A list of puns related to "Maintenance, Repair And Operations"
General question, as such I know there will be a range of answers. But when you hear of βmetal fatigueβ or βstressed itemβ on a plan that may need to be looked at before flying.
Where is it typically? And how long does it take to do the necessary maintenance to repair?
Good morning everyone, long time lurker that has finally found a niche that I think Iβll enjoy. The main reason for this is wondering what I can offer in the winter months to keep a little business going. We have a solid 5 month winter here and need to keep a little cash flowing in. Thanks
I changed from my old grandma bike to a mtb a month ago and Iβm really happy.
Iβve never maintained a bike before or changed an inner tube ect.
Iβve found some YouTube videos and a book that explain everything in theory.
Do you generally have tips? And what material should I use? I do some embroidery as another hobby and floss brand is really important for the quality. Is it the same for bike parts?
I would like to start by changing the tubes and tyres of my old bike. It also needs new braking pads. I thought if I fail completely it wonβt be to big of a loss.
I donβt know anyone who could help me. Do you think itβs doable for a beginner?
I received my Unicool T9 3 months ago from Alibaba about 3 weeks ago. I'm planning to have a full write-up on the experience and quality once I have a little more time riding it.
There are a few adjustments that I need to make to to it and unfortunately it doesn't come with a particularly detailed manual. While I could probably figure it out through trial and error, I thought I'd see if those more mechanically inclined could help me out.
Note: Some of these things may have been the result of a fall I had on my first ride. A pedestrian stepped off the curb on the far intersection, and while I had tightend the adjustable handlebars some, it wasn't enough for a 15-0 braking. They dropped and I went over the front, fortunately I was down to a low speed at the time. Then the guys buddy asked me if I could spare some cash. (Don't ever change, Philly.)
Anyway, the issues in order of annoyance are:
The kickstand no longer attaches. The holes appear to have stripped, unless there were just nuts on the inside of the deck that they have detached from. Unlike other fittings on the scooter, the holes appear to have been drilled separately after production. Would I be able to just drill two new holes without causing trouble?
The Left handle bar rotates. This is independent of the red locking sleeves used to fold down the handlebars. If I torque it towards me, they will lock, but that places the already installed grips at a awkward angle. Tightening the two hex screws closest to it on the handle stem does not seem to affect it. The right handlebar is very tight and is not an issue.
The handlebars are slightly canted. I.E., to have the wheel straight, they are not fully perpendicular to the front wheel. Nothing appears to have been bent in the frame. Not sure if loosening the main bolts on the stem would allow adjustment
There is a bit of stem wobble. I know that is common to the model, but if anyone has any suggestions has to how to minimize it, that would be appreciated.
Thanks
I'm a newbie with questions. Aside from the regular maintenance of replacing the string and cables every few years, what parts will need to be replaced in the long term? I've heard of bearings and limbs, which I presume are cam bearings. As far as limbs go, are they somewhat standardized so you can get aftermarket replacements or is it finding a used bow to salvage parts from? Can they be repaired?
I'm not suggesting that I'll shoot enough to wear one out, just a curious thought for people with older or well used compounds that may be losing their strength and fall under the hunting requirements, etc.
I am an avid bicycle rider, but I'm pretty clueless when it comes to maintenance and repair. With my rides getting longer and an interest in some unsupported bicycle touring I am now wanting to be more self sufficient with the mechanical component and not have to rely on bike shops. I'm looking for a very beginner course. I've never even changed a bicycle tire or chain before. Once covid settles down what course would people recommend? I've seen ones through Mike's bikes and beans, MEC, bike edmonton, revolution, etc.

Bought a 16ft canoe used and was looking to get some maintenance/minor repairs done to it. All the boat repair places I've called don't service canoes. So any help or suggestions is appreciated!
Here's my conundrum: to save money, I want to drive my vehicle into the ground before getting a new one, but I'm wondering if the expense of keeping it on the road is going to drive my finances into the ground first. I've scoured the web to try and find expense benchmarks that would indicate it's time to ditch a vehicle, but the estimates on a reasonable annual spend are so far removed from my reality. Several Canadian websites suggest if you're spending more than $1000 a year on maintenance it's time to trade in. I've never come close to spending that little either on this or previous vehicles. Am I spending too much?
