A list of puns related to "Pericoronitis"
Hello there, I have had my wisdom teeth out for years now but Today I started having swelling of the flap that lies over the wisdom teeth (it was never removed) Iβm worried itβs Pericoronitis and Iβm not sure how to deal with it. Itβs Christmas Eve and I wonβt be able to see a dentist for a while. What can I do
I started feeling the symptoms of COVID on Dec 26th, and tested positive. On 29th Dec, I woke up with pericoronitis (lower left side). Knew it was this because I had it in March last year on the other side. I know itβs common to get pericoronitis following viruses etc.
I havenβt had antibiotics etc or seen a dentist, because Iβve been isolating. As my covid symptoms have improved, my pericoronitis has improved massively. However it has now been 7 days of pericoronitis and it is still there a tiny bit. Bought some corsodyl mouthwash and have rinsed with that this evening.
My question therefore is: is it normal for pericoronitis to take over 7 days to FULLY resolve?
Iβve had a lot of antibiotics in my time for other things and really donβt want to have to take them if possible, due to resistance worries etc. Metronidazole is also especially unpleasant anyway.
Just wondering if itβs normal for pericoronitis to still be present (albeit only at a tiny level) after 7 days? If so, roughly how long does it take to FULLY resolve?
Sorry if this is a silly question and I am so grateful for ANY answers :) Thank you in advance very much :)
Topic. I have pretty bad dental health for my age (24). I have a cavity on every tooth behind my canines, including my wisdom teeth. One of my wisdom teeth recently had a chunk of it break of due to a mixture between decay and pressure. Can this cause or accelerate pericoronitis? I think I may have it now.
I have been giving antibiotics from my dentist he gave amoxicillin and metronidazole, said it was the worse case he had seen in years. My question is how long until I can opening my mouth even half way? I can only open about an inch maybe inch n a half. Is this normal also?
I have had reoccuring infections of the gum which covers my partially emerged wisdom tooth (bottom left). Usually I have been able to get rid of the infection myself with salt water rinces and extra brushing but it came back about a month ago and I can't seem to shift it this time - inflamation is down but the smell is still there. Today I started having pain in my 2nd molar - the neighbor tooth to the inflamed wisdom tooth. The pain is an ache and worsens when I clench/grit my teeth together.
Can the existing pericoronitis infection/inflamation around the wisdom tooth cause this type of pain in the neighboring 2nd molar? Or is it more likely to be a seperate issue causing the pain in the 2nd molar?
How common is it to have operculitis with a molar that isnβt your wisdom tooth and not impacted? The gum flap over my 2nd molar on the bottom right side of my mouth is basically a big swollen bump that looks like a balloon thatβs about to explode. Iβm on day 4 of this and itβs super painful to the point I canβt chew. I went to the dentist yesterday and he lanced it and tried to get out as much pus as he could, and prescribed amoxicillin and told me to do warm salt water rinses at home. He said it was operculitis but that normally you would see this with impacted wisdom teeth.
I am not a smoker but I do have 4mm pockets around my molars in particular and the beginning of bone loss. My flossing habits are pretty much nonexistent so Iβm assuming thatβs what led to this. I ordered a Waterpik yesterday because Iβm much more likely to consistently use that everyday I think over regular floss.
I am a frustrated , tired , patient . I am so over it . In 7 months I got 20 fillings of which mostly deep ones and I also suffer from pericoronitis that flares up from time to time . Eating became impossible . The new dentist was able to save one of my teeth that was infected but I had to take antibiotics for weeks . Why was my mouth in such shape you might wonder ? Itβs not even my fault β¦ my old dentist was simply not capable of doing his job and ruined my mouth . I even thought about suing . He wasnβt able to properly diagnose cavities (my cavities are hidden cavities ) nor to properly clean them up (since he left cavities to rot inside my teeth ) . Also anesthesia doesnβt work well with me and most times I was screaming in pain because my tooth wasnβt anesthetized and I had to get more injections
I am so tired . This feels like a never ending story . I got my 20th filling yesterday and I still feel like this is not the end (I also have a cleaning session booked in October) Every time I look inside my mouth I still feel like something is off and I also started to get paranoid about every little spot or cervices I see . I just wish I could go one year without needing 4 anesthesia injections and 20 fillings done . I wonder if Iβll ever be able to live like that
Dentist can't see me for 2 weeks, Any help to stop my Pericoronitis from getting worse?
