A list of puns related to "Ruination"
So the Ruination was a dumpster fire, but there are occasionally differences in opinion how it could it be fixed, if it should be attempted again at all. One thing is how they handled the issues of Irelia and Riven getting new weapons even if that raised problems. In Irelia's case that she can only levitate her specific blades and Riven taking a new weapon besides her classic broken blade would be out of character without some major character development probably worth of a full VGU. If you pick an option, I'd appreciate if you explain your reasoning, particularly if you pick option one. And if you pick option 3, you also have to pick two different characters to replace them with in the Sentinels.
what if agents had skins in the style of gun skins? Most likely will never happen but still, I really love the idea of having matching gun and agent skins. My first thought was Omen in the Ruination style, so I tried editing his art.
Who should I try next? Was thinking Glitchpop Killjoy or smth.
Here comes a really controversial one. Should Diana have been a Sentinel? On one hand, she makes more sense than 3-4 other champions that did end up Sentinels. That doesn't change the fact that she's more powerful than all the other Sentinels combined to the point that she's one of the most powerful beings on Runeterra and yet does very little. We know this because the comic version doesn't contain her and the "core story" happens anyway (seriously, Gwen's absence is more notable than hers. And besides giving a bit more character to Isolde herself, Gwen is just a silly plot device and literal dress up doll for skins.) Even though she can call down the burning white light of the moon.
So if the Ruination is ever fixed one of two things would have to happen in my mind: They would have to show the full extent of her godlike powers or just remove her. I'm curious to see which people choose. And I'm sorry to anyone who wants to pick "She was just fine" but simply put: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FPD5q6DC43M
A quick rant because Iβm salty.
I play in a weekly commander league and one of our negative-achievements is against MLD. I was playing mono red [[torbran]] and I dropped a [[ruination]] against a 4c optimized deck, destroying 5/6 of their lands. The other player immediately started whinging that this was MLD and I get a penalty for this. The other players were mostly unaffected but he was definitely out of the game at this point.
Our judge did rule that I committed the heinous sin of MLD and I was assessed a penalty.
Obviously I was pissed and I told him that his deck construction was bad if he gets bricked by one spell but I still lost the points (and the game), so I lost more than he did in the long run; MLD is a big penalty in my league.
What do you think? Can you run 4-5 in a way that doesnβt expose you to non basic destruction? I feel like itβs the trade off to get those colorβs tools because running only basics is not feasible. How is [[blood moon]] any different than destroying your triomes?
With some void particles on her abilities
I think a future skin line that Riot could add is a βPre Ruinationβ skin line (I assume it would be called something a lot cooler and better.) For the champions that were around and at the time of the Ruination. (Viego, Kalista, Hecarim, Thresh, maybe Gwen, Maokai, Yorick, etcβ¦). I think this would be a cool concept to see all the Camavorian champs as to how they wouldβve looked before they were all turned to champions of The Black Mist.
We have already seen what they could potentially do for Viego from the Ruined King: A League of Legends story and it would be nice to see all the other champions in their respective alive forms.
We already have thresh in his βhumanβ form in his Spirit blossom and Unbound Threah skins but, I think it would be neat to see him in his original monk attire. This concept/idea could also apply to Yorick. As for Maokai and Gwen, Iβm not to sure what they could do for them. But Iβm sure theyβd make them interesting aswell.
Say that Viego encounters Tahm right after Isolde's passing. Would have Viego been desperate/gullible to take a bargain from Tahm?
I know that Viego got turned to stone and sealed away. I know that all the corrupted champions got uncorrupted. But is the Black Mist still a thing? Are the shadow isles still shadowy?
The last Ruination poll I intend to do: Ruined Karma. So yeah, Viego manages to brainwash the literal collective sprit of an entire continent. Without ever coming face to face with her. Oh boy, that's certainly nerfing her in-lore power. So, how should it have been handled? Once again, "It was just fine" is not an option.
So, another controversial Ruination question: Sentinel Olaf. Was that an idea that was salvageable or not? Again, feel free to explain in the comments.
So just to understand it. Ruination is canon for League right?
Hence it's impact would affect the future of League lore if I am correct?
It's bad because they underutilized some characters, utilized characters without any regard to their respective lores and some characters might have their lores retconned for Ruination? Yes?

