A list of puns related to "Makahiki"
Aloha and Hau'oli Makahiki Hou (Happy New Year) to you all!
Hope you survived last year as best you could and wish nothing but the best for all of you for 2022.
This year has started off with a tremendous bang for me thanks to winning a challenge right here on /r/AwardBonanza so I would like to attempt to give back to the sub by trying my own simple challenge(s).
Rules of Reddit and /r/AwardBonanza apply of course.
Mods have final say.
The challenge is simple:
The first user to correctly explain the meaning of my username, wins one (1) gold award.
It has to be exact, so I'll provide one clue:
It's four words and all four words must be exact!
Good luck!
Contest ends when first persons guesses correctly.
EDIT: I forgot to say, you can guess as many times as you want and this is open to all users
HINT: GECKO is the 2nd word of the four! ( x GECKO X X)
WE HAVE A WINNER! /u/Jet_The_Tabaxi ~ A GECKO IN HAWAII
According to Google, Makahiki (the start of the Hawaiian new year) starts on November 22, 2021 this year. According to a friend who tracks this (I am not an expert), the star cluster that marks the start of Makahiki is today. IΚ»ve read that for us on OΚ»ahu, our Hawaiian New Year starts when the star cluster MakaliΚ»i rises above PuΚ»u o Mahuka Heiau, as seen from Kaena Point. May this new year bring the kind of journey you seek.
I'm visiting in September and am really looking forward to my trip. This will be the first time my wife and I have gone to Hawaii and we couldn't be more excited.
We're big foodies, and so far looking on the Aulani website we've been left a bit underwhelmed at it's current offerings. Makahiki's buffet looked incredible but since it's reopening during covid they've removed it and replaced it with a pre set 3 course option, which doesn't look all that interesting for the price.
Is this a permanent change? Or will the buffet come back? Hoping someone here has the inside scoop.
The Fraternal Order of Moai have brought Makahiki back. This year itβs at the inferno Room, this Saturday, September 11th.
tickets are still available,
Has anyone done this recently? How is the set up with characters? Do they walk around the tables and can you take photos with them?
We are going to Aulani June 11-19, I would like to make reservations for the character breakfast on the 14th, the concierge said they do not accept reservations before 30 days. Has anybody else had this problem? Any help would be appreciated!
Societies fall and are rebuilt. On this planet, it's a cycle as natural as the sun and the moon and the waves. And it's as undeniable as gravity.
Best of luck to us all.
I have not been around for awhile but I wanted to wish everybody a very happy new year. β₯ I hope that you are all doing well, and want to wish you good health, happiness, prosperity, and aloha for you and for those you care about. I have not been making videos for quite a long time, so I am not sure if it will be okay for me to post here like this.. but I do want to wish you all the best. I hope 2015 is a very active year for this community because I do love it so. βͺ
Wishing you love and aloha. β₯_β₯
My wife and I are visiting Hawaii for the first time in September and we are so excited to be staying at Aulani. We were really looking forward to the buffet at Makahiki (crab legs!!) but since covid they have gone to a pre set 3 course meal, which I've heard really is pretty awful for the price.
Does anyone have an inside scoop on whether or not Makahiki plans on returning to normal operations with the buffet?
