A list of puns related to "Skulk"
This block would be the same height as something like fan coral, and appear as a set of gills (imagine the gills on the underside of a mushroom)
The gill would spawn naturally in skulk growths, along with being grown by the catalyst. A gill slowly builds up spores over a few minutes and itβs appearance changes when ready. Once ready, after some time randomly, or being powered by redstone, the spores are released in a brief cloud of particles and the timer resets.
When a player is caught in this cloud they become covered in the spores, making them able to be sniffed by the warden from a farther distance away. The effect will stay until the player submerges themselves in water to clean themselves off.
But hereβs the fun part. When an undead mob like a skeleton or zombie is caught in a spore cloud or steps on a ready gill, they become a βskulkifiedβ version of that mob. Skulk zombies and skeletons are unable to trigger sensors and can spread spores to the player by attacking them.
The warden may summon a nearby (quite a large radius) skulk mob to his position when attacking the player. If the player builds up, the warden will bring a skeleton up through the ground to assist. If the player is in a two-block tall space, a zombie will be summoned to snuff them out.
This new skulk block, not only making the deep dark and warden more interesting, provide some much needed texture to the skulk growths which were once flat with the occasional sensors or shrieker.
Sorry that this was a lot (and kind of a stretch). Hope you guys enjoy this thought!
Imagine the amount of traps you can create with them
this is a pre-1.18 skulk sensor, or just a skulk sensor that was placed in the world but somehow the "experimental features" esperiment was turned off, anyway i thought it was cool

Pretty self explanatory. Skulks seem to be directly tied to souls, as they spread when mobs die around it, and one of the blocks has souls spinning inside of it. Soul sand is presumably blocks made by the souls of dead people, and that makes you walk faster, so you being able to walk faster on skulk would be pretty neat and also not broken at all since you would only benefit from this because you run faster from the warden but the warden can still hear you and sniff you out, and the warden can literally teleport through skulk blocks, so itβs perfectly balanced. It also keeps logic in the game, because if souls is the thing that makes the boots go faster, and the skulk blocks are tied to souls then you should be able to use it there too
IDK where else I would post this, but if the deep dark is growing and the skulk is taking everything over, wouldn't it be cool if there were like zombies that have been taken over by the skulk or a skeleton or even a creeper?

Does anyone know which add on iPhone app has this? My 8 year old had it but lost it and canβt find it now. Thank you!
In keeping with the 'Soul' motif we have seen in the Minecraft Live coverage of the Deep Dark, as well as the visual design of the Warden and Skulk Catalyst particle effects, I feel it would be appropriate for the Soul Speed enchantment to work on skulk-related blocks.
Here are some images for visual comparison.
This could have the practical effect of allowing you to move faster whilst sneaking over these blocks, or (if increased sneak movement should prove inconvenient for building purposes, etc.), it could prevent you from making footstep noises whilst walking normally on skulk blocks and skulk growth. Considering that this 'silencing' effect will not apply to regular stone blocks in the vicinity of the skulk, it is not a warden cure-all β rather, a precaution the well-prepared adventurer might take to help slightly improve their chances of survival whilst navigating or escaping the ancient cities.
Given that Soul Speed only has fairly niche applications, I feel that this gives the enchantment a touch of renewed purpose, without compromising the challenge of the Deep Dark. Flavour-wise, it also checks out. Furthermore, as a treasure enchantment, it has an added level of accomplishment; you, the player, have quested to the Nether, and returned with a magical item that *might* just save your life in the ancient depths of the world β but heaven forbid if your boots break at the eleventh hour.

