A list of puns related to "Virtual Safety Car"
This may have been discussed already but I haven't seen anything on it. Apologies if so. When Latifi got his puncture and pulled over to the side of the track it took quite a while for the Virtual Safety Car to be deployed. I believe this was for the marshals to enter the track. Should the VSC not have been out way earlier seeing as there was a car in a dangerous position?
I was wondering if caution times in a race can be shortened if the Series implemented VSC for minor stuff like small debris or a minor spin? It would also add a strategic element in the race if the pits were left open and cars do their pit stops while VSC is on. Would this concept work in NASCAR?
Why do we keep the normal Safety car? Wouldnβt a VSC be much better to simply always deploy?
When a safety car occurs, the drivers are slowing down. But the tyres also cool down and heat up again. I dont know how that would effect tire life.
Is it me or is the VSC completely dead? I feel like ever since Masi became the race director, no matter how out of the danger zone a stricken cat is, heβll always drop the full Safety Car. Moments like Magnussenβs car in Monza and in Austria, as well as I think it was Russellβs car at turn 4 at the same race, realistically could have been cleared under the VSC at most as they were completely away from the track itself.
I just want everyoneβs subjective take on this as Iβm curious. Sure itβs obviously changing these races for the better atm, but doesnβt it feel a bit too artificial that weβre having to throw a full SC for almost nothing in order to create a good race? As a bit of a true fan of enjoying race long strategic and gap battling, it does seem like itβs a dying breed as teams are literally basing their strategy around the high chance of a SC. I.e going long and waiting on the SC for a big advantage. Also, I want to know what purpose the VSC actually serves now if theyβre throwing full safety cars for these types of incidents? It does feel extremely underused to me atm. I kinda missed itβs rather different strategy variation.
Hello to all,
I wondered if a system of "virtual safety car" (in road category) in the sector concerned by a yellow flag, with obligation to respect a speed delta and not to overtake could solve some problems.
If ever this speed delta and overtaking are not respected, we can imagine a penalty system (drive-through or stop and go) to calm the ardors. And these penalties could also apply if drivers who caused a yellow flag cause 4x with drivers still on the track and under VSC.
The problem with the simple yellow flag signal is that few drivers actually respect it and see it more as an opportunity to gain a few positions.
It's certainly complicated to set up but what do you think about it?
Thank you for your answers :)
Is having at least just 1 Safety Car during 3 seasons of My Team Career mode too much to ask? I only get VSC, even when I've had crashes of up to 5 at a time in Monaco.
Does anyone know a fix? Yes, Safety Car option is on.
Yet again, one of those races (ilms@road america) where people try to do quali lap times on lap 1, spin and cause a pile up. You slow down, but instead of being rewarded for trying to stay safe under yellow flag, you get hit from behind and become part of the carnage. Race over basically. Could FCY or VSC help with the carnage that accompanies Road Racing?
I wholeheartedly agree. I have high risk relatives living with me, and the fact that my child can catch COVID-19 and not have to quarantine for an adequate period of time is concerning. Universities and schools around the country have the sense to provide an option for students to learn virtually and are doing so. So why can't we?
EDIT AS OF 1/4/2022: Why not just provide an option for students to either stay in-person or virtually learn? No parent, despite having high risk relatives or children, can possibly keep their child at home since schools are NOT flexible in providing virtual options.

What is the difference between using a safety car and a virtual safety car? Why would race control use one over the other?
