A list of puns related to "Vehicular Combat"
World of Darkness but with a huge focus on cars. Cars, trucks, motorcycles, etc. Cars of Darkness?
Think Twisted Metal.
Think Sabbat organizing Rock n' Roll Racing-style death contests to see which shovelhead is the best driver.
Think Carmageddon.
Had a gnarly dream about this and it had me interesting in perhaps seeing something like this on the Storyteller's Vault.
Would this interest anyone or do I need to get more sleep?
Vehicle gameplay is core to this franchise. I keep seeing people wanting to take them out of the game by nerfing them to oblivion and suggesting smaller maps. It just doesn't make any sense that's not the identity of this game. What brings you to battlefield if not for the chaos?
platform: PC
year : Mid 90's
genre: Arena car/vehicular combat shooter
graphics/art style: I think future/realistic art style
story : Not much of a story as it was an an arena shooter
gameplay mechanics : Against the AI there is a countdown until everyone drives around an indoor arena with ramps picking up guns and power ups. Drive around killing other cars until you are the last one left. There was some great VO but I can't remember what it said. Pretty sure it was first person.
Here is what I remember:
Platform: Playstation 1
Genre: Action/Driving/3rd person shooter
Estimated year of release: '95-00s (maybe)
Graphics: 3D
Notable Character: The protagonist is a normal human in a space or driving suit (?) but the camera is so far back that he/she takes a little of the space. The main bulk of the game is spent inside a futuristic ATV or half-track, but your character can hop out of it any time.
Notable gameplay mechanics: I think it is a level-based game. Your character and the vehicle he is in can use rockets to boost you to higher platforms. Your vehicle is outfitted with several weapons to take out the enemy. You can also hop out of the vehicles and shoot enemies with the protagonist themselves although they don't deal much damage and are very squishy outside the vehicles they are in.
Other details: The only level that I could remember is being inside a cave, with terrain that requires your vehicle to "jump". Sorry that's all I could remember.
I am looking for a game with the following:
This is a category I seem to really love. Some of my favorites:
Some things I love about them:
Importantly, more that can be played on modern PC's. I don't have a spare Windows 2000 PC lying around, haha. MW3 can be played with some work, Freespace 2 has the Freespace Open project to get it working, MW4 works mostly out of the box, etc.
What would you all recommend? What are some of the greats?
EDIT: I have partially played Project Wingman, though I haven't completed it.
I think it would be awesome if we had an MMO where the basis was similar to car wars or mad max. I know we have had games like Auto Assault that were pretty bad but I would love to see something like Twisted metal and Interstate 76 as an MMO with a lot more vehicle customization and some sort of leveling with PVE/PVP gameplay.
Who else would want to see a game like this? Or if you have a similar Idea what would it be?
Platform: PC (demo was available on browser, but there was full version available to buy and install) Genre: Vehicular Combat / Racing Estimated year of release: maybe 2005 I don't really know Graphics/art style: game had 2d/3d? models but the view was top-down not very high quality really. Notable characters: emm cars ? Notable gameplay mechanics: So it was like circuit racing game where you could upgrade your car with weapons i think there was possiblity to pick up money from the ground during race. There was some types of cars and rockets, oil spill, mines I believe. Other details: so as far as i remember the was some NX in the name or something like that, like joe NX or xn but it may be also my brain trying to destroy my dreams of playing this game again ;-;
Platform(s): PC Genre: vehicular combat Estimated year of release: 2012 onwards Graphics/art style: really cartoony but 3d Notable characters: none Notable gameplay mechanics: there was an arena and a free roam mode Other details: it was free to play and I remember accessing it through downloading it from a website linked with primarygames or that type of flash game site
This is probably gonna be very tough, I have this mental image of some game I used to play when I was a kid on our PC. Some kind of racing game, which I think may have had weapons involved.
Graphics were pretty poor, very low poly.
All I can really remember from this game is this mental image I have, basically it has this jet black vehicle with bright blue flames - and I remember the map I was playing on to be fairly big with log cabins a bit here and there.
For some reason Monster Truck Madness keeps popping up in my head, but I know that ain't it. But could be from around the same era.
Solved! Game's called Monster Trucks or Thunder Truck Rally.