Skulk Gloom will look like a dark mushroom and can be obtained from skulk catalyst with silk touch. It can be used to make new blocks - skulk amplifier and skulk absorber.
Skulk amplifier takes redstone input, and will create vibration with the same power that can be received with skulk sensor. For example, you can use it to transfer vibrations from skulk sensor to large distances without losing strength (so you can detect which type of vibration it was with a comparator)
Skulk absorber will suppress light, creating darkness around it. Powering it with redstone will reduce effect of skulk absorber (redstone strength of 15 - skulk absorber will not suppress any light, redstone strength of 7 - skulk absorber will suppress only 50% of the light). Can be used with comparator to get light level around it
Fire (but not lava so as to avoid randomly enraged Wardens in the deep dark) should be able to more easily clear areas of skulk blocks when ignited in the deep dark.
However, the Warden(s?) will be immediately alerted to the damage and awake.
I think this would be a fun mechanic for player to mess around with if they want to βcleanseβ an ancient city or deep dark biome. But the catch would be an awakened Warden you have to deal with right off the bat.
We currently donβt have a enemy mob type (to my knowledge) that treats the literal fire βblockβ as hostile so I think this would create some cool interactions.

My theory is that the skulk is some sort of void corruption or void corrupted mold or maybe it take the form of mold. So when a mob is near the skulk cattalos and the mob dies it spreads the skulk right, so my other theory that backs up the first one is that the when a mob is near the skulk some sort of corrupted spore or whatever infects the mob and when it finally dies some of the void is spreading and the remains also become the skulk. And the skulk shrieker is ether a part of the skulk that has developed vocal cords or a soul of the dawned is trapped in there thus resulting in the shrieks.
Skulk Creepers, A Creeper that is infested with Skulk and Skulk Sensors, Now i know what your thinking (Why shouldn't the warden attack the creeper) Well, The Answer is, How often do creepers make noises? It never makes noises unless of fall damage, attacking or explosions, since there are no players in the deep dark.
Before, Mobs spawned in the Deep Dark along with the Warden, But then the Warden heard noises from skeletons, zombies and spiders so the Warden just took out all hostile mobs, except creepers, Then Creepers swam in Skulk then the Skulk Infested the creeper's insides, and now disabling it's explode on player contact.
Instead of the normal explode when near, It now has a new mechanic, It will have a Skulk Sensor on it's head, When it senses movement, It will ignite and explode, If the creeper is near the player but the player didn't make noise, the creeper would stand still.
Hi I have a question about the sneak attack +20-25 on thief empyrean armor hand. Do I wear it when I activate sneak attack, or do I have to wear it when the hit land?
Hello there
How does the Kommados Skulk About ploy, and their battle honour Shifty interact with Vantage?
Seeing as Shifty triggers when in cover and either in a conceal order or Ready, and you would not be a valid target if you have cover and are concealed, unless you are being targeted by someone with vantage.
The way i read it, if you have cover and are in a conceal order, both abilities would trigger, essentially allowing you to retain 3 saves (1 from skulk about, and 2 from shifty).
Am i reading this right?
Here is the clip of how the Skulk catalysts work.
It's very interesting that Skulk blocks drop XP when broken. When you break them with silk touch you are essentially carrying around XP. Not only that, the catalyst can also be silk touched and placed wherever you want. That means all you would have to do is hook up a mob grinder and you have a storable XP farm! (EDIT: Brandon says essentially this right after the clip, guess i should've kept watching before writing lol)
The clip shows the catalyst converting deepslate, but assuming it can replace stone as well you can use a stone generator to replace the blocks. The video also says more skulk blocks are generated based on the amount of XP dropped, meaning a mob like an enderman would create more skulk blocks. I can imagine an enderman farm that converts stone to skulk blocks to be silk touched by the player, providing you with infinite storable XP.
I've been so excited about this whole range of updates from 1.17 to 1.18 and now 1.19.
But once skulk sensors are added, you can effectively make landmines super easily, e.g. the one shown in Mysticat's video here. (This is assuming that skulk sensor blocks are easy to obtain, which I think they would be if they're renewable/farmable, which I think they would be)
Can these be made on previous versions too? Yes of course, but as far as I know only with puffer fish detector setups, and those are very fiddly to make. Now it'll be much easier so there'll naturally be an increase in all kinds of proximity traps.
People will be able to leave land mines all over a server world's surface, and if this becomes popular, this would mean that any piece of land you explore now has a small chance of instantly killing you. This would make exploring an SMP server in early game either much more stressful or much slower by forcing you to be very careful (e.g. you could build your own trusted road above the ground or mine underground but both would take much longer).
Currently, all you really have to worry about when exploring a sparsely populated multiplayer server is natural hazards like hostile mobs, lava, falling from a height etc. But after 1.19, with proximity traps so much easier to make, we will have to navigate manmade hazards too. Server owners may have to come up with their own rules regarding the use of such technology (which is ultimately a tool). I can't help but think of the parallel to humanity inventing weapon technology and unfortunately now being anxious in a world full of war and nuclear threat because of the shittiness of a minority of them...
In the deep dark i was incredibly excited by the idea of unique loot and here is a few ideas on how one example of a unique deep dark loot could work that could use some discussion.
(CRAFTING ITEM): The Dormant Skulk Antenna (name defo up for changes) is an item that could be found only in deep dark ancient city chests, it is a skulky growth that looks like a skulk sensor buried into a small rock. It would be quite rare and could be put into a smithing table with any tools or weapons (although if this is too many new items to add it could just be for gold tools, or maybe copper tools could be added) to create the skulked version which i will explain at the end of the post.