Here's my cost breakdown:
Purchased 2010 RAV4 beginning of 2015 for $13,450 at 116,000 kms ($5-$7k below comparable vehicles at the time due to hail damage). Paid $1,250 in car loan interest because I couldn't afford to pay for it outright, for a total vehicle cost of $14.7k.
During that time, I've spent $19k on service and repairs (including almost $5k replacing the transmission recently), $2k on tires, $1.5k on body and glass work due to an accident, and $700 on accessories (bike rack, ski rack), for a total of $23k.
I've clocked almost 184,000 kms nosing me over 300,000 on the odometer, and costing me $22k in gas and $15k in insurance over 6 years.
This puts me at repair and maintenance cost of $0.13 per km, and all-in cost (vehicle purchase, maintenance, gas and insurance) of $0.41 per km. I'd love to get at least another 100,000 kms out of the vehicle, but at these averages, that's going to be sinking a minimum of $13,000 more into the RAV4 in maintenance and repair. Am I throwing money into a hole on four wheels? Would that be better spent on a newer vehicle?
Your advice and insight is much appreciated.
EDIT:
I've had a few questions about the nature of the maintenance and repairs and the vehicle itself. It's a 2010 RAV4 Base AWD 4 cylinder. Here are the itemized repairs:
2015 (42,000kms, $1400 in service and repairs):
Cabin Air Filter, Transmission Oil top up, Oil Change x3, Replace front brake pads and rotors, new battery and wipers, Tire change x3, windshield chip repair
2016 (30,000 kms, $3200 in service and repairs):
Rear differential coupling and pinion seal replaced, rear wiper motor repaired, oil change x2, tire change, replace engine coolant, replace brake fluid, replace wiper blades, replace transmission fluid, replace rear differential oil, replace transfer case oil, crankcase cleaning, replace rear b
... keep reading on reddit β‘https://www.ishtar-collective.net/records/maintenance-operations-log-30037#saint-14So first of all, this lore was released back in season of the worthy and it directly connected at the end to a cutscene that you would see if you went flawless in trials on week 1 where Osiris and Saint were saying goodbye to each other as Osiris was yeeting off to do whatever he was doing while Saint was supposed to run trials.
https://youtu.be/PS7LR8tjCsM?t=40 Osiris reflection in lighthouse, talking with Saint before yeeting off.
Now why is Operations log so interesting?
First thing first, Osiris already tells Saint to try to get along with house of light. Quick reminder this is all YEAR prior to events of current season:
[u.2:06] Have you spoken to the House of Light, like I asked?
[u.1:07] I would rather not speak with Fallen.
[u.2:07] They may need our help. Their cause is just.
[u.1:08] What happened to βtrust no one?β
[u.2:08] What happened to your sense of right and wrong, hero?
[u.1:09] That is the Cityβs word, not mine. And the people still remember when I defended its borders from those very Fallen.
[u.2:09] Our kind live for a very long time, Saint. Too long to bear grudges.
[u.1:10] These accolades I wear are a reminder of what we lost to get here.
[u.2:10] I think those who gave them to you would be disappointed to hear that.
[u.1:11] I had nearly forgotten that you finally asked about them.
[u.2:11] We live too long for regrets. You taught me that. Donβt forget the House of Light.
Directly what follows is what I'm not sure is elaborated on further but Osiris mentions usage of not echoes but reflections in Sundial, casually dropping that those are reserved for Taken Kings:
[u.1:12] If I can find the time, yes. Not all of us conjure Echoes.
[u.2:12] Reflections, Saint. I have no need for Echoes anymore.
[u.1:13] What do you mean? Whatβs the difference?
[u.2:13] One is a manifestation of Light. The other⦠reserved for Taken Kings. Better suited for traversing the Sundial because of what lies at its core.
Kinda interested in some productive conversation on this lore book, sorry ahead of time if people already analyzed this, just thought it was interesting given current developments and i somehow remembered that week 1 trials I saw on stream Osiris going somewhere from lighthouse when Jake got