So the game is mid 2000s I'm pretty sure the story was based around a detective trying to clear his name I remember something about him trying to aquire this green liquid that could be used for nukes or something not sure. the gameplay that i remember was basically you being chased in a scripted chase scene while you shot at the cars with guns I remember the cars would get a red circle on them when you could shoot. I also remember a level where you have to defeat a bulldozer in a parking garage. And a part that went though what looked like a Jurassic park style area. I also remember a scene where your driving down what looked like San Francisco hills while a tanker truck rolls down the hill after you hope ya guys can help me on this one
I remember playing this game on an old Packard Bell computer. I feel like the name had something like 'Precinct' or 'Interstate' and perhaps some numbers like 2000. It was 2D graphics, including the cut scenes, which contained a huge amount of dialog, which I think was voice acted. There was a plot involving deceipt, I think think get exiled at one point. You get called by 'dispatch' very frequently, and thr gameplay, if I remember correctly, was largely vehicular based, shooting criminals in hovercars, etc.
The aesthetic was quite brown and grey, kind of post apocalyptic. I remember there being large city to drive around in, and outskirts too.
I've been searching for this game again for years. The most memorable thing was the cutscenes, which again, took up a big chunk of the game. I feel like they were similar to Metal Gear Solid in a way, where you have multiple characters as talking heads on screen every now and again, with some butting in with something to say.
Any ideas?
I remember playing a certain game around 2 - 4 years ago in which you would basically drive around in a car with various weapons (machine guns, cannons, flame throwers, etc.) mounted on them, destroying tanks, guard posts, and general enemy infantry. I remember the graphics were pretty good, it had a sort of diagonal-top down view and I distinctly remember a snowy level towards the end of the game. Though there was vehicular combat I remember no racing or areas where you play as an actual character outside of a car. The game was primarily story-driven and had a fair amount of plot to it, with different levels in a larger campaign. It had military and sci fi themes. Thanks in advance.
[I remember owning it in the early 2000's late 90's. It was a vehicular combat game. Their was an evil alien host that game announcements. The game took place in various arenas. There were various weapons you could pick up on the field to use to win. I believe there was kill cams. The game was very space, DOOM, Unreal Tournament like... but with vehicles instead of players. I kinda just want to go back and hear the audio from the game... cause the alien were pretty spooky. There might have been blood. I think the game was about a species of aliens that abducted other species and had them fight each other in their arena to prove their superiority. I think there might have been like kill streak like voice overs or to say the least evil alien retort depending on the pacing of the game.]
I talking about like where there's a race but you can sabotage or kill your opponent during the race. Get to the finish line at all costs type shit.
I don't know what you would call that or if there's a specific genre/tag for it.
Examples: Mad Max, Redline, CbBb, Space Dandy, Outlaw Star, Star Wars podracing
Can be either regular car or spaceship, doesn't matter.
Does anybody know of a n64 game about toy vehicle combat game (arial, terrestrial and maybe aquatic)? And it's not a part of the Army Men series.
Hi, I'm looking for an old top-down racing/vehicle-based game. It looks a little bit like Death rally or Rubber and Lead. But the game is more about sandbox and not very much about races
Platform(s): PC
Genre: Vehicular combat or racing with shooting. RPG elements
Estimated year of release: early 2000s or something
Graphics/art style: 2D Top-down sprite art
Notable gameplay mechanics: It's kinda open world, player do missions, change weapons and other. Probably player can trade vehicles or buy upgrades.
Other details: I think it takes place in the desert land, in the barrens or so
Platform(s): PlayStation
Genre: Area/Vehicle combat based
Estimated year of release: Around late 90s early 2000s.
Graphics/art style: Similar graphics style to rollcage but last I played was nearly 20ish years ago
Notable characters: I distinctly remember one of the bosses being an overweight Miner or a Construction worker and he was also on the game case and disc as well not so sure about the disc.
Notable gameplay mechanics: 3rd person vehicle combat game. I do remember the vehicles were like hover tanks or something similar. The games took place in arena style maps.
Other details: Starting levels you started out on ice based levels. One of the levels had a straight dead end with a load of ice based obstacles in the way in the middle. I do remember the games OST sounded like Midnight Clubs. I think the game came out around the same tim
Hi,
This has been bugging me for a few days now; there's a game that's definitely on Steam with a release date of early 2000s/90s and it's a top down vehicle combat with a weird alien looking UI similar to that of Cruelty Squad, lots of green pulsating elements.
