A list of puns related to "Music Area"
Hi im an 18 yr old experienced drummer/minorly experienced guitarist looking for people to play music with/make a band/jam
I can play just about any genre on the drums, and I can learn things on the guitar quickly, but my preference is loud and fast
i also have a practice space garage with no noise constraints
For example, when I broke up with my first and only girlfriend of 5 years, I didnβt even shred a tear. I felt some sadness but that would be expressed more internally as thought than anything else.
But when I watch/hear some music video or a certain song with lots of pure energy Iβll IMMEDIATELY start crying and feel so much overwhelming emotion. Itβs really incredible. Also makes me feel bad as to how Iβm not so emotional with something that close and more personal to me.
Anyone else relate?
Either old-school Exotica, Space-Age Bachelor Pad Music, Bossa Nova sorts of things or contemporary Downtempo, Chill, etc. Extra points for martinis.
Any kind of music really but I like Rap, Punk, Metal, and Indie
I'll be walking at a good pace just minding my own business, but then as soon as I realize I'm walking to the beat of the music I force myself to walk a different pace. Idk it just feels awkward, like I know people probably don't even notice but I don't want to look like I'm trying to dance while I'm walking lol
Idk if this breaks rules, so I'll just go for it. Man I'm sick of trying to talk to people about music only to get blank stares like they have no idea what's going on... I get thst sounded elitist... But it's fuckin depressing. Tried to show off a song I made to a buddy of mine and they said they liked it and that was it. I know I'm being a choosy beggar about it... But fuck man, some sort of stimulating conversation about it would be great! WHat did you like about it? What sounded off? Did it remind you of anything?
sigh thanks for listening
I'm having a little bit of culture shock because where (and when) I grew up, the wage I typically make in the average year would be considered "big money" and one could expect an $1100 apartment to come with some crazy amenities or a great view, or at least be in a really nice part of town, but the very patient folks on r/personalfinance informed me that in 2022, my salary is "poverty wages" and $1100 is "the hood". Tough pill to swallow, but here we are.
I live in New Orleans with my fiancee, we live in a 3BR apartment with two other couples and while it's semi-affordable as is, my fiancee doesn't want to live with roommates anymore. There's nothing wrong with our roommates, but it's strange to not be in control of any part of your own space. Prior to this we lived in Burlington, VT until we couldn't afford it anymore, and prior to that I lived in Western Mass until I couldn't afford it anymore, and prior to that I lived in a little fishing town south of Boston until, you guessed it, I couldn't afford it anymore. There's a pattern here.
Neither of us are trans but I have a rare and complicated genetic disease that affects my hormone production, and I've noticed that doctors that help people with trans issues are more likely to understand what I'm going through than traditional endocrinologists. There's a lot of "you need to learn to suck it up and deal with the pain" in healthcare in more conservative areas, whereas LGBT-friendly health professionals are more likely to try to come up with solutions tailored to the patient's comfort.
Neither of us loved Burlington (my fiancee absolutely hated the cold and the people, I didn't hate it but it wasn't my style, though I did love other Vermont towns), she really loves New Orleans, I don't like it much, I do appreciate the culture, but it's incredibly annoying to me that in New Orleans (or Louisiana in general) it's very difficult to find a doctor to prescribe HRT related medication, and when you do, the process is incredibly complicated. I also can't stand the summers here; I like to be outdoors a lot and it's too hot.
That all being said, we're looking for a place that's kind of nice, where we can 'settle down' and lock ourselves into a mortgage. We're completely fine living in a small town so long as it's not full of racists, and we're completely fine living on the 'wrong side of the tracks' so long as we don't have to hear constant gunfire or feel unsafe leaving our home. We'd like to be maybe 1-

Ok so to preface this I don't really mean not real music as I know that that can come off as incredibly elitist and even the crappiest song has some value or merit to it (maybe). I mean music that's just mostly, almost parody. Let me elaborate.
What I mean is when I first started listening to music I actually grew up in a fairly religious household so a lot of music was off limits to me (didn't have much access to internet as I had one hour of computer time a week, had no TV and never listened to radio). The only real form of entertainment I had access to was videogames for some weird reason. I guess my parents thought videogames were fine I don't know why.
