acceptable alternatives to coco coir for bulk substrate? I have manure(zterile) and vermiculite. But I couldn't afford the only block of c.c. at my local spot. (It was huge) can I use shredded bark or moss.?

I often feel this weird twinge of sadness when buying a new watch— since wrist time is a finite resource, I know that every day I'll wear the new watch is one fewer day for wearing my other watches. So in a way, the more watches you have, the less you can enjoy each individual watch. And yet I see people on here with carefully curated 20-30 watch collections... how do you make it work?

I accidentally took a months long break from sculpey and I just realized I left my gallon baggie open the whole time. Im trying to make some earrings for my friends but my clay just keeps crumbling. In the past when it gets kind of dried out I’ve just kept smushing it and warming it up and eventually it became workable again, but this time it just won’t stop crumbling. Is all my sculpey ruined or is there anything I can do to make it workable again? Im usually a clay artist and for that you can just grind it up and soak it with some vinegar or water but I don’t think that will work for this lol

Edit: I’ve heard that adding oil can help? Does anyone have any experience with that, and what oil do you use? I saw most often online baby oil but I only have cooking oils and morracan oil for hair

I am attempting to make a checklist for my assignments in college, and I want to be able to click a button or something to then move the assignment I have completed to the completed section/ Bottom of the sheet. I am struggling on how to do that. I know there is a checklist option in the developer section but that hasn't done what I would like it to do. I would like to be able to do something in the completed column that will allow me to click or enter something and then it just maybe automatically goes to where it needs to be. I have fiddled with the filter and sort and nothing I am doing is doing it and I can't figure out what to google to tell me how to.

Use case or problem

I love Obsidian and I’ve moved my entire life into it over the past 3 months. But I can’t get over how neglected the audio recording/playback functionality is.

• You can’t scrub/skip through your recorded audio file
• The .webm format is extremely non-standard in the audio world, and makes everything about this more cumbersome. Recording in WAV would be so much easier to work with.

This is the only feature I badly miss from Evernote - the simple ability to reliably record audio, sync it across devices, scrub through it with a standard player, and drag the file out into other software later.

I’m disappointed to see the tone of the responses to bug reports about this - users are told to “download a new codec,” which is very opaque, nonsensical for iOS devices, and leaves us searching for random websites to make a basic feature work. I’m on a brand new Mac, latest OS, latest version of Obsidian, no theme, in safe mode. Still doesn’t work at all.

I’m an audio engineer and musician, and this is the only dealbreaker for me in Obsidian. I can imagine this is also very hard for anyone who simply wants to record some notes into the software to process them later. I’m completely invested in the app, pay for Sync, etc. Please address this and give us an audio recorder with the functionality of Evernote’s. It feels like this feature is an afterthought, and it needs some attention.

I apologize for the frustrated tone of this post. I love this app. I just want it to work well in this crucial area for me.

Rework this feature so it uses a standard audio format, preferably WAV. Reliable scrubbing on all platforms.

Hi - I have been running a UDMPro at home to test the protect setup. I really like it compared to Blueiris.

I would like to install protect and a unifi network (with unifi wireless access points) at six different physical sites. I'm confused at all the anger towards the UDMPro and not being a "multi-site" solution - and wondering if I am missing something in my proposed setup:

Site 1: UDMPro; protect cameras; unifi network w/ access points. Managed through site 1 UDMPro and accessible through unifi.ui.com portal.

Sites 2 through 6 - UDMPro; protect cameras; unifi network w/ access points. Managed through site 1 UDMPro and accessible through unifi.ui.com portal (same email/account as Site 1). I have not tested this but presumably I can select any site when I login to the unifi.ui.com portal through a dropdown or otherwise and view the cameras/network for that site / and switch through each site fairly easily.

Is this how it would work? If so, seems pretty good to me as I can buy a second UDMP at each site for redundancy and if it ever crashes, physically swap it out rather quickly (I would configure the "backup" UDMP on site during intial setup so I can just swap out the cables and get back up quickly if the worst happens).

I recently read (and then immediately re-read) the Strange Demise of Titus Endor by Dan Abnett. I definitely loved it, as sad as the story is, but I just couldn't come up with any explanation for what's supposed to be going on around Titus aside from his worm-induced delusions.

I get that large parts of the story are basically him hallucinating or blacking out because of the brain-worms, but it definitely seemed like there was also some other weird shit going on that defies explanation. Here are some questions:

1. Did Titus completely hallucinate everything regarding the supposed occult murder-mystery going on around the dancer (the bloody knife, the crime scene in the dancer's apartment, her open window and frost-covered room, the poster connecting her to the planet where Titus got the curse)?
2. More importantly, if the dancer really was just some rando that Titus was stalking, why did she apparently pay for Titus's funeral in advance, accurately explain his future cause of death to the undertaker and leave a note for Titus to meet up with the funerary firm?

