Tubular Magazine Puns

I’m making a realistic Nerf Mossberg 500 style pump action shotgun. I’m nervous that the half-darts would get crushed by the spring of the tubular magazine. Are there any ideas on the internet to prevent them from getting crushed?

Alternatively, should I use the yellow nerf balls instead? I imagine it wouldn’t look as cool

I apologize for a simple question. I was wondering would I have any issues purchasing a lever gun (non 21lr) if the tubular magazine held more than 10 rounds?

I want an Uberti 1873 sporting rifle 24” .45 Colt. I know that 22 is legal but what about larger rounds. I thought finding a clear answer be a simple google search be easier.

Not the most amazing piece, but sentimental value is pretty high for me...

I accidentally allowed water inside the tube and didn’t clean it out properly. Now there’s rust on the spring and tube interior wall.

I can’t see any way to remove the tube from the receiver, the follower from the tube, or the threaded insert from the other end. Am I missing something? Is there anything else I could try?

As the title suggests, I am curious about how long ago speedloaders designed for weapons with internal tubular magazines were made, as they seem to be a much more obscure topic than, say, revolver speedloaders, where such information is quite commonly-available.

I want to do Appleseed. I have a couple center fire semi-auto rifles. But I don't want to spend the money to feed them for a whole Appleseed. And I foolishly don't own a .22. This is fine, I'm happy to buy one. The problem is... I'm really itching to get one with bolt action, and a tubular magazine (Marlin XT-22TR). And if I have one of those, getting a semi-auto, detachable magazine .22 would feel real redundant, for anything but Appleseed. I've seen people say it can be done with a bolt action, or with a tubular magazine. Sounds pretty uncommon to try both. I think I shoot pretty decently for somebody who's never really taken a class. But the tube mag accommodation really doesn't sound bad, and I feel like I could probably get pretty good at cycling that bolt. How mad am I?

Old repeating rifles and many pump action shotguns have built-in magazines (according to Wikipedia, I've never shot a gun in my life), so I'm wondering how many turns it takes to reload those.

My thinking was: 2 cartridges/bullets (whatever they're called) per turn. Optionally make an Agility roll for loading quicker (+1 per success and raise), but on a failure you drop the ammo.

Any thoughts?

I live in Chicago and am looking to buy a Marlin XT-22 bolt action 22LR rifle. I would preferably like one with a tubular magazine, specifically the XT-22TSR or XT-22TR. The tubular magazines hold up to 17 22LR rounds, more for 22 long and short. I want to know if this magazine is legal in Chicago. I believe it is exempt from Cook County's high capacity magazine ban, being bolt action and 22LR. I've been doing some research but would also like to hear other opinions. I'm trying to find an organization in Chicago that might know as well.

Is this rifle still in production? Anyone have opinions on this rifle? I’m not certain but I’m more into the model with the tubular magazine rather than detachable magazine model. I think with the 22” barrel it would be good to put a scope and a bipod to do some long range.

I don't want to step on anybody's toes here, but the amount of non-dad jokes here in this subreddit really annoys me. First of all, dad jokes CAN be NSFW, it clearly says so in the sub rules. Secondly, it doesn't automatically make it a dad joke if it's from a conversation between you and your child. Most importantly, the jokes that your CHILDREN tell YOU are not dad jokes. The point of a dad joke is that it's so cheesy only a dad who's trying to be funny would make such a joke. That's it. They are stupid plays on words, lame puns and so on. There has to be a clever pun or wordplay for it to be considered a dad joke.

Again, to all the fellow dads, I apologise if I'm sounding too harsh. But I just needed to get it off my chest.

Hello! I'm a new(ish) gun owner and have always had a big interest in shotguns throughout my life, though I haven't shot one until recently. I adore the ascetics of the pump and lever-action shotguns, admire the speed of semi-auto shotguns, and appreciate the simplicity of single-shot and double-barrel break action shotguns. I thought that was basically it in terms of variety, when I discovered the existence of bolt-action shotguns. I'm honestly intrigued by them, and really want one. But that's besides the point. I'm curious as to why they fell out of popularity, and if they are actually a very valuable and viable tool compared to the alternatives.

Why do I like them so much?

1. Capacity: I have seen single-shot models, and I have seen models with a 3 shot detachable box or non-detachable internal magazine, and I have even seen a model with a 5 shot tubular magazine, giving you 6 total shots. That's good capacity. It also shows that a large capacity tubular or box magazine is possible with this design, which would be really cool if these guns came back into popularity.
2. Simplicity & Reliability: I am a simple man, and I like simple things that are low-maintenance. While single-shot shotguns are nice for their simplicity, they lack in capacity. Double-barrel shotguns are simple too, but are much heavier and still only have a 2 shot capacity. Bolt-action rifles are only slightly more complex, have few parts to wear out, are super durable, and extremely easy to break down and clean while giving you larger capacity. Pump-action shotguns aren't "complex," but aren't as simple to field strip as removing a bolt. The simplicity of bolt-action shotguns also lends itself well to operation under stress.
3. Weight: It seems from my limited research that most are lighter than a double-barrel shotgun. not bad in my opinion. Think of how light one could potentially be with a polymer stock and a shorter barrel?
4. Versatility: It has rifle characteristics while having the versatility of the 12 gauge (I've also seen them in 20, 16, and 10 gauge, as well as .410). Slugs, Birdshot, Buckshot, etc. Though I guess you could say that about all shotguns. I would assume it can't use those drop-in caliber conversion parts popular with the "survival shotguns" but I could be wrong.
5. Uniqueness: I like unique guns, what can I say. I find them interesting and charming.
6. Speed: Depending on the shooter, it could be about as fast as a pump. I've seen people run bolt-guns ver

