A list of puns related to "Rimfire"
Late last year, I enquired about the merits of using a CZ 457 Scout as a compact rifle for an adult shooter. A couple of responses mentioned that a Ruger American Rimfire Compact would be a cheaper alternative.
In Australia, I can find the RAR Compact for ~$650-700 AUD, while the CZ 457 Scout is close to $800 AUD at the few dealers that have it. The RAR Compact's fibre optic front sight, adjustable stock inserts and 10 round magazine out of the box are nice, but the CZ 457 Scout has better fit and finish.
Either rifle would need to have their length of pull extended by an inch or so. The RAR Compact can be easily adjusted by swapping stock inserts but the local Ruger distributor advised me that they do not sell the stock inserts separately like ShopRuger.com does. The CZ 457 Scout would need a bit more work in comparison, but it's far from impossible.
What other features are worth comparing? Is there a clear winner out of the two?
Iβm turning 40 this year, Iβve owned plenty of firearms but never owned a .22lr. Iβve narrowed it down to the Lithgow la101 or the browning t-bolt varmint, as Iβd like it accurate, left handed and well made. Which would you lay your hard earned down for? Are there other options for around the same money?
Hey folks,
Looking to get a fairly top notch 22LR rifle for long distance shooting with my younger son (13)
I am lucky enough to have won a venom 5-25x56 from the SFRC draws and could stretch to about 2K for an absolute unit of a rifle.
I know Voodoo rifles are the total cream of the crop but they are more like 3k rifle alone which is much more than I can justify.
Is there another rifle I should be considering?
I am currently looking for great plinking/target rifle in 22 Mag. I'm still debating whether I want a bolt action or a very good semi-auto.
My question is for those here who own a Precision Rifle in 22 Mag. How does it perform? does it keep good groups at 50 and 100 yards? About how far out would you say it remains consistent, 150/200? How's the fit and finish and QC from Ruger? Have you had any issues that you've had to send it back to them for repairs or replacements?
Thanks for any insight.
I was wondering what the options are, if any, for a suppressor that would thread onto a target profile barreled 10/22 seamlessly with same outside diameter as the barrel. Additionally, is there such thing as a .920" diameter Mark IV upper?
I am wasting time at work, thanks for enabling this ponderment.
Question is basically the title.
I have a Ruger American Rimfire, I have scope I was recommended for it, the Vortex Diamondback scope. The American Rimfire comes in varieties with iron sights and without, I really wanted the ability to use irons so that's what I got. So I figured I'd buy some quick-detach rings and use those so I can plink with irons for fun and then hunt with the scope.
But I made a mistake and failed to think about the rails, or lack thereof, on the iron sights version. There's no rails, there's just these grooves cut into the side I'm not familiar with. I don't know what to call them, so I don't know how to go about finding quick detach rings for it, or what brands make them.
I messed up, could I please have some guidance?
I've recently picked up a new CZ and am interested in trying my hand at some precision rimfire shooting - PRS, NRL or just social plinking.
I'm interested in meeting others in the Buffalo/Rochester area who are active/experienced here or willing to just go out to shoot and learn.
Hi everyone,
I am new to rimfire rifles as well as scope mounting and wanted to look for some clarification/confirmation.
I recently bought a Precision Rimfire and didnβt really know too much about MOA until researching it the past few days. That being said, the rifle comes with a 30 MOA scope base and I want to be able to sight in the rifle at 25 yards. The scope I am using is a Vortex Crossfire II 4-12x40 with 50 MOA adjustment. I found that I may run into issues if I try to sight in at a short range and that going with a 0 MOA scope base would be better.
However, I am going squirrel hunting with some friends this Saturday and am unable to find any 0 MOA bases local or that will ship to me in time. I did find Burris XTR Signature Rings and wanted to know if I could offset the 30 MOA base by using +20 in the front and -10 at the rear.
Still very new to this, but just looking to see if this would work. This isnβt the end all plan, but more for a temporary fix.
Thanks in advance!

Sort of a bridge between standard 25m Appleseed and 400+ yard Known Distance Appleseed. This will be held at Kenmore (fantastic facility) on August 20-21. It'll go to probably 100 yards (maybe 200 but I don't think so?). Similar course of fire, but you have to adjust your sights/optics to compensate for bullet drop.
Should be a fun weekend!
At the $1200 range the CZ Varmint Precision Chassis MTR is looking pretty good but is it twice the rifle the Ruger precision Rimfire is?
Would like to get into nrl22 and have my children learn to shoot better at longer ranges.
Is there another bolt action I should consider?

Hi all, does anyone know if you can buy a coloured Chasis for the precision Rimfire? Would be a lot easier and probably better quality than doing it myself. Iβve had a look online but canβt find much. Any ideas? Thanks
Got my dad a 1022 for Christmas. I need a nice rimfire scope for it. No budget really, I know how scopes can be. Any suggestions or advice would be great.
Thanks
Basically my question is the title. I have an American Rimfire in .17HMR, I already bought a scope that was recommended to me for it. I specifically bought this American Rimfire because I didn't want to only be able to use a scope, but also regular irons. And that's what I got.
But now that I have a scope, and the American Rimfire has picatinny rails, how do I go about mounting it in a way that I can both use the scope and also still use the rails?
I know my question is dumb, but I really don't know what terms to even google so I know what to buy. Thanks in advance.
