MRIs angio and venogram coming up

Hey guys I’m getting these done next Monday and will share results. I have had a β€œquality β€œ uro diagnose me with hard flaccid. He says I’m a classic hard flaccid case. That being said I do love all the different theories and do believe potentially there could be 3-4 potential reasons for HF depending on your scenario. I’m not sure what I’m expecting from these results however even if they are normal. I believe I figured my cause of HF. I believe I even know how to fix it, and that part may not be pretty. I would say it’s very similar to Ben’s general idea but there’s really a lot more to it depending on your case. (However caspers is very real scenario for some)Thank you to everyone I’ve chatted with as you have provided me so many different outlooks to hard flaccid. Once I figure this out I plan to share with everyone as no man should ever go through such a mentally and physically devastating syndrome. Being in the dark and in limbo is very difficult. Stay strong many of us are really trying to figure it out. We WILL get there my brothers!

MR Venogram: what to expect?

Had subclavian clot + rib resection in 2019 on my right side. Now having some issues with my other side. Time for a work up. My main issue is some left external jugular swelling when I lift my left arm. Also pain around clavicle that radiates as far back as my shoulder and as far left as my arm pit.

I contacted my vascular surgeon and we’re now scheduling a MR Venogram to get images when my arms are up & down.

What should I expect? Basically what I want to know is will an IV line be placed? Of course I’ll be asking these questions again when I’m scheduling the appointment this week.

Fingers crossed the issues aren’t serious. Maybe it’s all nerve related.

Chest venogram procedure?

I have a chest venogram on both sides of my upper chest next week and I can't find any information online of what the procedure is like. I'm a young adult but i'm extremely afraid of needles and often times need something like laughing gas to calm me down so I have no idea what to expect. Any information on what it's like would be greatly appreciated so I can mentally prepare myself.

Venogram and IVC filter

About two years ago I had stents put into my common iliac veins b/c I basically had poor blood flow to my legs. Then I had Endoveinious laser treatments (sp) to cauterize the smaller veins to force the blood flow to the larger veins and get them pumping more regularly.

Since my DVT two weeks ago, I've seen my vascular doc twice. Just saw him again this past Tuesday and had a second ultrasound done. They discovered that a piece of the clot has broken off and is stuck in my stent preventing good flow, even though I'm starting week 3 of my eliquis.

So now I've got to have another venogram, so they can go in and get a good look at this clot and clean out my stent. He mentioned possibly putting in a IVC filter, since it's apparent that my clot doesn't want to behave.

It just seems like the more I try to do right with this thing, the more things go wrong.

I'm trying to stay positive with this, but I'm normally a pessimistic about life in general. I'm reading your words of hope and wisdom, reaching out to friends, but eventually you get tired of talking about your health all the time.

Sorry just wanted to vent and I'm sure the one person I do talk to about my health is tired of hearing about it.

Can I have my G6 on during a venogram/angioplasty? And any other blood sugar advice while under?

I recently got a G6(I’m a T1), and I can’t get a definite answer from anyone about this. Some say yes, some say no. But basically I have this procedure next week, and want to know if I can have my G6 sensor and everything on during it? They told me that I’m under an X-ray the entire hour. Will that mess up the G6 permanently? Or will it just mess up readings for an hour? Asking because my sensor expired 10min ago, and I don’t want to put a new one on, if I have to β€œwaste it” and remove it before going into surgery.

I have to get this done in both my legs (fun times). My A1C is 7.4, so I think I’m ok for pre-surgery. But since I’m on the subject, is there any surgery advice for Type 1’s? Like what happens if I drop or spike during the surgery? Is that going to screw up the healing process or surgery? Does the kidney dye spike blood sugars? Should I carb fast if it’s a morning surgery? (Just have eggs) And if they put a stent in me, will that jack up my blood sugars for life?

Sorry for all the questions, just wanted to hear from actual diabetics and not from people who don’t have diabetes. Thanks for any help!

my feet have been purple for 1 year and no one can figure out why

23F, 5'8", 305lbs (I was previously 190lbs, but have gained a lot in the past year due to medication and lack of activity).

Medications: gabapentin, mirtazapine, pantoprazole

Symptoms: bilateral swelling, pain (burning, stabbing, tingling), discoloration, temperature changes. Sometimes my feet are red and hot to the touch, other times they're purple and cold. Sometimes one foot is red/hot and one is purple/cold. Heat makes the pain 100x worse, cold is the only thing that somewhat helps. Photos: https://imgur.com/a/ONHrRar

In August 2020, I started having pain in my feet. It just started out of nowhere one day and... never went away. I went to my PCP several times and they checked for diabetes, thyroid problems, lupus, arthritis, and a host of other things. Everything came back negative. By November 2020, I could barely walk. PCP referred me to a podiatrist, and the podiatrist did x-rays and bloodwork (both normal)and gave me a medrol pack. Medrol pack did nothing at all so they referred me to a rheumatologist.

While I was waiting to see the rheumatologist, I developed blisters on my feet and within days my the tops of my feet were covered in wounds. My feet were extremely swollen and I was in so much pain that I couldn't stand up, or even move my feet at all, without crying. I went to the ER and found out that I had three blood clots (non occlusive). Left popliteal, right popliteal, and right superficial femoral. I also had sepsis and spent a few days in the hospital being treated with antibiotics and heparin. Went home from the hospital on Eliquis and was told that the pain would start improving once the clots were gone, but it didn't. It kept getting worse. My feet would alternate between being bright red and warm to the touch, or purple and cold. They were swollen and stiff, and burned intensely.

