A list of puns related to "Pantone"
Since 2000, Pantone has released a color of the year, like "Aqua Sky", "Mimosa", or "Living Coral". In typical /r/nfl offseason fashion, I was curious if I could find a correlation between Colors of the Year and colors of the Super Bowl Champions.
Thanks to the record-keeping at trucolor.net, I took down every Color of the Year and recorded its RGB values. For each color I checked which value (R,G, or B) was highest. Then I took the primary and secondary colors of the Super Bowl champions for that season (ex: for Color of the Year 2020, I took the 2020 Champion Bucs, etc.) and recorded the RGB values of both colors in order to see if one of them had the same highest color output as the Color of the Year. Here's what I found:
Pantone's Color of the Year vs. Super Bowl Champion's Colors
In every season since Pantone began naming Color of the Year until last season, the Super Bowl champion has had at least one of its primary or secondary color's highest RGB value match the value for Pantone....kinda. In some cases, like the 2006 Colts or the 2017 Eagles, there's a hit because their secondary color is black (1,1,1) or white (255,255,255) where all three RGB values are tied and therefore are technical each the highest value. Now if we remove the hits that occur solely due to black or white hitting we go from 20/21 hits to 15/21 hits. The 2009 Saints still hit because of high R value in their primary color. The 2003 Pats still hit because it'd be an otherwise empty spot.
Now the 2016 Patriots are an interesting case. Pantone named two Colors of the Year that year (Serenity and Rose Quartz). Still the Patriots managed to get a hit with both colors. This is especially useful when it comes to predicting the next Super Bowl winner because for 2021, Pantone again named two colors Color of the Year - Illuminating and Ultimate Grey.
Using the 2016 Patriots as the model, we're gonna require that a team gets a hit on both Colors of the Year. Illuminating's highest RGB value is its R value, while Ultimate Grey's is its B value. So the Super Bowl winner is most likely to be a team whose colors hit on one of each. Here's how each team stacks up:

They need event tickets printed that match their existing tickets that were printed using pantone colors. The original tickets were printed on uncoated paper. I was trying to see if I could even get our press to match pantone colors based on Photoshops conversion estimate of Pantone > CMYK.
A few were not terrible, but some were awful. Any tips on trying to print uncoated pantone colors as accurately as possible?
Hi everyone !

I am mailing worldwide so please just fill out the form.
Iβll send them out as soon as I can, but something tells me it will take awhile!
Thank you !
I am creating an identity for a start-up clientβso working from scratch. I started the process by choosing my colours from the AI colour picker and thought that I would just figure it out later. Now, I have most of the identity ready but I am struggling to find the matching Pantone colours to the ones I colour picked.
The only resource I have is a book from 1999 (Colour formula guide)...so obviously very outdated. I've also been playing around in the Pantone site using the "find a colour" tool but I don't even know which book to reference. My hunch is I probably want to work with uncoated cmyk? but there's so many different books and I am reaching a wall.
Please, help out a very frustrated new designer...
Thank you
Hey guys!
Just bought a brand new Aero 15 KC, iΒ΄ve been using it for days and I feel like there is a little bit slow and sometimes it freezes using Graphic Design apps.
I have readed that restoring Windows should work. Looks like the stock Windows by Gigabyte got lot of stuff and slows the computer.
Looks like some config like x-rite Pantone calibration may lose after the instalation of the new Windows. Some of you said to save the ICC file to put it again later. Actually i did not save anything and I think i lost all the configuration. Just for knowing... What should I do now?
From the begining what should I do to save all the config before restoring Windows to a clean version?
Thanks for your time guuuys and girls! :)
I'm doing design for apparel/clothing for my client and they're asking me to use a specific pantone color and I'm definitely using the exact color they're asking for in illustrator but they're still saying that it's the wrong color? Could it be possible that the monitor that they're viewing the design on has incorrect/different color settings
The pantone colors they're asking me to use are 158 orange and 357 green and for some reason when I'm in Illustrator and try to change the colors to those colors using the pantone guide, it appears washed out. Almost like a neon color. But when I color pick the color on the guide the client gave me, it shows as the correct color. I'm using the CMYK color mode. But I can't figure out what the problem is.
I have been crocheting loads of baby blankets and ended up with lots of half used balls of yarn thankfully all of the same weight/type. So decided to do mitred squares and crochet them together in the order of their shade. I used white yarn to link them together using a technique that makes it look like it is lace. I then crocheted a simple border and added a bobble edge. I am now in love with my blanket :)

Pantone just announced their colors of the year and while we all know this is a marketing stunt, I feel like they kind of got it this year. I genuinely thought it was going to be a dull beige because thatβs how Iβm feeling about the coming year so far. The combo does make sense in a metaphorical way - like the light at the end of the tunnel or the brightness in the gray that is going to be the next few months.
From the trend prediction standpoint, I think they got it right again. Yellow has been having a moment for sure - I for one have recently purchased yellow pants x2, yellow socks, a yellow throw pillow, and a couple of other yellow knick knacks. Grey has been crazy trendy for years, especially in the home design/decor sphere.
Thoughts? Do you love it or hate it? Are you going to incorporate these colors into your life or ignore them like the opportunistic capitalist cash grabs they are? Have you already incorporated them into your life/style/home?
I am trying to calibrate my monitors. I have tried going into the color settings of gnome settings and clicking calibrate on each of my monitors. However, despite going through the calibration menu with no issues and clicking Apply, nothing happens. Is there something I am missing here? Is there some other way I can calibrate my monitors?
