And Round 7 shall begin!
So, I've continued looking into humans and stuff. They were very...egocentric. The large majority of them believed the universe was made for them. This was expressed a lot in their cities. The light they used blocked out even the brightest stars. My personal theory is that it was a form of denial. Perhaps the thought of existence not being for them was an insult? They donβt seem to think like me, or the rest of the galaxy for that matter. An object or conceptβs mere existence angered them. They also asked too many questions! Is it really that hard to accept the universe exists without a reason?
Anyways, rant out of the way, Iβm making this log for a very different reason. The Galactic Society of the Preservation of Culture, Art, Music, and Storytelling, also known as the ever fun to pronounce, GSPCAMS, is taking records of as many orally passed down stories as possible. Iβm not exactly sure how, but I count as an indigenous people of HP-7βs polar regions. Must be my taste in music or something. Iβm almost certain they have this story in their records by now, but might as well. Hey, someday it could be the last evidence of its existence! Might as well have a summary then nothing at all.
Ahem! Okay, so long ago, a flying vessel crashed into the icy ground somewhere unknown. There was but one survivor. A beast, but not a monstrosity. Fearful, they stayed in the wreckage. Too afraid to explore, too nervous to repair its ship. Many, many storms passed, and their homesick built itself a stronghold. Emotion burst its skin, and it became spirit. To this day it roams the ice. Homesick, but too afraid to try and return.
In some houses they have a better ending. Some hero from another dimension kills the thing to save their home world. My retelling is very, very short. The full thing is several 700 page books long. Fun is the last word Iβd use to describe it. Have you ever read 400 pages just describing a makeshift kitchen? I did. I hope whoever breaks into my room to listen to these without permission does. Hi, Yaval. I hope you choke on your lunch! End log!
Guess who finally got some downtime! Itβs been a fun, painful, and overall long trip but we finally have our shipment. A Greater Duocrura! Iβve never actually seen one up close! Theyβre nothing like the beasts we have back where I was born. Theyβre from the northern hemisphere of HP-7. Maybe in Opystmim? I dunno, but that doesnβt matter. Theyβre beautiful! If we werenβt bringing it to a zoo, Iβd try and buy it. Actually, on second thought, thatβs a terrible idea.
Anyways, Iβve been reading older stories again. I still think the best classics are that one book from the acolyte Zanither and The Odyssey. The Odyssey should be more well known around the galaxy. A 400 page ancient book with origins lost to time? That sounds like it should be full of spells and curses! Imagine writing something like that just for it to be the last evidence of your existence 30,00 years later! I wonder what kind of people made it? They mustβve been great.
I hope theyβre doing okay. End log.
