Fibrous Dysplasia in lesser trochanter (M40)

I have been having dull pain in the right side of my body for the last three years. I've seen 3 separate doctors over this time and have had various tests done (bloods, urine, ultrasound etc.) but never found the cause of my pain.

After my most recent visit to my GP I was sent for a CT scan of my abdomen. The scan showed a 'shadow' on my upper femur so was subsequently referred to having an MRI done to get a better look at it. The result of my MRI is that I appear to have 2 legions below my lesser trochanter identified as cystic fibrosis dysplasia. The report said they appear non-cancerous. Ive been referred to an orthopedic surgeon as there is 'risk of fracture'.

How likely will it be that I'll need surgery? Will I need a 'rod' put in my femur?

What allows the iliotibial tract to bend at the greater trochanter if it actually isnt attached to it?

In a lot of the diagrams I see, the iliotibial tract bends as though it has an attachment the greater trochanter, but that shouldn't be the case since only five muscles attach to the greater trochanter, and the insertion point of the iliotibial tract is the Gerdy's tubercle. Shouldn't the iliotibial tract remain perfectly straight in relation to the leg regardless of the position of the leg itself? Additionally, what prevents the iliotibial tract from sliding out of position?

Greater trochanter wider than usual.

So I've got a weird leg problem. I am 16yo male Other males have a relatively straight body and a good hip to shoulder ratio. But somehow, My greater trochanter sticks out more because my femur bone is more V shaped thna usual. I have flat feet but I'm not sure thats the reason. I also think this gave me knock knees. I've also recently found out that my left trochanter sticks out more than my right so that concludes that it's not natural. Here's a pic from another post in this sub reddit of what I think describes my greater trochanters

Question about the pelvis and greater trochanter.

So on a female hip there are two bumps. The first one is the pelvis and is the second one below that’s more subtle the greater trochanter bone? Or is it a muscle? Or just fat?

Where is the greater trochanter supposed to be relative the superior anterior iliac spine?

For example, if on a male patient the two are near vertically aligned on the left side, while on the right the greater trochanter is notably posterior and therefore much less of a vertical alignment, which side would be considered abnormal?

edit: I feel I should add that the left iliac crest appears higher than on the right as well

Trochanter bursitis and CPP

Same story as most of us here. Had been constipated for a few years, slowly pelvic pain (spasms) started aaand was constipeed as well.

My question to you would be, had any of you hip issues alongside PF issues? Around the same time my pelvic floor started to actually cramp at nights and such i somehow injured my right hip. I had an MRI done on it a few months later, and apparently i had a bursitis on the right side. Whats weird is, that a bursitis shouldnt last months. Got several steroid shots, but nope. Still hurts.

Now, i had an MRI of my hip again a few days ago, and apparently, there is absolutely nothing abnormal on it. I can't fcking sit for an hour. If i walk, hike, lie down or anything, im fine. However, as soon as i sit, my hip on the right side is trying to kill me. Its a dull ache at first, but gets sharper the more i sit.

Trying to figure out if there could be potentially some correlation between the two.

Anyone?

SERIOUS: This subreddit needs to understand what a "dad joke" really means.

I don't want to step on anybody's toes here, but the amount of non-dad jokes here in this subreddit really annoys me. First of all, dad jokes CAN be NSFW, it clearly says so in the sub rules. Secondly, it doesn't automatically make it a dad joke if it's from a conversation between you and your child. Most importantly, the jokes that your CHILDREN tell YOU are not dad jokes. The point of a dad joke is that it's so cheesy only a dad who's trying to be funny would make such a joke. That's it. They are stupid plays on words, lame puns and so on. There has to be a clever pun or wordplay for it to be considered a dad joke.

Again, to all the fellow dads, I apologise if I'm sounding too harsh. But I just needed to get it off my chest.

Make. Your. Own. Subs

I know ur sick of hearing it but I’m serious. The only time I feel pain and see fast results is by making my own subs.

I make anatomical subliminals so I feel pain when I listen. The first time I felt pain was in my pelvis for a hip sub, it only hurt until I stopped listening. Eventually, got results 4 days later. Stopped hurting.

I made my own sub again, and I’m feeling pain in my trochanter. The femoral neck to be specific. It’s for hip dips. My sub has affirmations for the trochanter and glutes. This is insane

Sharing experience with FAI Compensatory Issues?

How many of you developed compensatory issues in adjacent/nearby joints during your FAI journey?

I’ve got problems in my lower back, my ankle, and a little in my knee. My surgeon thinks that once my hip is mostly normal by the 6mo mark then I should start seeing improvements in the joints which have been compensating oddly.

Looking to hear from others on how long and successful your recovery was for compensating issues?

I failed both of my practicals in my first anatomy course of medical school. I don’t know what it is about Anatomy. I find it so hard. I have trouble distinguishing muscles. I attended all the labs, I practiced on my own, reviewed with friends, yet I can’t quiet grasp how to study this subject. I feel so hopeless and so defeated.