Any help would be really appreciated it's driving me mad thinking about it.
Gaijin Distribution KFT had recently put up the trailer for Crossout Mobile, a mobile adaptation of their PC/Console action title in which players take place in wild and fun vehicular combat with other players. Crossout Mobile has received a release in Russia so players there can get the app directly from the Play Store or the App Store. Russia isnβt the only country to get it either, however, the list of countries where the game is available hasnβt been made official and Russia is the only location clearly confirmed to have access to the game.Β Read more about this news here
A while ago I finished Avalanche Studio's Mad Max and it left me with an itch for more vehicular combat games with personalization and upgrade mechanics. Upgrading my car's speed, armour and weapons to improve combat performance (rather than win a race) was uniquely fun. It was also a refreshing change from the typical RPG fare of upgrading swords, chestplates, and horned helmets.
Can anyone suggest games with similar features (offline, single player only)? I'm also interested in vehicular duelling games, such as Cold Waters where vehicles enter into one on combat with tactics. Thanks!
You could drive on walls in some maps and there were weapon pickups all around the map. Game also had campaign with bosses you had to beat, only boss i remember is big rusty truck in rusty area that was like straight from mad max or something. Me and my friend who played it cant find any traces of this game ever existing so this is my only hope
EDIT: It had 3RD person camera
Platform(s): PC
Genre: Vehicular Combat Racing, Exclusively Online Multiplayer
Estimated year of release: 2000s. I'm leaning more towards between 2003 and 2007 but I'm honestly not too sure.
Graphics/art style: I guess similar to most other car games of the time - maybe close to something like NFS Underground. Definitely did not delve into cel-shaded or cartoony one. Best way I can describe the setting is that you could see it as something that is modern - vehicles are far from old-timey nor futuristic. In fact, if my memory serves me right, the first vehicles given to you is like a coupe/sedan that could definitely be inspired from a real life car. However, vehicles do have weapons like missile launchers attached to them
Notable characters: None that I could remember, except for the announcer
Notable gameplay mechanics: It is a vehicular combat racing game. You have to win the race, not just destroy the other cars. Means of destruction are with weapons like Gatling Guns and Missile Launchers. I think there were pickups but I'm not sure if they only provided ammunition or if they were the actual items that would provide you the weapons.
Other details: Very noteworthy thing is that a male announcer would say stuff when successfully destroying the other cars, such as Takedown for a single kill, Double Takedown for two, Triple Takedown etc. Manner of speaking is exaggerated, with a thick Asian accent.
When I remember this game, the first thing that popped on my head were other games from gPotato, ijji, and similar game publishers/developers of that time. It's likely that it was a game that came from these similar publishers or game portals (so I'm inclined to think that it was a South Korean game)
Looking for anything where 2 or more people can do some good vehicular combat, preferrably PVE only. Any kind of vehicles(realistic or scifi or whatever else), and it would be cool if its something where we can actually strategize or work together with the vehicles.
I know of stuff like Warthunder, World of Warships/Tanks/etc, but do any of those have a purely PVE mode?
EDIT: C',mon, dig deep people. :P Are there really no more games than this that fit?
Platform: Pretty certain it was PS2 but could've been PS1 also
Genre: Vehicular Combat
Estimated year of release: early 2000s
Graphics: 3D graphics, more realistic artstyle with different types of spaceships
characters: I never played the story, if there even was one
notable gameplay mechanics: space ships, which where hovering above the ground, weapon pickups like rockets and different guns, a rather large arena (I particularly remember a frozen lake arena)
other details: I believe there was a team deathmatch mode. There was a killcam, where you would shortly follow the person who killed you. had split-screen and bot matches. The ships had different colours according to their teams. edit: it was a third person game.
I appreciate all effort that goes into this, since it was a game, I really enjoyed as a kid but can't really remember all that clearly.
SOLVED: Motor Siege: Warriors of Primetime
Hello. First post here, but I thought I'd try my luck. Back when I was in middle school, my parents were subscribed to a service Verizon had, called Games on Demand. Basically, it was like what Microsoft's doing with Gamepass now, where you would subscribe to a monthly fee, and then you'd get to download a library of games from different genres, some more obscure than others. We stopped using it shortly before I started high school however, and I'm trying to remember one particular game from that old service, Unfortunately, it looks like Games on Demand shut down at the start of this year, so I can't just check their list of games and see for myself.