(MOB): It could also be an entity found on the ceiling of the deep dark very rarely that is a deformed skulk sensor; with a lesser developed ability to hear sound but a strong tentacle, you must build up to it and be a couple blocks away for it to hear you and it will do the glowy animation the skulk sensor has but it will not make a sound. It really likes copper and copper equipment as when dropped copper could make a loud clangy noise that this weaker sensor manages to hear. When it hears copper drop it will drop from the ceiling and try crawl towards it, creating noise that could alert skulk sensors as it drags its large tentacle body and rock across the floor. If you kill the skulk antenna, it will drop the item; a dormant skulk antenna, however it has the chance - when it gets close to you - to latch on to your weapon or tool in hand and become the skulked version. This is a different item and it increases the effectiveness of the tool and increases the durability by a small amount of around 100 points but only if it isnt in daylight or maybe any light level below 11 as if in these conditions it will reduce speed or damage or effectiveness of the tool.
(RELIC): As a single unique item that could be found in the coming underground cities, an old copper sword that is skulked. It could be green copper or fresh copper maybe with slower attack speeds as it gets more old. Maybe there could be a few different tools like a pickaxe too that has more durability as it gets older or maybe it is slower? Either way, the tool would work as normal in light but be more effective in the dark or at night.

... keep reading on reddit β‘The Skulk Teleporter would be an item that teleports you to other Skulk Teleporters, at the cost of something expensive
Crafting Recipe :
Skulk Shrieker in the middle, 4 eyes of ender around, and 4 skulk blocks at the corner
Place the Skulk Teleporter in the middle, then there must be 10 skulk blocks within 10 blocks of the Skulk Teleporter and 10 skulk carpets (the glow lichen-type skulk) within 10 blocks of the Skulk Teleporter, Once it is set up you need an eye of ender to use (You need 2 Skulk Teleporters set up in order for you to teleport) go in the middle of the Skulk Teleporter and right-click it with the eye of ender, once clicked, you will go down it as if it is sucking you, you will be blinded by skulk then after 10 seconds you will go back up but in a different Skulk Teleporter, Costing you your Eye of Ender
I posted it on the Feedback site - https://feedback.minecraft.net/hc/en-us/community/posts/4411536223885-Skulk-Teleporter
When a mob or a player is killed near the warden, the location where the death occured will also be "skulked"/contaminated by the amount of XP that would have been dropped or is actually dropped.
In the minecraft live show we got to see that skuld blocks kan have soul fire on it, because it can absorb souls(really cool :D). DOes that mean we can use soul speed on it!! Then it would be the fastes speed you could have with the soul speed inchantment, as it won't slow you down like soul sand does!!!
