A list of puns related to "San Francisco Municipal Railway"
I'm asking on this sub cause my fellow Asians might give me better answers than other places. Just need to know what are the chances of getting a job with SFMTA. Are all the job openings on the sfdhr.org site or are there times where managers/supervisors ask employees if they know people who want a job so they don't post an opening for it? I only see two openings. One for bus drivers and the other is for some other job that I'm not qualified for. I know there's parking enforcement and cleaning jobs but I don't see opening for them. I remember asking a SF parking enforcement person if they're hiring and they say all the time but I don't know if it's bs or not.
I got an okay job now in retail but I'd like something that pays more and be in a different way environment. It doesn't even have to be with city of San Francisco but right now that seems like my best option.
Yet there was no one to be found in the streets from this panorama , can some explain why?
Hey everyone! We're here representing the San Francisco Community Housing Act. You may have recently seen us in this post on the subreddit. We're really excited to be here and talk to you about our initiative, which will start gathering signatures soon.
Because of the affordable housing crisis in San Francisco, we believe we need to fund a strong, progressive vision for affordable municipal housing, neighborhood services, and tenant empowerment, so tenants can stay and really thrive in the city. This measure is sort of a combination of Bernie's land trust model from Burlington, to let SF buy up housing of any shape or size so tenants can afford their rent, as well as social housing construction for low-and-moderate-income residents. Land that is bought up is kept in the public trust forever, with oversight and accountability, and all profits reinvested into the program. We also fund childcare centers in each neighborhood and transit improvements, so working families can drop their kids off and get to work easily.
Our initiative uses a $0.43/sq ft parcel tax on floor area paid by property owners, exempting owner-occupied homes making less than the median income, or $104k for a family of three, to raise over $210M in revenue each year. The square footage basis for this tax means that a non-exempt homeowner may pay around $1-2/day, but the Salesforce Tower will pay over $600,000 each year, which is one of the most progressive forms of taxation locally possible in a city like ours. While the city is allowed to buy up any property, prior tenants (if there are any) have to approve the sale, and are guaranteed their original unit if the city buys their building. If there are any vacant units due to new construction or people moving out, they will be open to low-and-moderate-income (10-100% of Area Median Income) San Francisco residents who have been in SF for a year (regardless of immigration status). Tenants generally pay 30% of their net income (after deducting taxes) in rent, but this goes up as income goes up, with a cap at 30% of gross income.
To fuel tenant input, Community Councils of tenants, elected by tenants (living in this housing), will oversee evictions, advocate for improvements, and can vote on rehabilitation plans to ensure tenant well-being. We also fund social services for tenants, and