What I specifically remember about the game is that it was a sci-fi racing game with hovercrafts, not entirely unlike F-Zero, Wipeout, or Star Wars: Episode 1 Racer, except in this game's case there was also a focus on the different vehicles having all sorts of weapons and shields, and there was a fair bit of focus on destroying your other racing opponents. I *think* there might have been a screen to customize what weapons and equipment your vehicle had, but it's equally possible that I might have been wrong and it used power ups found through the track instead. Art style wise it was more on the grittier, and possibly post-apocalyptic side of things, with the vehicles going more for designs that were trying to go for a utilitarian and grittier semi-realistic aesthetics, rather than the flashy, colorful and flamboyant designs you'd see in F-Zero. Most of the tracks I also think took place in outdoor environments, with a few having you race in or around ruined buildings or other structures. I also remember that the cover art of the game featured one of the main vehicles, colored a metalic grey and shown from behind, right in the center of the art, with the name of the game printed directly above the vehicle itself.
I don't remember the exact release date, but considering the point in time when I played it, and the level of graphics for the game, it almost certantly came out sometime between 2000 and 2007, and it would have had to have been out on the PC.
Sometimes I have weird dreams. Sometimes those weird dreams make for good game ideas.
So for this particular fever dream I envisioned a multiplayer boss battle arena where players were all in go-kart like vehicles armed with a variety of weapons. The goal was to kill the boss at the center of the track. Players had to alternate between driving like madmen to get out of the range of attacks to doing high flying stunts to hit high-up weak points to unloading their stored power into the boss' back while their attention was elsewhere.
This concept could also be expanded to tracks where you race alongside the boss like the ending of Jax andd Daxter 3. Also you could have another player be the boss of asymmetrical PvP.
Drivers could gain temporary damage multipliers by driving through boost rings or doing tricks, so fast and skillful driving resulted in higher DPS. Vehicles had pretty tight handling compared to most driving games so they could quickly face their vehicle towards the boss and unload with front-facing weapons instead of their weaker multi-directional ones. Vehicles also had jumps and hovers to make use of vertical layers of tracks and to get themselves off of damaging floors.
Generally being in front of the boss is dangerous so one player could try to distract them while the others shoot them from behind. Bosses could also summon minions or create traps that would have to be dealt with so the track didn't get too cluttered.
According to my subconscious this game was Sonic Baobao, a Japanese arcade exclusive that was later emulated and took the internet by storm. So you might want to look at procuring the rights from SEGA for maximum authenticity to my dream.
Platform(s): PS2
Genre: Action/(and I believe) Racing?
Estimated year of release: Early 2000's
Graphics/art style: This is actually the one thing I can't remember, forgive me.
Notable characters: There are two on the top of my head.
-The first one is about halfway through the game. It's a sleek white robot that has a really sweet and caring personality, but this robot was a boss fight. It drives around in a small ambulance-like white car and fights you in a snowy arena I think. After defeating him, a cutscene plays and it undergoes a personality shift and is now like a ruthless killing machine that is all for killing you. Its vehicle also changes to a more deadly and bigger... futuristic white tank?
-The second one is the end game boss (who I also believe was on the cover art for the game). You fight the guy in an arena that has some neon lights around and have some half pipes you can use to drive on the walls and climb them to pick up some weapons and to overlook the map. When you drop him to half health I believe the game is scripted that you can't move, and as a result he beats the crap out of you. A cutscene plays, and a boss you previously fought in the game actually joins in the fight and helps you.
Cover Art: The End Game Boss looks at you and his expression is either grinning at you or he looks mildly pissed off. Nothing noticeable about his features, but he is wearing a white half helmet. The entire cover art has red all over.
Notable gameplay mechanics:
- You drive around the map to pick up weapons and kill the other vehicles.
- Before every boss fight you complete generic missions in the forms of either racing or vehicle deathmatch. (This might be misremembering.)
Other details:
- After defeating every boss you can use their vehicles in the multiplayer aspect of the game.
- The first boss had a highly durable supped up... construction truck or vehicle with spikes I think. You fight him in a sandy arena.
