... keep reading on reddit β‘I currently self catheterize to fully empty the bladder in the morning and night. But I also wear incontinence underwear due to constant bladder and bowel leakage. Urologist recommended a permanent catheter. Would a Foley catheter be better in my situation? Itβs a big step and Iβm mostly independent but itβs getting tiring to transfer out of the wheelchair to change multiple times a day. Iβm also worried that bowel leakage will cause infections .
''The Name that Resounds in You Without Being Uttered is Your Own Indwelling Spirit! If you were to run in the quest of something else without regard for or belief in it, would that make any sense?"
This is simple genius from Nisargadatta, I feel like this is a question we should all dwell on if we wish to awaken or find peace of mind.
Does it make any sense for us to continue disregarding and lacking belief in the indwelling spirit within ourselves and continue to seek outside of ourselves for answers. Does it make any sense for us to disregard or lack faith in ourselves? Absolutely not!
The power is within you and not outside of you. Do not look outside, look within, look towards that which is soundless, nameless, invisible and formless. The Treasure and Grace you seek, The Kingdom of heaven you seek, is within you.
'The Awareness of Your Being is the Treasure of the Formless Supreme Spirit!' - Nisargadatta
u/indwellings I received your card at the end of July, thank you so much for your birthday wishes and the lovely card all the way from Singapore! Im from Malaysia and normally my mail reaches my parents in 2 weeks, but lately it's taken 4 weeks.. im guessing they're quarantining mail too before delivering them out?? haha
u/karenlui : Thanks for the card with all the ingredients for the dish "Nasi Karabu": the card is fun and cheerful, I have never been able to eat this plate, but the recipe seen on the Web attracts me a lot: I hope to be able to taste it at some Malay restaurant in the my city.
u/indwellings : Thanks for the nice and original postcard with the snow. Even in my reaction, snow has become rare in recent years due to climate change; until about ten years ago it snowed several times a year on the nearby mountains, this year it snowed only once, but not in the city. Thanks also for the curious facts about Singapore that I enjoyed reading. Thanks again
u/panpantastic : Thank you for the card on the occasion of salam aidilfitri: very kind graphically with sweet colors, beautiful images and very graphically beautiful. This card is really beautiful. Thank you also for the amazing envelope with eight beautiful stamps from Malaysia, full of colors: I collect stamps and this envelope is very rated (I will put in the collection of the most beautiful that I received).
u/SatanekoChan : Thank you for the nice card full of cheerful colors and for the very nice and pleasant envelope. I very much enjoyed the poetry of Sappho, a poet I studied at school and I have always liked. She also made me happy to meet a fellow countryman on Reddit; thanks again.
u/trishulvikram : Thanks for the card with such a beautiful picture of the sarmentosum pepper leaves: a fascinating plant for the green that is meant by the leaves and that you are starting to find in my country as well. A card that I read a lot.
Hi all, I use indwelling catheters due to adhesive allergies, and I tend to block frequently which as you know requires a RN to change. It's a massive hassle I could do without esp. at 3 am in the morning. Has anybody been trained to change there own indwelling caths? Just trying to find out if its a realistic option
thanks
u/kweenllama (x2) I wanted to let you know your mail reached me within pride month, I've just been rather tardy with Thank yous! Both cards you drew were absolutely amazing and totally blew me away, they totally lifted my day when I opened your mail and again when I sat down to finally write the thank yous! Far from the first one being a botched attempt, it really gives me Life is Strange: True Colours vibes and I love both of them so much. We do celebrate pride in Singapore with this event called Pink Dot but it's both a picnic as much as a protest because LGBTQ+ rights arn't where they ought to be in this day and age yet. Still, it's a nice month to acknowledge and celebrate it, even if it's just with likeminded people and not something city-wide!
u/TheFeistyFox Thank you for the breakfast card! I agree so much that online events just tend to feel like meetings, sometimes. I hope work events can be a thing again soon!
