A list of puns related to "Protest The Hero"
Here is the guitar in action for those interested
Consider this my NGD post but really NGW (new guitar week) for me. A lot of my time has been devoted to teaching guitar locally in my area and currently I have around 3-4 different students who go at their own pace so it's a lot to keep track of. I love my Suhr but I also wanted something that could handle single coil sounds, something that my Suhr does in the Strat-ish department pretty well. I definitely wanted something either with P90s or any form of "hotter-esque" single coils. I was between a Gibson LP Special with P90s or a SG Classic or a Fender Jazzmaster American Performer (these are great guitars, do check them out because they play AMAZING) but on a whim, started looking into Telecasters. And what I found was this, pictures are taken from the reverb post.
So...what is it?
It's a Telecaster!! More particularly, it's really a MJT partscaster comprised of really the best parts I could want for a guitar. It has a Warmoth neck, all one piece of maple it looks like with the standard thin profile so it actually feels like a Charvel (it reminds me a lot of the feel on the Guthrie Charvel). Jumbo 6150 stainless frets, a bone nut, Gotoh locking tuners. The body itself was done by MJT, a dude who does a lot of aged finishes on guitars as well as some pretty awesome relic jobs that look very natural. I was surprised how good it looked. Also, note the Fender Elite style cutouts at the neck heel and the belly cut. Overall, the guitar weighs about...6.8ish pounds or so? Pretty lightweight.
Aight, that's cool but what about them electronics tho?
Fralin Blues Special pickups with all Emerson Custom wiring done + a nice sturdy switchcraft jack. CTS pots are all Emerson really uses and they function really nicely. Just a straight up 3 position toggle switch, not much to mess up on.
How stable is this thing? Tuning problems, tuning issues?
I've had exactly 0 tuning problems with this baby and the biggest contributing factors are the bridge and the nut. Tuners are entirely secondary when it comes to stability and what's cool is h
... keep reading on reddit β‘So I'll say right off the bat, I love Protest. Living in Ontario, I've had the pleasure of seeing them over a dozen tours starting way back on the initial Fortress tour. Every album of theirs delivers it's own style while staying distinctly "Protest", and the Protest sound seems to be pretty unique.
Recommendations given when searching "bands like Protest the Hero" typically include their modern contemporaries in prog metal (bands like Between the Buried and Me, Periphery, The Contortionist) or stuff on the post-hardcore/punk/generally trashier side that they were closer to in the early years (stuff like Fall of Troy, Norma Jean, Dillinger). I love basically all these bands but Protest still feels to be stylistically separated from both of those groups. Am I alone in thinking this? Has anyone else found any other groups that they feel really match the Protest the Hero vibe?

It's pretty boring and the audio sucks, but I figured a few people might dig it. Enjoy! (Or turn it off immediately.)
I know that's asking a lot I just feel like this song is a hidden gem that I'm struggling to completely comprehend.
