A list of puns related to "Language Extinction"
Crosspost from ASL/r
I need help preserving this language. Specifically, a method to automate downloads.
I took a course over a decade ago on the Ainu language, which is the language of the native people of Northern Japan, and found it extremely fascinating. The instructor was one of the few people preserving the language and had thousands of audio and video files of the spoken language. The language has no written form (with the exception of a modified version of modern Japanese) so I believe the audio and video files are extremely valuable to preserve. I reached out to the instructor a couple of years ago and she said the files were archived, but not easily accessible, so was unable to share them with me.

So instead, you need to NOT click that box on the previous page, but click on the button that says, "Show more". Then copy the file handle link, which is http://hdl.handle.net/2196/00-0000-0000-000F-8887-3/ Only then can you download the file.
As you can imagine, this will be very time consuming if I have to d
