A list of puns related to "Overlordship"
Western Roman ambassador Romulus was told (from the perspective of the Huns) that Attila had the islands of the ocean in his domain. Considering the Huns come from the same area as the GΓΆkturks and were part of the Xiongnu empire, their government was much more centralized according to more recent scholarship. So how was overlordship conducted over the Vikings? Should we consider the connection of the Vikings and Odin of Turkland as narrated by Scandinavian historian and mythologist Snorri.
Outside of the Cato Institute (founded by the Koch brothers and Murray Rothbard), there are very few explicitly libertarian think tanks or research centres which have garnered large donations and funding from billionaires and other wealthy entrepreneurs.
Yet, surely if, as non-libertarians tend to suggest, libertarianism would lead to the dominance of society by large companies such as Amazon, Google, Apple etc, it would make sense for these same companies to be funding institutions which support a libertarian narrative?
Why arenβt Jeff Bezos and Elon Musk and Bill Gates using their huge platforms to bring people towards the ideals of libertarianism? Surely if the narrative around these people being crooked businessmen willing to lie and deceive the masses for the benefit of their bottom line is indeed true, they would have no issue with peddling libertarian notions of freedom, individual liberty, free markets, and so on and so forth, with the ulterior motive of consolidating their power over society.
The libertarian answer to these questions is that, in reality, libertarian societies would not consolidate the power of the incredibly wealthy, since competition and truely free markets are in fact the enemy of the dominant companies within our society. We would suggest that Jeff Bezos and Elon Musk would campaign against the rolling back of corporate regulation, as would large banks an financial institutions.
These companies and these individuals like having large swathes of regulation and a big government which can manipulate the economy, since they can use the large sums of money at their disposal to manipulate the policy makers into either putting artificial barriers to entry into their marketplaces, or outright outlaw competition altogether.
Iβm interested to hear what the socialist response is to this. Why arenβt large companies pushing for the rolling back of corporate regulation and shrinking the size of government, if indeed these changes would lead to the consolidation of power in their hands?
Really the same with Serbia but with Germany instead of Italy and Germany would probably also force France into their faction as an autonomous ally even if theyβre slowly breaking free
And also completely unrelated and a nitpick but a lot of places in the Reich and the RKs still have their native names even though they probably wouldβve been germanized
And itβs also really a nitpick but please change the β2nd armisticeβ for France to βtreaty of ...) since an armistice isnβt a peace treaty just an agreement to stop fighting while(usually) one is negotiated the state of war technically goes on on the mean time and while I can see Germany and Britain getting into some sort frozen conflict with an armistice but no peace treaty I canβt do that for France they basically wouldβve had to accept any peace treaty Germany forced onto them as they werenβt in any position to say no
I hope this doesnβt come off as too nagging as I really like this mod but thought these things didnβt make any sense i also apologize if my English isnβt 100% perfect
I have to finish the mission "Conquer the Georgians" that I must own all of the provinces in three regions, but I found that two provinces in the Imereti area are owned by my Timar Crimea. I cannot seize their land because the timar system doesn't let me do. And I don't want to start a war with my subject. Please tell me if there is a way that I can take their land peacefully.

