If you had to draw or paint your favourite note without showing the obvious substance... E.g. for citrus, try to free your mind of yellow wedges. The smell of vanilla might not look like a skinny brown stick. Tell me what your favourite note looks like. Tell me several, if you're in the mood for it. For me, lemon is scattered icicle shapes and the color is mostly white with green and blue tints. I think it's cause lemon doesn't do anything to "warm" a fragrance so I assign cool colors to it. Vanilla to me is the opposite of skinny, it's a round blob, and while I do agree with the brown color, my vanilla brown is lighter, redder, more like marsala wine. Depending on the syntheticness of the vanilla, the texture can vary between gem-like translucent to velvety.
So I'd love to hear about your crazy scent visuals. I just had an idea that I want to try and paint a series of perfumes but I'll be honest... The visuals for each note don't come easy (?) and I don't want to force them. I would / might use yours in my projects if you don't mind.
For composition, my plan is to show the base notes as background color or gradient. Middles would be medium to large shapes as backdrop to top notes which I would show as smaller, more detailed shapes. And I suppose I'd use perspective & depth to show the prominence of each note.
Medium... I am not sure. I want to say watercolor but working with the masking fluid is such a chore. But I can't think of any other medium for this project. Any suggestions?
The first perfume I'd like to paint, as soon as I've gathered all the "note visuals" is, for some reason, Shalimar Souffle de Parfum.
today i want to talk about disability representation in kagepro and how i see it as a multiply disabled person. this project means so, so much to me, and it has by far some of the best disability representation i've ever seen in media. but i never see anyone talk about it! whether you're also disabled or not, i want to share my perspective with you and hear your perspective too!
also, there's a tldr at the bottom for anyone who needs it because i have way too much to say ;)
when you think of kagepro, do you even think about disability? it's a lot different than a lot of media that includes disability, where the whole story is about a main character with a disability and their "battle" with it. sure, this kind of story is important. but when it's the only story you get, over and over again, you start to want something more. you want stories with disabled characters who have more characterization than just being disabled. you want stories with disabled characters that aren't centered around their disability. you want stories where more than one character is disabled. and kagepro does all this and more.
in our main cast we have not one, but two characters who have chronic physical disabilities. of course, i'm talking about our beloved haruka and takane. takane has a chronic illness that makes her fatigued, need extra sleep, and occasionally pass out. haruka has a terminal heart illness, needing lots of care like frequent hospital stays and an in-home caretaker. they're put together in a special education class, which is reminiscent of how disabled students are often actually treated. they aren't given much attention or funds, they're stuck in a classroom that's more of a storage closet than a real classroom, and they have a goofy teacher who seems to have little idea of how to teach them.
one thing that stands out to me is that no one treats takane or haruka like they're different. ayano immediately befriends takane, and soon after our yuukei quartet are hanging out as a normal group of friends. no one cares about takane or haruka's disabilities. no one talks down to them or constantly makes a scene about their health issues. even kenjirou never talks down to them, and nearly treats them as equals even though he's their teacher. no one makes a big deal out of it, they're just seen as normal people, as they should be.

Some of us are lucky enough to have access to mental health support and have started to unravel how this plays out in every relationship, including the one with self. Yet, most of us are still stumbling on our own unhealed program projection.
- The voice inside your head that criticizes you is not an evidence based model. We look at our lives and see a ton of fuckery and then CHOOSE to apply that as "proof" that the program, our peers, and (unfortunately often) our parents were right about our ultimate failure as a human. We have internalized the hate speech of our captors and convinced ourselves that it is our "conscience, rational mind, realism" or anything close to the truth. If that "truth" sounds like: "I'm a fuck up, I sabotage everything, no one really likes me, they're plotting against me, I'll never get better, I'll never be loved, I don't love myself, the world is better off without me, I'm toxic" then I'm here to try and remind you that THAT was never true, and it certainly is not true now. Even the biggest chronic fuck-up has worth, people that love them, and value to share with the community. I know, because I'm her.
- Those who DO repeat this "tough love" terror talk back to YOU, are speaking to themselves. Unhealed trauma that refuses to be addressed gets projected on others. What we will not accept about ourselves we tend to "see" in the world around us. We are ALL at different stages in our trauma informed recovery, some are still more dangerous to others - or themselves - than the few. It's incredibly difficult to "not take being personally bullied" personal, and I'm certainly not telling you how to process it - but I just want to remind you that everything others experience in the world is reflective of themselves. We perceive the world as WE are and not the other way around. There's a lot of comparative trauma coursing through the collective, this either invalidates our "Survivorship" or those we share a past with. Either way, it's a deception and a diversion from progress.

update 12/7/21 I know this is weird but I’m looking for Asians from all backgrounds for an arts&media project. I’m making a career pivot from tech to the creative industry, and applying for a media masters at MIT. I need some help adding some more projects to my resume. It’s been a passion of mine to story tell and bring people together, which I couldn’t really do in the tech world. My background: I dabbled in tech journalism for a bit in college and completed a journalism fellowship at Stanford, but went into the engineering side after graduation. I was an artsy kid in high school, published editorial work, tagged along with some surf lifestyle brands and streetwear brands in LA back when I was doing ModelMayhem work (not even sure if they’re a thing anymore since IG took over). I had a decent following on Flickr which no longer gets the street cred it used to have lol.

I got to know Nate when he interviewed me for his Re-Entry project. His journey has been a wild one. As I understand it, the tipping point was when he scored an 8 on the Black List and he shared the news with his Twitter following, which he built up partly through his re-entry project.
The person repping him is Jeff Belkin, who is a very good manager by all accounts I've heard. He has other writer clients who've been on the annual Black List for at least a couple years running.
Overall, I would say Nate's Re-Entry project is paying off. Congratulations Nate!

I wanna try to draw my fursona as other species, but they have to be in a certain shape group/range, so it can't be like insects or sea animals. I'll probably do 3-5 of them and need ideas for the type of animal to redraw him as, any ideas? Real or fictional is fine. Common or obscure is also fine.
Are there any free tools to create graphs of your existing AWS resources? I'm aware of Cloudcraft but am looking for open source projects or simple scripts that I can run on my own.
