The thing I think many people fail to realize, is that they don’t need to plot crazy fast to make any money. Chia’s exponential growth is giving the false impression that you need to plot quickly in order to be successful. That made a difference a month ago, but if you’re just getting started today, it doesn’t matter if you’re able to do 5 plots a day or 50 plots a day. Being able to plot quickly just shortens the time to fill your drives, which means you might start seeing profit slightly earlier, but that’s a big if, and it matters little over the long term.
The part of the equation that does matter is farming capacity. If we’re talking from a cost efficiency perspective, you could salvage an existing computer or build a modest computer that is capable of doing 10 plots a day, and probably save a couple thousand dollars compared to a machine that generates 50 plots a day. Those savings can instead be invested in building your capacity. And here’s the best part…you can spread out your investment and buy more drives only when you need them, so you’re not burdened with thousands of dollars of upfront expenses for a project without any guaranteed income.
A few suggestions:

When you use tools like chiacalculator.com, push the time range out to 3 years. The 6 month graph looks prettier, but it tells you very little about your earning potential.

Space out buying hard drives. Prices are way over-inflated right now. You should aim for well under $20/TB when buying new hard drives, and if you can get used drives that aren’t failing, even better.

Think early about how you plan to maintain your farmer, and ensure you have room in your house where you can expand without things getting in the way. How are you going to be notified if something crashes or a power outage takes your setup offline? How are you going to know if a critical patch or major update is released?

Set a budget and know when to quit. It’s going to be awhile before you see ROI, so fight the urge to spend more to earn sooner. If the past is any indication, Chia will probably pay back the hardware costs after 6-12 months assuming a constant price and not overspending on hardware.

Hoping someone can explain. I’ve run Atheon with multiple teams and have had a recurring issue with super regen speed. There are times when I can get off 5-6 Blade Barrages easily. Other times I’m like to get 2. I’m running the same load out and mods each time (Breach and Clear, Ashes to Assets, Supercharged, etc). Does it have something to do with the relic? Placement during DPS? Anyone have any ideas? TIA.

Having now watched the video, it’s only possible with an SLKR that is lightning fast.
How fast? He has to be one of the Top 20 fastest SLKRs in the game! He has to be in the top .07% of all players who have an SLKR.

Now obviously people can mess with mods so that more top players could get close to that number. However, this isn’t like getting Piett over 300 speed i.e. he doesn’t even need a mod with a speed secondary over 20 to pull it off. Getting speed close to 600 on SLKR would be very hard for the majority of players.
The larger issue here is that speed is really the only stat that matters for 98% of the toons in the game. Mods were supposed to add customization/flexibility etc to rosters, but there is nothing to balance out speed.
You can counter high tenacity teams with potency
You can counter high offense teams with defense, protection, health
You can generate more TM or damage with a lot of toons using crit chance, etc
But the only counter to speed is basically JKL. There’s no mods to “slow the other team down.” There are certainly debuffs that help you try to slow a team down but that requires an action and successfully landing the debuffs.
Speed is a passive skill. It doesn’t require an action. Your toon just is faster. That’s why it breaks the raid (made it possible to solo other raids previously). Prior to JKL the ways to tune the game against speed were limited. You had:
Droideka (whose damage scales based on speed differentials)
Toons that take extra turns
Toon that call team attacks
Being able to slice mods even higher only make this problem worse. I’m sure if we ran the numbers, speed arrows aren’t being sliced up very high. Why? You know the cap is the 32 primary. Why waste rare materials to boost an inferior stat?
I don’t know what CG will do here, but I think the answer should be “nothing.” They designed an awful raid with artificial difficulty and its phase 1 was undone by a problem of their own creation.
There’s no cheat here. There’s no exploit.
It’s just exposing a massive flaw in the mod sets they developed.

At my current understanding simply lowering the voltage would be damaging to the motor. Is there a practical way to vary the speed or should I get used to the noise?
