A list of puns related to "Research Doctorate"
I'm currently in high school at the moment and I feel like I should have at least some idea of what I want to do in the future. Just to give you an idea of where my interests are at, I'm quite fond of biology, math and the like. I don't really know what I want to do when I leave school, and although I've been compelled to do a doctorate and become a doctor, I feel that career path that might be too stressful for me. Having said that, I wouldn't mind specialising/researching in a field if I were to gain a doctor's degree, but it would be ideal if the occupation wasn't too stressful. I don't know whether this makes sense, but are there any professions that are paid just as well as doctors, but have the added benefit of less stress? Does anyone have any recommendations? I'm open to anything
"If youβre someone with a uterus, currently menstruating or not who participates in resistance training, Iβd love it if you took my survey! This survey will help to inform my upcoming studies looking at the female hormone cycle and muscle development. It will also be used to create questions for a standardized form coaches can use to better understand how best to support their athletes and how to match training to someoneβs needs. Itβll take about 15 minutes to complete the whole thing. If youβve got any questions about this survey or anything else, please let me know https://www.instagram.com/kimberlysantabarbara/."
Do any of you have experience both working 50% part-time and 50% working as a research assistant and pursuing a doctorate? Simply because you can also gain work experience. I would like to get testimonials because I think about doing it that way myself. In my case it would be in the field of statistics / IT. :)
Just curious, I still got a long way to go, but wanted to know if this is possible since many doctorate programs in general pay you/give you a stipend themselves.
My friend did his PhD at one of the Max Planck Institutes and he told me that he got paid more at Max Planck compared to the university where he got his MSc (not TUM). I'm not sure how he earned more assuming that both the university and Max planck paid him according to TV-L E13 at 50% (maybe from additional bonuses?).
Are PhD students at TUM required to teach? What are the benefits of doing PhD at TUM? In the Dep. of Physics at least, I know that they offer a "direct track" program from MSc to PhD so you can save some time.
For those who study with stipends, I think it simply boils down to which one supports your subject of research.
As a sophomore in college I am searching for an orientation to help choose a major that will correctly prepare me for a first career. Im considering chemistry, biology, geology, statistics, etc. just to name a few.
My Career goal is to do research that allows me to spend much of my time outdoors, if its in the mountains, even better. Any ideas or advice on how to achieve this is welcomed.
Thank You.
Hi everyone,
Like a good Michael Bay flick, Covid and lockdown pretty much blew up my coping strategies right smack in the middle of my ethics applications. It has become more difficult to exploit my hyperfocus. Things are progressing at a snail's pace and my interest is slowing. As a newbie researcher the unknowns related to project progress and timing are unsettling. I'm doing a pain related study with big data from medical records. That means I have extensive ethics hoops to jump through on 3 committees. I've been struggling to just get it done! By struggle I mean 4 months of writing applications and it feels like my soul is getting sucked away. But just like a drunk karaoke singer, I don't know when to quit. Failure is not an option.
So r/ADHD, how do I get my damn ethics done when I'd rather gouge out my eyeballs with a dull spoon? And bonus question, what particular areas of completing research and project management do I need to be wary of, and how can I mitigate problems?
Background Notes: What I'm really looking for is specific guidance on researching with ADHD. I'm already doing the basics- using timers, making a happy work environment, exercise outdoors, and trying to stay on track with planners. Trying to keep on a daily schedule too, but it is hard. Problems I've identified creating anxiety- Project progress seems slow and is inconsistent, lockdown motivation issues, and restarting work issues. I feel so disjointed. If I get focused for the day it's great, but then I have trouble picking up where I left off the next time I sit down to work. Project related hold ups make the momentum I usually feed off of for stimulus difficult. Lockdown working from home is getting old and more difficult. Meds are not optimized as they don't have my med at home here. I am on meds, but not my usual and not at a truly effective dose. Not much I can do about that atm. Impart your knowledge and share your experiences, every little bit helps. Thanks for the consideration, I really appreciate it!
Let me explain myself further. I currently have a bachelor's degree in history. Currently I teach and I truly do love it, I also live in a state where having graduate degrees wouldn't net me any more income so right now I'm not sure it would make much sense to go to grad school. But I still love the idea, as there are a lot of days where I miss reading hundreds of pages and doing research.
I haven't ruled out pursuing higher ed, I know it's super competitive and all. But anyways I oftentimes read works form historians where they talk about how they spent months or even years on end living in other countries to do research that pertains to their thesis. For instance I'm big into Latin American history, one of I think, the best works of history I've ever dove into was Jon Lee Anderson's massive Che Guevara biography. He said he spent like a year living in Havana to do research. I know he wasn't a student at the time, but I had a professor in college and I believe he told me lived abroad while doing research for his dissertation.
Does the school you are studying at pay for you to go abroad? Like how does that whole thing work? I'm currently kind of entranced with the idea of pursuing a doctorate and getting to live somewhere in Latin America for some time while doing research. I guess what I'm asking is how do students get to make these arrangements where they are still students in America but get sent abroad to do research? Is this rare or pretty common or what?
However, Iβm not sure how to tell Mr. Musk Iβm not paid enough to help him advance society by attempting to combine human and alien DNA, no matter where he finds the subjects.
Hi, I'm reposting as I just need 15 more participants for my doctorate research! Please feel free to share this post as well to increase respondants!!
I am looking for adults over the age of 18 with careers in forensic settings to complete an online survey about how the use of humour effects burnout rates in these jobs.
If you choose to take part, you will be asked to complete 3 questionnaires. These questionnaires will provide statements about your sense of humour, your work and a bit about yourself. You will be asked to agree or disagree with each statement. This will take about 15 minutes of your time.

Hey everyone I'm not sure if this is the correct subreddit for this, but I want some feedback on graduate programs. I know that I want to go to grad school for mathematics in an applied field. However, I recently took two undergraduate courses in Stochastic and Deterministic OR and really liked the subjects. What is the main difference between applied math graduate programs and operations research programs, and typically which jobs do people go into after their respective degrees. Any suggestions or advise would be greatly appreciated!
If you are over 25 years old and identify as white, please consider participating in an interview that lasts between 60-90 min. We will ask some questions about therapy and culture. Please contact Alex at alexwinder89@gmail.com to schedule the interview!
