I have been out of sailing a looooong time but have recently been re-bit by the sailing bug. In the past I have sailed (or crewed) c and e scow, and Hobie 16' and 18' as well as larger 35' & 36' (Island Packet & C&C respectively) sailboats, so while I am very rusty, I do know what I'm getting myself into and realize the E Scow isn't a toy.
That being said, the boat im looking at (1980 Melges) has been in storage for 7 yrs and the current owner has somehow "misplaced" the mainsail. I didn't ask how TF you can lose a mainsail, but its a moot point as it doesn't change the fact that it needs one.
If I buy, I will not be racing just pleasure sailing.
So, my questions are:

Price is definitely a factor, as this is a whim at the moment. It may bite me hard again, or I may not conjure the old passion again - I just don't know. Until I know, I want to keep my investment low.

I've been thinking about another themed build/character, focused on radiation/DOT damage, similar to how Malons are represented.
Naturally, the Malon Battlecruiser would be the best choice of a ship for this, looks-wise, but it's quite limited stats-wise and I don't think I'd be able to pull off what I have in mind. Too many ENG stations...
Are there any other ships in the game that either look, or can be made to look "ugly" with proper vanity items? I know the 8472 engines give a fluidic effect, so something with large engines may have a nice visual similar to waste.

I rolled up a Klingon for the recruit event and for the first 50 levels or so I did fine. But in the past couple of days I've broken quite a few ships on missions. I just figured out why.
A while back I had a made a spambar keybind that executes everything on row 7 of the abilities tray. But when I built my recruit I forgot to populate row 7 with powers. As near as I can tell, all I was doing by tapping the spacebar in combat was blowing kisses. (Although seeing the expression on J'Ula's face when I did that was worth getting blown up.)