It's very painful and all im doing is taking painkillers.
So iβm 21F, i smoke occasionally, and this is the second time iβve had a gum flap grow over my wisdom tooth. the first time the dentist just cut it off and i was okay for about 6 months until now, where itβs almost more painful than it was the first time. dentist said iβll have to get it extracted after i take antibiotics for a week, but iβm a bit nervous and want to know if iβll need stitches after the extraction or not.
i know itβs not easy to tell without an x-ray but hopefully a photo will give a clearer picture and make answering my question a bit easier. https://imgur.com/a/akSeUrD
Is it best to avoid Brush my Pericoronitis, as it causes pain and could make things worse? Is brushing under my infected gum a good idea even though it causes great pain/ blood.
Can't see dentist for a few days.
Hi all,
I posted around three weeks back about a case of Acute Perocoronitis I'm dealing with and got some good advice as my dentist is notoriously difficult to get in touch with. I saw my dentist around two weeks ago and he suggested a wisdom tooth extraction as I would prefer not to take antibiotics. The pain went away over a week ago but the gum flap is still very swollen and doesn't seem to be shrinking, it also bleeds a lot when brushing in that area, I am being gentle when brushing. Any ideas why the gum flap would be so swollen still? Just seems a little strange after nearly a month. Thanks!
(M20 5β7β)Currently dealing with a bout right now, the pain is near constant and Iβm pretty sure I have a low grade fever. Iβve had it for 2 days now. I understand everyone experiences illnesses differently, but is pericoronitis a death sentence? Everything I read says it is amd that I should be prepared for meningitis or bacteremia. Anything helps thanks.
I have pericoronitis and I won't be able to go to the dentist until tomorrow at 4pm I can barely open my mouth and I have a bad headache and I have lock jaw I just don't want to die tonight and my anxiety is making it worse for me I'm sitting here crying so much will I be fine or should I go to the hospital
Fun Fact: The P verses NP problem can be summed up thus: "If the solution to a problem is easy to check for correctness, must the problem be easy to solve?" It is yet unsolved, though solving it and having your answer verified will net you a million dollars in prize money by the Clay Mathematics Institute. Either answer to the question will have implications on how one view's things: if an easily verifiable is not automatically an easily solvable problem, then research can be made more efficient by not focusing on completely answering problems from the get-go and instead focusing on how to solve problems partially (at first) and answering other problems before worrying about the full answer. If, however, it's true that an easily verifiable problem can automatically mean an easily solvable problem, it would mean that many once hard-to-solve computations can soon be made easy to solve given time and technology (though this also means that cryptography will have to be upgraded faster to be any worthwhile).
Optional Discussion Thread: How's your cooking?
Thank you in advance for your advice.
I have a wisdom teeth extraction scheduled for the 24th of June.
Last week, I began experiencing (manageable) tooth pain that extended from my jaw to the front of my bottom teeth. The pain went away relatively easily with saltwater rinse and advil. I have not had it since.
Over the weekend, however, I began to feel a different pain in the actual gum near my impacted/partially erupted wisdom tooth (see pictured). It hurts to spit out and to suck in. It is not terrible to the point that I can't complete daily tasks, however, it is certainly uncomfortable when I eat and brush my teeth.
Based on the photo and on my description, do you think that this infection is a reason to seek an earlier extraction date? Is there a possibility for it to subside in the next few days?