So, I'm still writing this sucker, even though I've had to deal with College taking most of my time. The Ruined King actually revitalized my interest and allowed me to shape some plot threads. I know the event has largely been decanonized outside of a few major points, but I hope if anyone wants to take a look or is actually still reading it enjoys it.
This is the third short story in this series, after the original Aljis and Aljis: Starstorm. I want to get opinions from people who haven't read the other stories...I don't think anything will be too weird if you are just jumping in here. For anyone who has read the first two, I'm interested in hearing your thoughts on this one as well.
Plot so far: Katherine Corrina, a half-robot soldier attached to Earth Army 2, has risen through the ranks on the desert planet Aljis, battling the monstrous worms and moths who call the place home. She eventually becomes commander of Pinnacle Base, where she has to uncover a clandestine plot led by an alien infiltrator. Afterward, she is promoted to colonel and given command of a capital ship built by the Centauri - onetime enemies of Earth now allied with humanity against invaders from Sirius. At the conclusion of the second story the Sirian Star Empire unleashes Operation Starstorm, an all-out attack on Aljis with the aim of clearing it of humans and Centauris and claiming its natural resources for themselves.

I want to emphasize that this statement has 0 hyperbole or exaggeration. The writers included him in the event but they didn't read any of his material, at all. Again, no exaggeration, no hyperbole, and I'm going to explain why.
Currently on the Universe website, Yorick has 2 bits of lore: a bio, and a short story.
In the bio, it states that Yorick is amassing an army of undead to combat the Ruined King. He has the ability to command the dead to his will, and he will use that power to fight Viego.
In the short story, Yorick refuses to give 1 single man a single drop of the Waters of Life because it would kill Yorick.
>This man was doomed, and if Yorick used the Tears of Life, he would be too. He closed the vial and let it rest against his neck.
So now that we established the only 2 bits of lore that Yorick has, lets see his "inclusion" in the Ruination event:
Yorick, with no army to speak of, not even one single baby ghoul, finds the 13 sentinels that he's never met or heard of before, immediately gives all of them drops of his Waters of Life which, according to the short story, should spell his doom. He is unharmed, and then has a chance to confront Viego but doesn't and just leaves.
The writers of this event did not read Yorick's lore yet tried to include him anyway and its so transparent that it hurts.
Here's my take on who should have been included in the event (mainly Sentinels of Light, but also the Ruined King).

Let me know if you have any questions/suggestions on where certain champs should go!
Edit: I've updated the list to put Pantheon at Tier 1.

In the Ruination finale they banished Viego, and Isoldeβs spirit returned to Sennaβs body.
In Sennaβs lore, sheβs been hunted and chased by the black mist since childhood because Isoldeβs soul entered her body as a young girl, and Viego controlled the Black Mist. So Viego had been pursuing Senna her whole life to reclaim Isolde from her.
But with Viego banished, Iβm presuming that he no longer has control over the black mist? If thatβs the case, does this mist still hunt Senna? Or is she finally free from it?
Bonus question: Is Runeterra still under threat of Harrowings? I only ask this because Viego was the root of all Harrowings, and they defeated him. So will Harrowings still occur, or did they put an end to them?

I really need to stop making cliffhangers and I will admit this one kind of got away from me.
First, I am lost, I don't know if the ruination event is canon anymore.
If it is it could have huge lore changes for Shyvana but are they positive or negative?
Shyvana was already in an uncomfortable place on demacia being a dragon and all before being ruined and killing a few demacians.
Should Demacia reject her even more? or understand she wasn't in control?
Should shyvana even care about fitting on demacia anymore or go somewhere?
Or maybe just ignore this happened and maintain her akward previous status as a varely tolerated but loyal demacian dragon soldier?