This is where things got really bad. So since I only played video games the only real knowledge of popular culture I had came from there. And since I only liked games I naturally only wanted to listen to things that were connected to it. So the first couple songs I downloaded on the first music player I ever got were.... Minecraft parodies. I unironically only listened to songs like this.
It only got worse from there and my playlist pretty much only filled up with weird jokey parody songs or songs based around video games. League of Legends Parody songs (from Instalok and Badministrator). Fucking shit like this (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t4RxUixizpM) and more from Machinima. Or just really really dumb novelty songs like this portal song from college humour (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NggUSbgRUhc). Then add on top of that Video Game OSTs and Anime OSTs/Nightcore and you get the picture, an entire music playlist that pretty much solely revolved around pop culture (and not even all of it just ultra specific parts of it). I could not consume content unless it was somehow linked to something I already liked.
This lead to probably the most awkward memory. We're at high school summer camp, think I was about 16 at the time and one of the boys pulls out a speaker with a cord. I volunteer to play my music. The first three songs that play are TNT Minecraft Parody, Mine All Night and Angel With A Shotgun (Nightcore Version). One of them just gets up unplugs my iPod, puts his on and we listen to Skrillex for the rest of the night. My mates just tell me (not in a mean way just in like an awkwardly curious way), "wow you have a really weird taste in music".
After that embarrassing experience I realise that I
... keep reading on reddit β‘In the folk tradition, Iβm a lyrics-first kind of guy. Iβve recently started listening to Japanese rock and city pop, along with sons other French and Spanish stuff. Can anyone recommend some playlists with interesting/non western musical ideas that I can use to inform my songwriting?
Just moved here and Im an artist that makes hip hop/alternative rap music, and wondering if there is a music scene here? Also looking for similar artists or creatives to be mutuals, pm!
Looking to get into the studio to record music. Rock/alternative stuff. Does anybody know any good studios in the area that I should look into?
Gradually after living together they fall in love but the boy loses his passion after a while. At the end of the song, he slips on the floor of a swimming pool and hits his head, and it makes him remember his love for her and he run back to her while she was packing and hugs her.
hello everyone Im trying to find a good reputable school/private teacher in my area, wondering if anyone has any good experience with sax teacher in the NYC area, also let me know if there is a different sub I should post this in, thanks everyone
I have a Roland synthesizer (Juno-G) with an LCD screen that is no longer displaying anything, which I'd like to get fixed. It seems the only Roland service center in the area is Inner Sound in Clackamas, and they're only open Monday-Friday 10AM-4PM, which is when I normally work (so it could be difficult for me to make a special trip out there to drop it off/pick it up). I'm curious if anyone knows any good music keyboard repair shops in the area?
One place I found online is All Musical, but they have a lot of bad reviews and it seems a bit sketchy..
My friends and I live on the edge of Holylands towards botanic train station area. Every evening between 7.30-8pm we hear this very creepy sounding music in the distance that sounds like either a slowed down version of ice cream van music (which doesnβt make sense in the evening in December) or like a carousel in the kind of funfair youβd see in a horror movie. Are we going insane or has anyone else heard this? Does anyone know what it is?
The memory of this has been driving me mad, for years.
I grew up watching NYC-area PBS after school in the late 80s and early 90s - Sesame Street, 3-2-1 Contact, Mr. Rogers, Reading Rainbow were the big 4.
Each of these shows (or sometimes the between show breaks) sometimes included video clips from other external PBS or public domain videos
I am looking for a specific one of these clips that has been stuck in my head for years. It featured primitive 3d video graphics - a pock-marked asteroid rotating in space, some leotard-wearing dancers doing spins and flips that were stop-motion composited and overlayed into new geometric shapes. There was a "Dr who wormhole" -like effect behind these graphics, and perhaps some vector graphics - spinning rectangles or the like.
I'm interested in this because it was the single video that shaped my love of video art, glitch art and the absurd. It was formative.
HELP! TIA!
