IW, can you implement a function that makes users put their phone number against their activision account like Counter strike does but for Warzone? This means banned players wouldn't be able to come back easily, hacking is getting a bit out of control

There's a lot of cheaters now and fresh YouTube videos are popping up everyday showing all the aimbots and people being beamed across the map. It's detrimental to what is otherwise a great battle royale

Need tips on setting up multiple User Accounts with almost privacy and control

What I want is very specific. Not sure if it is even possible hence asking for advice/tips/tricks anything.

So I want to setup my system in such a way that there is only one admin who has actual control over the system. Other user should merely be able to use their account without changing/viewing anything for/from other users. So the system design I have in my mind is

  1. Create an admin.
  2. Create 3 other standard users. 3.Only the admin should be able to install softwares that can be accessible by other users in the system 4.The admin should also have the power to install softwares specefic to admin only ie It should not be accessible to other users 5.Standard users should install software and shoukd be accessible only in that account. 6.I plan to partion my hdd into 5 drives. C: to install Win10, D: for personal files specificy for the admin account. Other 4 drives will be distributed among the rest of the users respectively. ie 1 driver per user. A user should only be able to see (in file explorer) and access the drive that is allocated to It. The rest should be hidden.

The problems I am facing are

  1. Not able to install some softwares for a specific user. Eg Vlc would always requires the admin cred. Ti be installed for a specific users. It gets installed in c/program files, but while installing brave browser for a user if I click no for the admin cred. prompt then it is installed for the specific user oky in appdata folder

Thats it. I am not able to go further step 3 .If you guys can come up with some good ways to implement this , it would be very helpful.

My main concern is that an std. User should neither be able to modify anything system wide, nor he should be able to any personal file bon other users.

I have some more settings that I want to include but can't remeber right now. Will update them When u remember.

A tool used to bypass user account control

I recently got a virus (which I have strong reason to believe came from Redragon Tech Support). I was working on fixing it myself and found that UAC had shut down the default recovery tools of windows.

They say fool me once shame on you, fool me twice the blames on me... my computer has been recovered, but I’m wondering if there’s a program out there or a series of executables that I can use to bypass this issue in case it ever occurs again.

Can i download a app on the Microsoft Store without UAC (user account control) popping up ?

OK here is my issue. One of my users at my job is trying to install adobe reader on his machine. Unfortunately his laptop was issued a while back and we do not know the (admin password) for the admin account on his computer "he is only a local user" therefore whenever he tries to download a program from the internet UAC (user account control) will require the admin password which we do not know. I know he could send the laptop back and i could fix it but he is far away and i do not want to make him do that. All he needs to do is install Adobe reader. In theory could get just download it from the Microsoft store ??? or will the user account control still pop up from the Microsoft store ?

PSA: User Account Control (UAC) and You.

In a funny post about User Account Control I noticed an alarmingly high number of people didn't seem to understand the importance of UAC and have turned it off.

UAC stops programs you're running from doing things deemed administrative unless you consent. Without it, if you are an administrator, every program you run has admin access. Every. Single. One. And that means if a program you run wants to do something bad it is automatically and silently allowed. If you're browsing the internet and a page, or an ad/element on that page, hijack's your browser it now has admin rights.

Here's a very recent example of major sites serving malware filled ads, not some shady "free shit here" sites.

Here's the results from PWN2OWN, a security competition where companies and teams compete to make a name for themselves and a few dollars. Not a single browser made it without being hacked.

You may be using ad blockers, but every now and then ads slip by. Every now and then you click the wrong download button. Once in a while you miss type a URL.

Not using UAC is like driving in a car without a seat belt. It takes a few seconds to buckle up and will add a lot of protection in the event of an accident. It doesn't matter if you're the best driver in the world, the idiot texting will still run that red light and t-bone you.

On the internet "that idiot texting" is a web server that has neglected its patches or uses a shady ad network.

Please, I highly recommend you use UAC. "I'm a power user I don't need UAC, I know not to run my_song.mp3.exe". That's great but all I hear is "I know just enough to know how to get into deeper trouble".

For more reading on why UAC is important take a look at this blog post. It's dated by a couple years, but the points stand.

I'll end with this, I'm not a security expert. I'm more of a jack of all trades IT guy. If someone with more knowledge wants to add something I'll be glad to update this.

User Account Control

so i was reading this, and it says that admin users have two separate access tokens (one standard and one admin)
does windows basically makes two accounts for the same admin user?
and does "running an app as an admin" mean switching between the two?or does it mean that the app itself runs as an admin (made the app an administrator)

I am somewhat familiar with the Linux environment, and wish to fully transition away from Windows, however some of my favorite games use a DRM that is dependent on UAC to function, and Wine and Proton are unable to run these games.

So, as the title says, is it possible at all?

Reset Parental Controls When You Can't Add New User or Access Existing User Account

I bought a used Wii U, and it has 1 account and parental control locks. I cannot access the settings menu through the existing account because it's password locked. I cannot add a new user because it's parental locked. I also cannot get to the correct error message prompts because there's no option for "forgot parental control pin" without getting into the settings.

I've looked on here and elsewhere for help removing the parental locks, but all the posts I've found assume that I can access the menu and settings to get a parental controls reset confirmation code. I can't figure out how to even access the settings without an account, and I can't add an account without the parental pin. Anyone ever encounter this problem and have a solution?