u/indwellings hello again neighbour! I've been well behind on your thank you but it was sweet of you to send me another card of the UK! That's hilarious how your phone got lost and returned in India, though probably not so much at the time! It certainly makes for a memorable anecdote now though :)
u/indwellings - Thank you so much for the Macbeth postcard. I've never read it before but now I will! I also haven't been to Ladakh but friends of mine have visited and they say it is absolutely divine! I'm glad you had a wonderful experience β£οΈ
u/vmiko - Thank you for this Vintage Tea House card! I love the red and yellow lights decoration π
u/Ohio_Geo - Thank you sooo much for your Motivational Card and other goodies! And I agree with you that this subreddit is one of most wholesome communities out there. I'm glad to be a part of it as well! π
Note : If you are on Instagram and would like to be tagged in your cards, let me know and I will :)

Honestly might be my favourite album of all time across any genre. This album does not have a single flaw. Every track is perfect. Chaos in music form. Untouchable.
I am a CNA taking care of an 86 year old man. He has recently had an in dwelling catheter due to not being able to void his bladder. He had a recent visit to urologist with lab tests and we are waiting on results. He has a UTI and blood in the urine which the doctor is aware of.
Tonight, I went to check the catheter and noticed it was leaking and the leak seemed to be coming from the point of insertion. I noticed no urine was going into the bag even though he had drank some water earlier. It has now been a couple hours and there is no urine in the bag but the catheter is leaking still. He is not complaining of any pain.
He has a visit to the doctor in the morning, do you think it would be safe to allow it stay the way it is until morning when he sees his dr? Or is this urgent enough for the ER? His wife is adamant that he does not go to the ER and she will not call paramedics and wants to take him herself if he has to go, but she is also elderly, tired, and currently sleeping.
I appreciate any advice. Thank you.
A point was raised on another post, and I didnβt want to derail a young personβs earnest question with a tangential theological debate, so here goes. I think we should stop saying, βItβs not a sin if ___.β
Suppose a young family man goes to a work party at a downtown restaurant, and a colleague also there is stabbed with a needle containing powerful drug, and in a trance, the coworker grabs a policemanβs gun, and kills the family man. Then itβs learned the drug person was needle-stabbed as a young person (before the Baptistβs βAge of Accountability,β say) while walking on the street, and became addicted and homeless. With further exploration, thereβs been a century of this cycle, of drug addicts stabbing passers by.
Now a young pastor is writing a sermon for the first family man, and is about to use the word, βsin.β His supervisor, educated by this sub, says, βitβs not a sin to kill someone if you were involuntarily stabbed with psychoactive drugs and a policeman whoβs had a bad day makes honest mistake about holster safety. Talk about Godβs will instead.β THEN the coworker goes in for counseling, and says, βI took a life.β Minister says itβs not a sin if not voluntary, so I wonβt accept confession, move along.β Likewise, there cannot be any discussion of the effect of βsinβ on the community, because no blood from cross ever covered anything: we are only seeing inevitable consequences, except maybe there was sin in that first guy 100 years ago who willfully chose laudanum for fun.
IN SUMMARY, I think we too often take off our Christian theology hat, and put on an Ethics hat. If the person asking for advice had been faced with a difficult choice, and makes the ethical choice you would have, you tell them there was no sin. The problem, IMO, is that weβve changed βsinβ from being βa violation of Godβs lawβ to βan active choice that sends even the saved person to hell, separates them from love of God, plucks them out of Jesusβ hand, condemns us, etc.β We canβt deal with the sinner having indwelling sin of Romans 7 type, so we reduce the list of commandment-violations to be those we can be really indignant about. But families are still weeping, cities are still broken. In contrast, Godβs grace in the Old Testament believed involuntary sins were so important there were physical, visible mechanisms set in place for involuntary manslaughter. Cities of Refuge.
When taking a sample from an arterial line. Should you inject the deadspace and blood aspirated back into the patient after taking the sample? Iβve heard conflicting things from different people
