A list of puns related to "Spokane People"
(Inspired by anotherβs post) https://static.spokanecity.org/documents/blog/2016/09/21/homeless-resource-pocket-guide/homeless-resource-pocket-guide.pdf
I'm a software developer who recently moved back to my hometown of Spokane, WA. I've been doing my own hobby game development for about 5 years now on top of my day job, and would like to meet other people interested in game dev / making video games.
I've tried googling and Facebook groups... But no dice. If it exists, I'd love to join a Facebook or discord group. If not, I'd be more than happy to set one up and organize it if people are interested. I'd love to meet anyone who's interested at all, even if they have no prior experience.
Can somebody point me in the right direction? Or perhaps you're also interested in such a group?
Like, why though?
Hi all! I recently got engaged!! Iβm wondering if anyone could give me some advice on how to do a elopement/small wedding in the area (less than 25-30 people). Iβm talking less than 5k total. Any venues, caterers, etc you would suggest? Weβre looking to do something in the winter so prices will be much lower. Thanks!
There was a thread earlier this week asking if people in Spokane wanted to join The Satanic Temple, and if we would participate in a local chapter if that could be made to happen. Here is some information you might want before joining up and supporting this.
I originally said I was down to join the Satanic Temple, and I did. I just have to figure out how to opt out.
I did some googling outside the website because I asked them a question in the contact us section which was not answered. The question was how he reconciled the idea of "absolute sovereignty" with "compassion and empathy" for other people, re: masks/antimasks.
I am actually NOT down. Lucien is a creepy racist, anti-semitic holocaust denying, ableist, pro-eugenics, etc asshole who didn't want Milo to be deplatformed, used alex jones' lawyer. ETC. I mean, he is realllly disgusting. I couldnt even read this whole thing.
Sure, there are some good things to buy into, but he's not getting a dime or any support from me.
I'm posting this because I just wanted people to not go blindly into that like I did and to know a bit of their history. Do some googling yourself if the following article doesn't seem to be accurate or something. There's plenty to find.

I always thought the rising cost of living in Spokane has something to do with Spokane being a highly desirable city since it is a medium sized city with a large number of things to do yet it still has that small town feel to it, then again the cost of living in Washington State seems to have gone up in the past several years, I don't understand why some are blaming the rising cost of living on Californians.
I just got stuck behind two consecutive trains on pines between the freeway and Trent. What's your horrible story?
Iβm looking for recommendations - good doctors (who & what kind), physical therapists that are familiar with treating hypermobility and / or anything youβve found helpful that is accessible in the Spokane/Cda area.
I want to celebrate like Iβm seeing folks all over the country. Anyone know if this is happening here?
This week we are hosting an in-person Community Beltane for the pagan community near Spokane, WA. Scroll down and you can find our listing. Its been over a month since I posted our info, and its not on the wiki yet. Does the wiki ever get updated? Any WIccan or pagan folk near Spokane, WA are welcome to come out.
Please only serious responses: Iβm actually genuinely curious why so many people feel negatively about Spokane, besides the obvious? I guess Iβve had a hard time getting real answers to this question, seems like people just spew on and on about nonsense saying βeveryone hates it here, donβt come,β Youβll regret it,β but never disclose their reasoning.
Iβm from the Midwest. My husband and I knew we wanted to live in Washington or Oregon, but didnβt think making a massive jump straight to somewhere like the Seattle area would be the smartest decision given the cost of living. We had friends who previously lived in Spokane and they said they loved it, so I looked into Spokane. I did my research and from a research stand point it seemed like a great place for us. I liked the fact that housing prices were comparable to what we were already paying, the arts are a whole lot bigger here than at home, the range of outdoor activities, we both would get paid more for the same jobs we were doing back home, the proximity to the mountains, the several lakes, the variety in restaurants, the food/flea markets, there were several colleges to choose from when I went back to school, the weather seemed nice. But doing research from a computer screen is never really quite the same as experiencing a place. And all my research was article related, not talking to people who actually lived here.
We have been here about 6 months, and about the only thing Iβve experienced is peopleβs hatred for this place. I mean I see the obvious reasons, there are several run down parts of town, there is a homeless population and rent seems to be on the rise. But arenβt those few things always in growing towns? And is that really the only reasons?
Iβm not trying to sound naive, or stupid or unaware... I really tried to understand this place before ever moving here, but it seems like maybe I didnβt do enough to figure out if this was the place for us. Both my husband and I pretty much grew up without parents or guidance, so weβre learning the woes of adulthood kind of slowly. Itβs been tough, especially because all I personally know is a tiny town in the middle of nowhere with a $7.25 an hour min wage, zero opportunities, horrible weather and nothing to do. Since Iβve only been here a few months.. I havenβt experienced any issues first hand and I seriously want to know everyoneβs reasons for not liking Spokane. I havenβt been here long enough to understand the complexityβs of this city. Iβm
... keep reading on reddit β‘I'm fairly new to Spokane, about 2 years now, and correct me if I'm wrong, but I have observed that prices in food in Washington already reflect the dramatically increased cost of server labor. So if you tip a percentage, you're tipping a percentage of the price of the food and additionally, a percentage of the cost of the server's labor on top.
That's really great for servers here, but it seems unfair to tip the same percentage when you cross an imaginary line to the East where servers are paid a quarter as much and then serve cheaper food to boot. If you tip 20% here, shouldn't you tip at least double that across the Idaho border?
What do my fellow Spokanites think about this?
My wife and I are going to be listing our home for sale within the next month.
Just wondering what the overall climate what like for buyers and sellers. Lots of offers? How much time did you list for? More or less than the listing price?
Just curious as to how much I'm going to sweat while we list our home. Thank you!