This is a very specific question, and it's something I'm just getting into (looking to do a degree in Spanish/Russian, so currently very inexperienced with the latter), but would anyone happen to know anything about how the Mongol rule of Rus affected Old Church Slavonic (if at all)?
I would assume that the immunity and tax exemption granted to the Eastern Orthodox Church by the Mongols and the subsequent social power/prestige that developed from this would encourage linguistic conservatism within Old Church Slavonic, and a heightened importance for the language within Russian society, but I've not found much available information.
Apologies if my terminology's a bit off, and any/all regarding the language's development during this time would be helpful thanks.
I'm watching a Turkish movie about Mehmet II's conquest of Constantinople. In it, assistance from the Pope in the form of a Crusader army to defend the city comes with a price; the acceptance of the Vatican's religious authority. Basically less of a union with than an outright absorption of the Orthodox faith. One thing that stands out to me is that it clearly presents the notion that many people, clergymen, and even some nobles, found the idea of Turkish overlordship and their promise of freedom of worship, preferable to this union. I was very intrigued by this notion, but also very aware that a Turkish film about a Turkish hero might not be the best source, to say the least. It should be noted that this "Latin" assistance is presented as separate from, for example, Giovanni Giustiniani, who of course arrives to defend the city independently of the Pope.
As the title reads when i try to claim slovakia as Hungary the game fails to trigger the event both on Road to 56 and Vanilla. Is this bugged?
Ever since the advanced governments were released I have been exited about this one, something about having my nation be controlled by a super intelligence speaks to me your might say. But as I have been thinking about it I can't help but wonder how it will be implemented in the game.
All of the advanced governments we have heard about have ended up being direct upgrades from a basic government to an advanced one, like: Moral Democracy ---> Irenic Democracy. I don't think AI overlordship could really work like this though, first thematically, there aren't really any governments that we know of that would naturally transition into being ruled by a super AI. Science directorate would be the most natural choice of the ones we have and not only do they already have an advanced government that we know of, they are also lead by elected officials, not really following thematically into one AI leading forever.
Then there is also the balance factor. I propose that AI overlordship should be the best government type in the game if Paradox wants it to stay fairly realistic (as realistic as a game about space empires could be expected to be). Just think about it, if your empire is ruled by a super intelligence there should be some serious benefits over standers rule by one or a few people, the AI would conceivably be the best strategist, governor, scientist, diplomat, ever known. Not only that but it would also be able to focus on astronomically more things at once than a non-AI ruler or council could, it could simultaneously fly every ship in your fleet, administer all your planets, moniter and understand the motives behind ever person in your empire, control every automated system you own and give precise orders to the ones that are not automated. Even more than that, in the context of stellaris, your AI emperor would never die so it would continue to gain experience for the rest of the game.
How to balance a government form like that?
I believe that unless Paradox wants to miss-represent how powerful an empire lead by an all knowing immortal super intelligence would be (which would be really disappointing IMO), AI overlordship can't exist as a "normal" government because it should be op by design. In order to get around that, I suggest that it should be something that potentially any government, basic or advanced, can transition into but that going through the process of creating your new super intelligent leader should be difficult, and the transition into

Today the world is connected more than ever, but ironically, the vast swathe of information has overwhelmed us all. It is difficult to tell which sources of information are trustworthy, and which ones are, to borrow from the great philosopher Donald Trump, βfake newsβ. Thus, I believe that it is important for me to be transparent and begin this piece of writing with a disclaimer.
First of all, I am not a historian. My qualifications are in pharmaceutical science and I have a Mastersβ degree in Biomedical Engineering. That being said, I have had the chance to work for the Indonesian Embassy in Spain for a few years, and I am in regular correspondence with networks from the Indonesian Foreign Service. My day-to-day routine requires me to keep up to date with national and international politics, study foreign languages, as well as to continuously learn about history and culture.
Secondly, I may have a bias when approaching the topic of Sriwijaya, especially on the theme of religion, as I myself am a practicing Buddhist. A lot of my studies about this are motivated by a desire to study the Hindu-Buddhist heritage of my own country and to preserve it. Indonesian Buddhists of various ethnic backgrounds: Chinese, Javanese and Palembang-Malays are particularly proud of Sriwijaya's legacy, as we shall see later in Section 7 of my essay.
Third, I will only be relying on published books and research journals, which I will provide the links for (wherever possible) so that you may check them out for yourself. An exception will be made for a picture of the Borobudur temple, as well as some sources for Section 7 βThe Legacy of Sriwijaya Todayβ, as I will show some photos and videos of people in present-day Sumatra. I shall provide the original sources of those pictures/videos.
The goal of this essay is not to produce a peer-reviewed paper, but simply to provide you with some basic information about Sriwijaya. As such, my essay will be directed for a general audience and will skip some details for the sake of simplicity. I encourage you to give me feedback after you have read it and to point out mistakes

For context I'm a Refuse Driver (Garbage man) & today I was on food waste. After I'd tipped I was checking the wagon for any defects when I spotted a lone pea balanced on the lifts.
I said "hey look, an escaPEA"
No one near me but it didn't half make me laugh for a good hour or so!
Edit: I can't believe how much this has blown up. Thank you everyone I've had a blast reading through the replies π

Dad jokes are supposed to be jokes you can tell a kid and they will understand it and find it funny.
This sub is mostly just NSFW puns now.
If it needs a NSFW tag it's not a dad joke. There should just be a NSFW puns subreddit for that.
Edit* I'm not replying any longer and turning off notifications but to all those that say "no one cares", there sure are a lot of you arguing about it. Maybe I'm wrong but you people don't need to be rude about it. If you really don't care, don't comment.
