A list of puns related to "La Tène Culture"
I keep coming across these names, but find it hard to understand what they mean. When was a culture Hallstatt and when was it La Tène and why?
Ok, when researching brythonic and pictish swords and only those swords, I came across the embelton sword, but I noticed it had a clear object in it, instead of something organic like wood or something of that nature. I was wondering was the sword found like that with the translucent (probably glass) object in it? Also, does anyone know where the red and green gem would be placed on it like it is said by some people?
Here is the link to the sword in question:

Also, another question, would anyone know the name of this type of la tène sword hilt? I will link the image (It's the black one, and to a small degree the one on the left of it):
https://pin.it/fs2iqhaotexkpo
It has been bugging me out for along time, because we see the other hilts get replicas in sword shops, and the famous anthropomorphic MAN hilt, but never of the sword hilt like the black one or the one to the left of it. The most we get is the one from cult of a athena, but I want one more historically accurate to the one in the image I linked, NOT made out of rubber, and having a blade length more like the one on the far right in the image with the black hilted sword, but have a blade shaped like the one on the direct left of the black hilted sword, but still be very narrow and straight like the black hilted sword.
And as some youtubers suggest for best at being battle ready, and able to sustain a fair amount of stress, type of blade, they suggest a type of spring steel which would make it seem like it would last longer for actual combat purposes.
But yeah, identifying these things about these two brythonic sword handles would be great!!!
Hey AskHistorians, I grew up a big fan of the comic book series Asterix and Obelix and I am now doing a research project on La Tène archaeology (as I have read Gallic archaeology is encompassed in the La Tène material culture). I'm wondering if there are any particularly interesting facets of the culture which the amateur observer may overlook? Thank you for reading, I appreciate all responses.
I just finished my first semester of college. Since im gonna be here for 4 years I thought I’d start learning about the place. What’s the best way to learn about the culture of LA? If it helps, im up in Pasadena.
Pretty much what the title says. I've been playing with this idea in my head for years now, what if humanity were to be taken over (in a benevolent fashion) by some superior being that guided our development and behavior towards each other (and the environment). I've mentioned the books I've read that delves into similar themes, I've done some googling to no avail. Any help would be highly appreciated. I'm specifically looking for books that look at the cultural shifts
Reality is gang culture has been so dynamic in LA and the cycle of violence, culture and territory due to how the city was structured, redlined and segregated. The geography and history of LA makes it a city that is unique and ironically allowed gangs to thrive. Gang banging is a culture in Los Angeles above anything. Unlike other cities across america where drug trade or poverty are the reason for violent crime, Los Angeles although it has both, is unique because gang culture and gangs aren't purely the result of economic distress.
LA is the poster child city for Latchkey kids who turned to gangs. Black families that migrated from the south and built businesses and thrived with factory jobs, side hustles and entreprenuership was the reason for LA being the promise land for many black Americans migrating from the south and mid west.
Although poverty exists in Los Angeles immensely. Many gang neighborhoods aren't necessarily poverty stricken and many notorious gangsters didn't grow up poor. A lot of the most notorious turfs are middle class neighborhoods
Examples: Monster Kody, Lil Caesar (Inglewood Families), Lil Sodi, Keitaroc etc.)
Here's some examples of reputable known Gang Members/ OG's explaining that they did not grow up poor and poverty was not the reason they joined gangs.

Moving to LA in the new year after living in NYC for almost a decade and wondering what the rave culture there is like compared to NYC? Visited a ton for work but rarely had a chance to get out and get a true sense of it. I do some DJ'ing just for fun on the side too and would love to still grow when I am out there.
Any insight you can give to a nervous raver whose starting over in a sense would be so appreciated! Thanks friends <3
I watched the reaction to Crip Mac and i have to say I’m a little disappointed with Ethan and the crew, palabra! I thought most of you foos were from LA! No big deal, the homie Sharky is here to break it down! Keeping it Folsom Street!
I’m a Chicano, Boyle heights boy born and raised. I have no affiliation to any of the gangs you discussed… black ones anyway…
Snoo is a diss towards Hoover Crips that kick it on the south side. Homie Mac said at the beginning He’s a “Neighborhood Crip” that’s another set.
Bloods and Crips pretty much go at it with each other and other sets of the same gang. Some sets are offshoots, while others only claim the name crip/blood but are totally separate.
It’s a little different than Chicano gangs, I could break that down too if you foos care to know!
