A list of puns related to "Phoneless"
Pixel 4 XL became unusable early December after the highly cited battery issue recurred (despite an RMA and repair back in October). Starting from then, Google Pixel customer service reps promised me that I would receive a Pixel 5 as a replacement since this is a repeat issue on my device. Since then, I have not received return instructions despite contacting them every 3 days. Instead, I receive the same response "As per the latest update, our colleague is already working to get the replacement processed on the account for you. You shall receive an update in the next 24-48 hours via email."
It has been two weeks. Each new conversation, I remind them that more time than the previously promised 24-48 hours has passed and I STILL receive the same response. I ask to if I can escalate my case to which I just receive further assurance that I will see an email in 24-48 hours. Blasphemy!
Is anyone else currently experiencing something similar to this? Or perhaps something similar in the past? If so, what was your resolution?
TL;DR: Team Google Pixel promised to replace my phone early December. Two weeks later, I am still phoneless and the customer service reps are literally useless.
Hi all - I am very much a fan of leaving the phone at home on a Saturday or Sunday to get some reading/deep work done. The obvious issue is that if someone tries to call me, I don't have the phone to pick up.
A solution to this appears to be the apple watch (already have airpods). I view this as a means to stifle my tech addiction with more tech. This does, however, leave the option to download iMessages/whatsapp or enable the use of these apps on my watch when my will power inevitably begins to falter.
What I like about the no-phone solution is that I have zero option to be distracted. I am concerned that I will revert to messaging/distractions on the apple watch despite the settings I have arranged at the beginning.
Does anyone have solutions to this? For example, disabling the app store on watch, parental locking the apple watch and leaving the key unmemorized in a drawer, etc.?
Thank You!
Lost my cellphone on a taxi a few weeks ago.
Was beating myself up for a few days, since it was a really stupid mistake (putting a large phone in a shallow pocket without zipping), and it was an expensive phone.
However Iβm starting to like life without a smartphone. Iβm no longer expected to respond instantly on all sorts of messaging apps and social media. The bar of communication went higher as people canβt just buzz me with a few taps. I also realized Iβm quite ok with not talking to 90% of my contacts - these people took up so much of my time with shallow, meaningless conversations.
Yes there are inconveniences, but nothing canβt be worked around.
Iβm staying phoneless.
is there a way to downloads tickets without the MLB app for smart phoneless people?
Did someone see him use his phone a single time? It seems like he is getting his routes all from people... Even when heβs lost he donβt put out google maps instead he asks for the way. Or every single ticket he buys is always personal. Canβt imagine going into a foreign country without the extra βsecurityβ of a phone.
Due to me being a pushover, I have no phone again. Doing everything by laptop. Let's see how long this lasts.
This is an app on iOS(unsure if itβs on android), and itβs super simple. Itβs like forest except it doesnβt have to be for studying, and it only tracks your total time off your phone. You just enter an amount of time you want to be off your phone, then leave your phone on that screen or lock your phone. Thatβs really it.
You could also invite a friend and challenge them based on the amount of time you spend off our phone.
Itβs been super helpful for getting work done, since I eliminated my biggest distraction, and itβs led me to start work a lot faster.
So im trying to get back into a 9-5 and I've been looking for a way to make a few hundred a week for food and bills while im hunting, preferably a "on your own time" or contractor type situation so I can be flexible. What I've tried: Assurance: decent pay, open hours, same day pay was really sweet, however my situation now is noisy and not ideal for phone work
Rev.com: Alright pay, did pretty well and got straight 5/5 until one got audited and I guess they were unhappy with how many inaudibles I used and got changed to a 1/5 a week later, and they suspended my account
UHRS: Work all the time, low pay, layouts a bit confusing and unclear, hit unavailable errors when I go to qualify for more hits
Verbit.ai: A joke, no jobs ever available
Appen: Same as above
Not sure where to go from here....data entry seems pretty promising but im having trouble finding open availability style jobs, anything else im missing or should check out?
Hey everyone
I have long recognized my addiction to the internet. I didn't see an escape. I literally dropped everything to travel and get away from my screen but my phone still possessed me, so I got rid of it for 30 days.
It was amazing. No more late nights scrolling endlessly through posts and images.
