Which varieties have you grown locally and had good luck with? It's time to plant.
So, I’m a cocktail bartender and somebody had given me an idea a while back that I want to try. In the US south, there’s a trend where chefs will move here and sort of “chef up” southern food. So why not try the same thing with cocktails. I’m looking to make a vermouth from muscadine wine which is a southern staple. And I know thats not very traditional but my question is, where do I start? What botanicals would be good? Should I look for a drier wine base or is sweet okay?
I've got some wild muscadines in my freezer that have been waiting for me to have a few cold and rainy days off and the time has come. My question is should I treat them like a normal grape? I've seen a recipe for specifically muscadines and scuppernongs that requires no added pectin but I'm worried about ruining the batch since I've never made jelly that way. What do y'all do with the purple gold? Is something like preserves or jam possible?
Does anyone have grape and muscadine vines and willing to sell cuttings? Must know the variety.
I’ll be bottling my muscadine wine soon and was wondering if there is a consensus as to how sweet it should be or what level of sweetness is typical.
Was thinking about 5% after doing some reading but I honestly don’t know how sweet that would taste.
The season is coming up quickly, where can I buy some? Not interested in picking them or buying the vines, which is all I seem to see available online.
Been using ec Krauss and haven't gotten consistent results.
Anybody swear by Krauss anyway or have another better recipe?

I'm looking for cocktail ideas involving fresh muscadines. A friend of mine has muscadine vines in his backyard, and I've just picked 20lbs of fresh muscadines. I'd be remiss if I didn't find a way to incorporate the flavor into a cocktail.
Wondering if anyone has ever made a muscadine cocktail or has a favorite muscadine cocktail recipe?
