A list of puns related to "Resew"
So I got into myog in order to try and make my own designs and so I may have bit off a bit more than I can chew for my first project. This is a waist/sling pack with an expandable gusset and a dropdown tablet expansion. Neither of those two features are necessary or even practical--but I made them!
In addition to my numerous construction mistakes, I did not have any yellow thread (note to self: when you buy new fabric, make sure you buy thread which corresponds to the color). This bag is made out of 500D (I think) pack cloth.
For my future projects I think i'll be switching to simpler, less obtrusive constructions--as this one is big and superfluous. It was a challenge to make definitely--but I find this new hobby to be really enjoyable.
I created /r/beyondpockets to help document my search for the perfect EDC bag ('murse'/'man bag'/whatever). In another dimension I'd like to eventually make it myself, and hopefully this yellow sling pack is the beginning of that journey.

This is the first time I've tried a large thin patch. The patch is somewhat stiff. I guess the jacket was usually pulled tight while I was sewing, because now that it's finished the patch has puffed up a little. I was pulling the thread pretty tight as I sewed.
Do you think it will settle more over time and be ok? Or would you take it off and sew it again?
I already resewed the damn thing once because I placed it too high the first time. It didn't seem quite as fluffy the first time. If I start over, I guess I'd try to pin it with the jacket being slightly loose so that it will stretch the patch once it's sewed. Obviously, I'd have to be careful that it doesn't stretch it too much.
Edit: I'm planning to resew it. I could use the practice.
Edit2: I resewed it... 2.5 more times. First time was too low. Second time was good except I realized I fucked up a section of stitching, so I pulled out half the stitching and redid that. Many pricked fingers and moments of frustration later, I'm pretty happy with it. No more puffy bulge.
I found it out by accident. I had to sew a button that fell off but I got the exact placement a little wrong. Now I need to wear a belt with these trousers which I didn't need in the past
[EDIT: obviously use within reason. Too big a change in your circumference and that won't help you, you'd need to buy new clothes]
I'm not happy with the last run of stitches for my tarp ridgeline. The thread is loose on the outside. It's a flat felled seam so it's the third stich which is mostly cosmetic. I am planning to seam seal it with sil-net but I want to know if I'll be in trouble if I pull the stitches and resew if, since I'll have a ton of holes with no thread inserted. Material is 1.1 silnylon if that matters. Using a size 100 needle with gutermann mara 70 thread
This is a bit rushed but tomorrow morning I will be taking a vacation and I was worried the build a bear voice box would be an issue with airport security. Does anyone know if its fine to take build a bears with voice boxes to the airport? (carry on)
Also a side question I really want to wash my Pawlette at some point so I've tried to search up how to open and close up build a bears, but all the videos/tutorials I'm finding involve sewing. My mom can help me out with that, but I feel bad if I have to put my Pawlette through that :( Isn't there a way to open her up and close her without cutting her open and sewing her up? I heard that the employees just pull the little string in their back's to close them up, so is there a way for me to pull it open and pull it close again?
Since I work nights, I've been spending my nights off working on a skirt. It's being made out of this nice red/black flannel. Well, since I'm working with dim lights, I didn't realize that the front 2 panels (with the pockets and buttonhole cover and topstitching) are wrong side out, while the back 2 panels are right side out. Now that I've noticed it, it's painfully obvious. The front is darker than the back.
So tonight I'm unpicking the back panels and making them wrong way out to match. I get to unpick the side seams, the waistband, the seams that I had finished. I love sewing :)
^((suggestions to save me from my torment are welcome))
This is my first text & first project, I've got a 1943 Atlas, it's a heavy book; 336 pages, sheets are 11" x 14 1/4". Over the past 77 years the signatures have detached from the spine as well as from each other. I'd like to resew it but, the original holes are considerably larger than originally on every single sheet, if I repair with Japanese tissue it will take a great deal of time and make the swell too big to put back in. Should I use thicker thread perhaps coated in wax, I could re drill new holes but that would further weaken the signatures. Has anyone dealt with this issue and what do you suggest? Thanks