No more binging YouTube for the same 500 videos over and over.
No more headaches and confused thoughts.
I wrote a SHITLOAD because instead of going to my phone for comfort, I would write for comfort. It was fantastic.
So after the 30 days, I got another phone! I thought, I'll be able to handle it now.
HELL NO, 100% WRONG
I have binged like 5 hrs today and I've been nervous the whole time yet I keep watching. Wtf?? It's not enjoyable!
Does anyone have any advice for me? Wisdom from having been there? I know it's an emotional issue and I'd like to hear it from someone further on the path.
New to this subreddit, and trying to use my smartphone less. Right now I use my phone constantly. It holds most of my music, I listen to podcasts at work on it, I keep in touch with long distance friends and need to stay updated on work schedule changes and meetings for a nonprofit I volunteer with. At home I don't have internet or TV, so it's my only internet to look things up using data or if I want to watch something on netflix. However, lately I've just been getting really overwhelmed checking my phone all the time and responding to messages. It stresses me out to not respond because I feel like I'm being rude, but often I don't like having conversations over text/messenger and hate feeling obligated to carry on conversations on the phone. I still have to use my phone to check in with work (I work on location so checking in by text is how I clock in and out) and for meetings, but how realistic would it be for me to go phoneless for a week or two? How can I let people know nicely that I won't be reachable without making a mass post or message that sounds really self-important? I also don't want people trying to contact me worrying that something is wrong. I just need to detox. I don't even sleep without playing a documentary or something on my phone, and I feel like it's stifling my creativity. Have you guys done anything like this? Do you have any tips?
I dropped my iPhone 7 in the water and it got corroded and doesn't work anymore. I'm on a replacement 5s now and kinda need a phone so I'm wondering whether I should get a used 8 and wait for the 12 or just bite the bullet and buy the 11?
Probable cause:
I decided back a month ago to finally own up to something I've been saying since the Danger Hiptop came out. "My next phone will be a laptop."
The Ms. And I have also gotten really tired off paying for home internet and cable. Christmas was also coming up in the not too distant future, so a win/win/win, I thought?
Desert first:
I use a LOTS of data in streaming music, listening to podcasts and everything, see also: we canceled our home internet in June. We only pay $20 a month per data line this way Ave get Apple TV+ and Disney+ for free this way because we just bought the iPads we have brand new.
I use FaceTime audio to call anyone with an iDevice, and Google voice for everyone else. Airpods are essential unless I want all my calls to be on speakerphone. The battery life is fantastic for my use case. Having a screen this size for GPS is absolutely unmatched. lol
The broccoli:
I admit wholeheartedly, that it's visually silly being seen carrying an iPad at work and everywhere else. But the case i have is nondescript, so it looks like I'm carrying a portfolio instead of a tablet. It is a bit of a hassle when I'm out and about, but if I'm shopping, I usually snag a cart and chuck it in there, and I have a messenger bag that I wear on the daily.
It's not a laptop, for sure, but re: battery life, i feel that's fine with me. Don't get me wrong, I still have a computer at home and one at work I use on the daily.
One of the cumbersome things I dealt with at first was texting while walking. I have since gotten used to it, and swiping with the Google keyboard helps greatly. It's also a bit much to use to listen to music while working in the house and walking on break at work. For that, I picked up a Sony Walkman NW-A55. Yammering here about that and airpods pro: https://www.reddit.com/r/airpods/comments/e0zcee/the_odd_couple/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf
That's all I can come up with for now, anything else, AMA!
Edit: So the journey closes, and another door opens. The wife was tired of me not having a phone for almost two months now, and got me a note10+. I'm interested greatly in seeing where the iPP fits in now in my day to day. Left it at home today and I feel.. naked.
I recently changed my last name through the social security office in 2019. When I filed my 2018 taxes I used my previous last name. I mailed in my 1040 as soon as I had my W-2 early may. On the tracker for my return it says it has been received, but not approved. It has said this for several weeks now. I can't contact the IRS by phone to see if I have to refile. I don't have any access to an IRS website account because my credit card info is under my current last name and is a requirement to create an account. If anyone has any advice I would greatly appreciate. I have been locked out of the IRS website account creation tool for days on end now because they can't seem to figure out my name change issue.
