A list of puns related to "Tethys Ocean"
Did you know whales evolve from a land based animal into an ocean-going mammal?
To look into the evidence we need to look at the desert, which I know sounds a bit strange when talking about Whales.
But did you know that the ocean used to roam across the current location of the Egyptian desert?
Approximately 37 million years ago prehistoric creatures used to swim around in the enormous Tethys Ocean at what is today the dry and windy West-Egyptian desert.
A graveyard of fossilised whalebones demonstrates the evolution of whales.

This is the 14th /r/SpeculativeEvolution weekly megathread, with the theme of Evolution of Continents and Oceans (Pangaea, Tethys, Gondwana, Laurasia, et al.) Post anything related to that general topic.
Also if you have any ideas for the future megathread themes, post it here.
So, I had an argument with a co-worker yesterday. We argued about how there are gods in different pantheons that have the same jobs, and how that is or isn't possible. Said co-worker thinks it is not possible, I think it is.
We were specifically arguing about the afterlife, the sun and the ocean. She didn't believe that all the different afterlives could exist, nor could So many control the ocean or be responsible for the sun. It would be too much and we'd end up with dozens of suns in the sky if they all did exist, or raging oceans, or a mess of afterlife and not enough souls to fill them.
I, on the other hand, believe the Gods do exist, all of them, and it is completely possible. My way of seeing the three:
Afterlife: Mortals don't all believe in the same Gods, so for the afterlife would go to the one they believed in or fit best at their time of death. Like Percy and Annabeth will go to Elysium in Hades because they believe in the Greek gods. Those who die an honourable death with a weapon in hand might be chosen for Valhalla even though they don't believe in Norse Gods, like Magnus, because of how they died. Christians will go to Heaven, etc. It is kind of mentioned in The Kane Chronicles, I believe, that this is how it works. So having a number of different afterlives doesn't really change much.
The Sun: This I go with the "mortals see what they believe/can make sense of" theory. All the different sun Gods being the sun, sort of in different "layers" and the one you believe in is the one you see most prominently. If people believe in Apollo, that's who they see, and the others are there, just not noticed. If people believe in Ra, the Sun Chariot is who they see. Again the others are still there, just not visible.
The Ocean: We already know there are beings in the ocean that aren't active. The Titans Oceanus and Tethys remain in their lairs and don't interfere for the most part. So not all Ocean deities are hugely impactful. But all the different Gods kind of have their areas, I think. Poseidon/Neptune has most control around where CHB and Camp Jupiter are and in Greece/Rome. Aegir has control in the North Atlantic and around Boston. Nu has control around Egypt, but being on the verge of being forgotten has little power elsewhere. Aztec, Incan, and other South American Gods have control in South America. African Gods have control in African waters, Asian gods in Asian waters and so on. It also explains why different oceans and seas have diff

Mediterranean sounds more likely, but the inland sea in question is mostly located on the equator and has the size of roughly the indian ocean, if not bigger, so maybe its more humid?
Also, what kind of changes would we expect to see in the marine fauna and flora when coping with the increasing salinity and retreating shoreline? Also, what timescale should I be working with? The Tethys took forever to dry out (technically it's still not done, but nothing of note lives in the Dead Sea anymore, so I am willing to call it quits) but modern projections put the lifespan of the mediterranean after the street of Gibraltar closes at not much more than a millenium. Plus, are there any factors to consider that are unique to inland seas while they are still thriving (meaning before they are cut off from the ocean)?
I don't want to step on anybody's toes here, but the amount of non-dad jokes here in this subreddit really annoys me. First of all, dad jokes CAN be NSFW, it clearly says so in the sub rules. Secondly, it doesn't automatically make it a dad joke if it's from a conversation between you and your child. Most importantly, the jokes that your CHILDREN tell YOU are not dad jokes. The point of a dad joke is that it's so cheesy only a dad who's trying to be funny would make such a joke. That's it. They are stupid plays on words, lame puns and so on. There has to be a clever pun or wordplay for it to be considered a dad joke.
Again, to all the fellow dads, I apologise if I'm sounding too harsh. But I just needed to get it off my chest.

Before we start, I want to make sure one thing.
Returnal is not unsolvable mystery.
If there are questions, there must be the answers.
Gregory Louden, Narrative Director, said,
>We also leave lots of questions and hide the answers.
If we just consider everything shown in this game as unreliable and false, we can't make progress.
Of course, that would be also one of the answers Devs intended, but there must be other options besides the one where everything is just fake.
Because it is designed to trigger questions and find answers.
So we have to keep asking why, and make a guess based on the evidence.

Dad jokes are supposed to be jokes you can tell a kid and they will understand it and find it funny.
This sub is mostly just NSFW puns now.
If it needs a NSFW tag it's not a dad joke. There should just be a NSFW puns subreddit for that.
Edit* I'm not replying any longer and turning off notifications but to all those that say "no one cares", there sure are a lot of you arguing about it. Maybe I'm wrong but you people don't need to be rude about it. If you really don't care, don't comment.