Most items cards and map tiles are still in shrink with the exception of Black Plague core game and Huntsman Pack.
Credentials-wise, I've been playing MMOs for over twenty years now, dabbling here and there but like most, spending the majority of the past decade and change on WoW and FFXIV. I've been playing League since early 2011, I've seen everything the story has to throw at us--from the Journal of Justice, to the "dark, secret past" meme era, to what seemed like a light at the end of the tunnel when the Universe site launched.
Above all else, what draws me to a game is story. It's why I like(d) WoW, and it's why I love FFXIV. And it's why I loved League, even way back then. Riot created a MOBA full of larger than life, bombastic and colorful cast members, when the other option was "Alchemist" and "Drow Ranger". I'm not usually one for PvP or competitive games, but a good story and a good cast will make me check out pretty much anything, and obviously I've stuck around for the past ten years.
Like most, it seems though, the Ruination event has left me wanting, to say the least. Everyone knows the amount of problems, there's been dozens of threads over the past couple weeks. Mischaracterization, bad dialogue, plot holes, lore contradictions, etc. Even in the "finale" today with Absolution, it was a mess. Where are half the characters? What happened with Pantheon? Where's Vex? Viego went down that easy? What about the fact we still have an entire upcoming game about him? I'm not going to go deep into the issues since they've all been said before.
No, where my concern lies is what this means for the MMO. Sure, Riot's done a great job up til now with the short stories, worldbuilding tidbits, adding new characters and details in LoR, and so on. But the Ruination is the first longterm, overarching major plot they've attempted in pretty much ever. And it bombed. Horribly. We should have had characters built up, we should have had a look at everyone involved. Not just new Sentinels, not just Ruined champs if that's the route they wanted to take, but everyone involved with the Shadow Isles and then some. Everyone involved with the upcoming game. Everyone who's dealt with the Mists in the pasts.
This was the chance to show how Riot could handle an MMO level plot, with a global scale affecting everyone in the world. I know people don't like supplementary material and complain about stuff not all self-contained in the game in WoW, but this really should have had more stories, more game-related content, more everything. We've still got four months to go in the yea
... keep reading on reddit β‘Hello there, My name is Souly and I am currently rewriting the whole SoL/Ruination event. This rewrites goal is to fix many of the cashgrab characters, add the characters riot just ignored, not undertone characters and bring a more satisfying ending to the tragic story of the Ruined King.
The plan atm is to rewrite the whole event and bring more story's. Currently there is a plan to make another Viego short story because of the RK game, a short story for Gwen and a semi reworked Gwen bio, and 3 part that will hold all of the events lore which I have called Sentinels of Light: The Last Dawn (Still wip and taking suggestions).
I am open to many ideas and you can ask me anything. If you want to discuss this with me my discord DMs are open (Souly#2425).
Thank you all for your contributions.
Plot so far: In the first story ("Aljis") Katherine Corrina, a half-robot soldier attached to Earth Army 2, rises through the ranks on the desert planet Aljis, battling the monstrous worms and moths who call the place home. She eventually learns of a plan to replace all normal humans with "halfrobs" like herself, and thereby relegate human emotions to the pages of history.
In the second story ("Starstorm") Katherine becomes commander of Pinnacle Base, where she has to uncover a clandestine plot led by an alien infiltrator. Afterward, she is promoted to colonel and given command of a capital ship built by the Centauri - onetime enemies of Earth now allied with humanity against invaders from Sirius. At the conclusion of the story the Sirian Star Empire unleashes Operation Starstorm, an all-out attack on Aljis with the aim of clearing it of humans and Centauris and claiming its natural resources for themselves.
In the first part of "Ruination", Katherine finds herself in the midst of a huge battle in space, as the aliens from Sirius attack Aljis. In desperation, she rams her ship into an enemy battlecruiser, sending both vessels spiralling out of control down toward a fatal embrace with the desert planet.