The only explanation I can think of is that yes, he hallucinated basically everything, and also the story actually took place over a much longer period of time than it seemed, so that the dancer came to know Titus's condition and arranged for the funeral with her money. But in that case her sending the bartender to basically threaten a man she would have known to have dementia just seems incredibly cruel.

Any theories?

So I'm planning out a five-arc story. I have specific chapter details lined up for the first arc, and I know how each of the other four arcs will end. However, I haven't filled out all of arcs two through five yet. I do know how the story will end, roughly, and where I'm going to stop.

Feel free to ask other clarifying questions, but what I'd like to know is: Am I good to start writing?

I'd like to enquire if Zoo Tycoon 1 can be played with just the mouse as opposed to the mouse and keyboard controls. I could learn to use the left hand for the game, I think, if it's not absolutely needed to use the keyboard. Thank you in advance for your assistance.

For the simple fact that local interest rates will be higher (quite a lot arguably) than world interest.

Because other economies will keep operating with central bank and fractional reserve.

So people will rather borrow from foreign options than domestic ones. Making the whole banking system uncompetitive.

Edit: just thought that in that economy it would be one where prices were dropping continually. And as interests adjust for inflation, in that local economy the interest would adjust downwards, opposite to the rest of the world. So that may compansate. And, if that economy were large enough its amount of savings would effect the world interest rate.

Also, while the bank of Amsterdam had full reserve in the 17th century Holland also enjoyed the lowest interest rates of Europe (I don't remember whre I got it, I think it may have been on Jon Law's pamphlet, sorry). Though we have to take into account that private banks didn't maintain full reserve.

But idk, still unsure.

It took us a while but my buddies and I found an extremely simple solution to Point Defense success. Simply follow these tips to be swimming in attachments. 9 on intense. 4 on Standard or below.

Step 1: Buy all the mines. You'd think mines are bad. But at an average of 18 mines per Marine per Wave you will soon create a field of death and fire so powerful an entire Hive would shudder.

Step 2: Defend Point Alpha only. Put all your mines here every wave. Destroy and smash Xenos with any weapon you love. Gunners absolutely melt Warriors, Crushers, Prowlers, and Big Boys in the minefield of doom.

Point Alpha is by far the easiest to defend and create overlapping fields of fire without worrying about getting snuck up on with your mine cover.

A tech is nice for step 3 but not required.

Step 3: At 60 to 50 seconds of the Final Round 2 Marines split off and fully Heal Points Bravo and Charlie.

Then they beat feet back to Point Alpha and help out Marine 3. A caring Technician can even leave his or her turret at A for moral and physical support.

If anyone goes down at A it's a simple jog to pick them up with 20 seconds or so remaining. Heal up A. And then a quick run to the middle and you're finished up.

You have some leway in your 60 second window. And it's important to make sure B and C are fully healed up.

And it's even possible to crawl from Point A to extraction if someone goes down.

We've unlocked all 9 Intense attachments tonight using Minefield of Doom.

Hopefully it works for you. And yes sometimes a Big Boy can follow you to C. But with so many mines you can leave bread crumbs of Fire for his Big Headed ass.

Well, the starting gear question should be straightforward, do I only need to tweak marksmanship? My IMPs are very buffed, but I'd like something in 9mm so I can actually feed the guns while living off the land for a while, thank you very much. The IMPs are all 2x auto and heavy each.

The queen thing is a bit tricky:

I need to know how exactly the troop pool works. I want to start with 10k pool and 100 soldiers hiring max. But when will the queen hire her max? only when the troop pool is empty? She can make a decision every 90 mins, does that mean she can hire 100 soldiers every 90 mins, or only when her troop pool is empty? In that case I would go with a smaller starting pool and a higher hiring rate... When exactly is the queen's troop pool considered empty? When exactly can she hire more mercs?

I want to do my final setup for a full control of the map on insane ironman, and I'm tired of restarting after tweaking the rules. But this I actually never figured out and I got the rest of the settings finally figured out I think. Either way, I want a full playthrough this time, so once I start with adjusted rules - then I have to finish.

Was looking for some minis on eBay and noticed my Chapter Master (Gabriel Seth) has a metal sculpt. I already have the resin/finecast version.

But if I did want to grab a metal model, do they hold up well? Is the metal soft enough that you can cut it and clean up/edit the model? Or is it pretty much comes as is and any errors from molding are there to stay?