They thought it might be a cardiac problem, so I saw a cardiologist. Several EKGs, a week long holter monitor, and an echocardiogram were all unremarkable. Saw a hematologist and they tested for clotting disorders (negative). I did find out I was severely anemic though, and I was treat with iron infusions because I can't tolerate iron pills. I also saw 3 more podiatrists, a vascular surgeon who all said they had no idea what was wrong. Saw a different vascular specialist in February 2021 and they did venous and arterial ultrasounds, which showed that the clots I had before were all gone. There were no other p

SERIOUS: This subreddit needs to understand what a "dad joke" really means.

I don't want to step on anybody's toes here, but the amount of non-dad jokes here in this subreddit really annoys me. First of all, dad jokes CAN be NSFW, it clearly says so in the sub rules. Secondly, it doesn't automatically make it a dad joke if it's from a conversation between you and your child. Most importantly, the jokes that your CHILDREN tell YOU are not dad jokes. The point of a dad joke is that it's so cheesy only a dad who's trying to be funny would make such a joke. That's it. They are stupid plays on words, lame puns and so on. There has to be a clever pun or wordplay for it to be considered a dad joke.

Again, to all the fellow dads, I apologise if I'm sounding too harsh. But I just needed to get it off my chest.

Opening pressures

I’ve got my lumbar puncture scheduled next week, it snowed pretty heavily this week or I would be doing it right now. As part of preparing for this I’ve been looking over my previous tests and my 2018 lumbar puncture opening pressure was 21.5. According to my research today depending on where you are determines what the doctors consider normal.aliem.com says most sources consider 7-18 to be the normal range. Oxford Medical says 20 is the top of the range and the good old NIH says 25. 25 appears to be what my neurologist is using.

I have bilateral disk edema, chronic intractable migraine (same migraine since 6/2017), severe vertigo, ear ache (with apparent fluid but no infection). MRI venogram showed a narrower than average left transverse sinus but no other abnormalities. I cannot take Diamox due to a severe sulfa allergy. I have not been able to find a reasonably local neuro ophthalmologist on my insurance plan…finding an ophthalmologist who would even see me even when on my plan was pretty difficult. Many only deal with cataracts. πŸ€·πŸΌβ€β™€οΈ And paying out of pocket for someone outside the network is financially impossible.

I’m fully anticipating another pressure that will be under 25, just because that seems to be how things are going. Pretty much all my test results since this migraine started have been β€œborderline” at worst.

Does anyone have any experience in convincing a physician to consider using ranges outside their normal practices? My neuro is excellent but her speciality is headaches.

I’m more than slightly frustrated at this point. I’m also absolutely terrified of losing my sight. Migraine has already stolen my photography & graphics work from me (computer is a huge trigger). Losing my vision would take damn near everything else too.

These aren't dad jokes...

Dad jokes are supposed to be jokes you can tell a kid and they will understand it and find it funny.

This sub is mostly just NSFW puns now.

If it needs a NSFW tag it's not a dad joke. There should just be a NSFW puns subreddit for that.

Edit* I'm not replying any longer and turning off notifications but to all those that say "no one cares", there sure are a lot of you arguing about it. Maybe I'm wrong but you people don't need to be rude about it. If you really don't care, don't comment.

Does anyone have experience with a venous stent after rib resection (last paragraph)?+ my story

I have had a long history with TOS so here's most of the story. I am 17 and have been a competitive swimmer and basketball player for nine years, training up to 20 hours a week. In 2017 I was in the middle of swimming practice and my arm got very sore and I noticed it was very swollen. I went to my GP the next day and they thought it was odd so they sent me for an ultrasound and x-rays. These both showed nothing. The constant swelling and pain persisted for about 2 months so I consulted physio. Physio thought I probably had microtears in my rotator cuff from overtraining and repetitive motions with swimming. I went to physio for three years and tried multiple people with different approaches. Whenever I swam my left arm (non-dominant arm) would get extremely painful, swollen, tingly, and discoloured. Physio, chiropractor and massages did not help with relief.

Physio told me I probably would need to just stop training for a bit to let my arm heal. So with covid lockdowns, I was out of the water for 4 months, the longest time ever for myself, and decided that if it wasn't better when I was back in the pool I would go back to the doctor. In my first practice back in the pool my arm was sore after swimming 50 meters, so about 40 seconds. This meant it was even worse than before taking time off as it used to take a few minutes for me to feel symptoms. I would also get symptoms from washing my hair or holding my arms up on the steering wheel.

I did some googling myself and found that all of my symptoms matched venous thoracic outlet syndrome. With this idea, I took it once again to a different GP and he agreed that it was a possibility so he sent me for more X-rays, a venous doppler ultrasound, and referrals to a neurologist and vascular surgeon. The ultrasound and X-ray proved nothing once again (I'm still shocked they never found that my subclavian vein was blocked after 2 ultrasounds??) and the nerve test was also normal. Nine months later I got in to see the vascular surgeon and he gave me some kind of arterial test which proved normal. He said I could just quit swimming if I didn't want to notice any symptoms because it wasn't really impacting my daily life. He didn't want to order me any other tests until I showed him a picture of my arm after practice and he could see how swollen and discoloured it was. With reluctance, he ordered me a venogram.

A few weeks later I had the venogram and immediately the radiologist showed me how my blood flow was complet