CHAPTER 8: THE DUNE SEA

“I can’t see shit,” Cooper complained, peering through his scope as he cycled through view modes using the bulky switches on his console. FLIR, infrared, night vision. Nothing could penetrate the swirling sand that choked the air.

“If this is going to go down like the ambush in the massif, then it’s gonna be like shooting clay pigeons,” the Sergeant replied. “The Rask threw everything they had at us, and they barely scratched our paint.”

“Yeah, well we don’t want to let them surround us either,” Cooper replied. He leaned over to give his commander a tap on the shoulder with his prosthetic arm. “Trust me, mate. Been there, done that, got the bloody t-shirt.”

“Just keep your eyes on the kill zone,” he said. “They’re supposed to be coming in from the West, but they may try to flank to our South.”

Charlie company was at the bottom of a three-pronged defensive formation, with Bravo and Alpha positioned North of them. The three mechanized companies had created a wall in anticipation of the Rask assault, with the Yagda and its accompanying artillery company far to their rear. The Kodiaks were spaced out far enough that they could only just see one another in the haze, positioned hull-down to make themselves harder to hit, their armor covered with camouflaged netting. Between them were dugouts that ran along the crests of the dunes, little more than foxholes that would provide some measure of cover for the huddling infantry, their rifles aimed at the slope below. Their IFVs were nearby, their own netting blowing in the wind as they stood ready to provide support for their squads.

“No satellite imaging, no drones, low vis,” Barry muttered from the driver’s seat below. “How are we supposed to see them coming?”

“God gave you organics for a reason,” the Sergeant replied.

The minutes ticked by, nothing but blowing sand filling Cooper’s viewfinder. The waiting was wearing thin on him, so many hours of nothing, followed by short bursts of frenetic battle.

Something suddenly lit up the swirling dust from somewhere above, Cooper switching to the Kodiak’s external cameras to see what was going on. From far to their rear, a stream of bright tracer fire illuminated the sky, the light diffused by the storm to make it fuzzy and indistinct. It was a CIWS gun, painting glowing trails as it weaved back and forth, trying to intercept something. There was an explosion, glowing like the sun as seen through an overcast sky, slowly fading as he watched

For context I'm a Refuse Driver (Garbage man) & today I was on food waste. After I'd tipped I was checking the wagon for any defects when I spotted a lone pea balanced on the lifts.

I said "hey look, an escaPEA"

No one near me but it didn't half make me laugh for a good hour or so!

It really does, I swear!

I don't think that the AKs are broken in any way, the RPK should have one less CQB damage, and the other two RPKs are somewhat too good and could see significant nerfs, but otherwise, the class is pretty balanced overall. However, they still could be better, mostly because of minor aesthetic problems, but also the lack of gimmicks as opposed to other classes. Also, while the SKS is not an AK, I will be considering it to be one during this post. This is a pretty big post, but a lot of the changes are relatively simple, and most of the length is from formatting.

First, aesthetics changes. The biggest change would be to completely rework optics mounting. AK-style weapons have a multitude of mounting options, but, unfortunately, this game has only the rarest and ugliest one (swept-back side rail). Additionally, AKs have a very high height over bore, so many of the optics in the game are mounted wrong. Gameplay-wise, it just feels uncomfortable to have the optic so close to your face. The way that I would suggest it be done is to divide optics into different categories.

None of this applies to AK-12s and AK-100s, except for the microdot mini not having a riser due to high over bore. Additionally, some AKs (perhaps AKM, SKS, and the krink, along with my suggestion at the bottom) should have optics in slot 2 instead of slot 1 as many people use these guns with wood skins, and wooden optics are ugly.

1. Russian optics have integrated side rail mounts like this kobra. (PK-A, PKA-S, PSO-1, Kobra, Piliad 3, Kobra EKP, OKP, PU-1, and PSO-1M2). These would normally be 90* mounts, although swept forward mounts exist.
2. Micro-optics are mounted on a rear sight similarly to a Saberworks KOP. (Pistol optics + Z-point, Microdot mini w/o riser, and Macro P-1)
3. Tubular optics and "optics" have swept-forward side rail mounts with one or two rings, depending on the optic example 1 example 2 . (Comp Aimpoint, Malcolm, Z24, OEG, maglight, AMT, and Global offensive) [these are 90* mounts on the krinkov and SKS]
4. Prism optics are mounted on a 90* side rail, but directly like this instead of with a Picatinny
