A list of puns related to "Votive Candle"
Iβm sure we can come up with a reasonable price to hand it off. Iβm in Fairfax and work in Bethesda- willing to meet anywhere in between.
Mods if this isnβt allowed, Iβm so sorry!
Hi! Iβve searched the page and canβt seem to find information that is easy for me to follow lol
I am planning on pouring my own candles for my wedding next May. I have a bunch of different style votive holders from thrift stores that I am planning to use. I donβt want to make votive candles, I want to pour directly into the holder.
Is there anything I should know before I buy material? They will be part of our centerpieces so I would like them to burn for at least 6-7 hours. What wax/wick combo would be easiest for creating 54 candles that burn for that long? I will not be adding any color or scent.
Thank you in advance!!!
My boyfriend has lit a candle for St. Anthony of Padua at home and we are not sure of what we should do with the remainings of it. I am aware that you cannot just throw away some stuff (e.g. the palms from Palm Sunday, I was instructed by a priest the one I took home in ashes or to leave in a garden to return to nature) but we really do not know what to do with the remainings of the candle
Hi, I am looking for a good Botanica Store to buy some Votive/ Spiritual candles.
Looking for maybe some incense and other items to "purify" the house.
The house seems to have some bad juju right now.
I am looking for a very specific trigger, those rows of votive candles that are in catholic churches (a loop longer than a minute), or someone's collection of tall devotional candles, in the glass jars. I have found a handful of videos that show a single candle, or a group of pillar candles, but I'm having trouble finding the glass church candles grouped together.
At the Episcopal parish that I have been attending, there is a small table near the entrance with that I now know to be votive candles. I have searched for Anglican/Episcopal resources but I have mainly come across Roman Catholic explanations and some articles that discuss Eastern Orthodox candles. Would reading these sources help me to understand and possibly adopt their use into my personal worship practices or is there a uniquely Anglican approach? Thank you in advance for any and all responses.
Edit: After posting this, I did come across this video which gave me a better understanding of the candles' use
Hereβs a pic of one I just took a bike out of. I usually average eating a day. It doesnβt effect me. But I think itβs starting to weird my husband ourβ¦.
**edit, sorry canβt upload pic.
In the late 90s and early 2000s, Italians living in Veneto and Friuli were in a panic: somebody was leaving expertly concealed bombs in crowded places, often disguised as household objects, which would explode as soon as they were picked up, severely injuring the victims.
It didnβt take long for journalists to name this unknown person Β«the Italian UnabomberΒ», associating him to Ted Kaczyinski, the American terrorist who had killed 3 people and injured several others by mailing them explosive packages, between 1978 and 1995.
Not everybody found this nickname appropriate, especially since the similarities between the American Unabomber and the Italian Unabomber are very mild. A journalist proposed changing his nickname to Monabomber, where "mona" is a word that refers to female genitals, but it also means "idiot". He didnβt want the unknown bomber to feel "honored" by the association with Kaczynski.
Not everybody agreed with this idea, as they thought that the nickname did not fit the gravity of the attacks. That being said, I am going to use "Monabomber" in this write up to avoid confusion with the actual Unabomber.
(and also because "didckhead bomber" is funny and fitting)
CHARACTERISTICS
The attacks started in 1994 and ended in 2006, with a 4 year gap. They all happened in the regions of Veneto and Friuli, in the North East of Italy, most frequently in the comuni of Pordenone and Portogruaro.
The bombs are expertly made, with common, house hold items. His 90βs bombs are mainly pipe bombs β a plumbing tube filled with an azo compound, usually from fertilizers, fireworks and herbicides. After his hiatus, he comes back in 2000 with much more sophisticated bombs, this time made with nitroglycerin, and perfectly hidden in household objects like food jars, pens, and candles.
His preferred locations are very crowded places: churches, beaches, squares. He hits especially during festivities, where more people are likely to gather.
So, the first question is: why? Whatβs his motive? All of these 31 attacks seem completely random. He does not attack religious or ethnic minorities, nor politicians or law enforcement. He has never contacted police, he has never asked for a ransom or expounded any kind of political belief. Also, his bombs are small and designed to only wound, not kill. So whatβs his goal? Wreaking havoc? Some have theorized a religious motive: many of the locations were churches, and most of the attacks happened on Catholi

I have a LOT of silicone molds. Some I purchased. Many I made. My most recent mold was a pot sticker. I started by gluing a frozen pot to cardboard container. The container in question was a fast food carton that's used for plating fries. I like this carton because it was just a bit larger than the dumpling. Since the silicone mix I use costs $1.05/ounce, I didn't want to use a larger container that would then need extra silicone.

Whenever you're working with molds, you should always glue the item that's being molded especially if it would otherwise float. Dumplings float and a floating dumpling would defeat the purpose of a mold while also wasting a lot of silicone.
I also FREEZE the items that are being molded, especially if they're soft and pliable. Silicone can be heavy. I've seen it deform berries and cake slices. If you freeze these items prior to gluing them in place and pouring liquid silicone over them, they will hold their shape long enough for the mold to set.
The silicone I use is sold through Amazon and is produced by a company called BBDINO. It comes in two 1.1 pound containers. When the contents are mixed together, they create a liquid silicone which may then be poured over the item you're using to make a mold.

I use an empty 2 liter plastic soda bottle to mix the silicone compounds. Since the container is disposable, it's one less thing that I have to clean when I'm finished.
Some companies like DecorRom which sell smaller 10.6 oz. containers also include disposable rubber gloves and popsicle sticks for stirring. While I would recommend wearing disposable gloves, the popsicle sticks aren't needed if you pour the silicone compounds into a clean empty soda bottle and just swirl it around.
Pictured here is the pot sticker after I covered it with liquid silicone. Since I glued it to the bottom, it didn't float away and ruin the molding process.
