The only two colonial primary sources of the event, written by Edward Winslow and William Bradford, were lost during the eighteenth century, which contributed to the historical obscurity of the event, and its lack of cultural recognition outside the New England states. I will be drawing on these two primary sources throughout this post, as well as on mainstream scholarly commentary.

The secular festival myth

One common belief is that the 1621 meal was not actually a Christian thanksgiving to God, but was actually a simple meal with which the Pilgrims thanked the local Wampanoag people for helping survive. [1] From a slightly different perspective their 2001 book The Times of Their Lives: Life, Love, and Death in Plymouth Colony, James and Patricia Deetz similarly make the claim that since the Winslow account of the 1621 meal “makes no mention of thanks”, it is “not close enough for us to see the event as the “first Thanksgiving”. [2] Instead, they characterize it as an English harvest festival, of no religious significance.

Historian Jeremy Bangs, who has specialized in the study of the Pilgrims, takes issue with this conclusion, considering it badly founded on insufficient evidence. [3] He points out that even if it was a harvest festival, such occasion were certainly not secular, and were accompanied by prayers. He notes that the Book of Common Prayer the Pilgrims would have taken them from England, actually contains a prayer specifically for a harvest thanksgiving. [4]

Additionally, Bangs observes that Winslow’s thanksgiving account “includes biblical phrases referring to texts whose completion includes thanksgiving”, which would certainly have been known by the other members of the community, and recognized as part of the meal’s fundamentally religious character. [5]

I am having serious performance issues with my computer GF65 Thin 9SD:

•intel(R) Core(TM) i7-9750H CPU @2.60GHz

•NVİDİA GeForce GTX 1660 Ti

•16gb ram

•512gb SSD

•144 Hz screen

(I dont know what to write else if you tell me I can find tho) The issue I am getting is low fps on games even when I use turbo mode or sport mode

-BF5 (normal graphics 15-20 fps)

-minecraft (40 fps)

I dont know if these fps are normal but I am sure I was getting 60-70 fps few mounths ago. The computer is not old I brought it on july its like 6 mounths or something. and I have so less information about these computer statics I just know the basics like which gpu is better which cpu is better(I am also using a cooler)

I have tried so much things to improve performance, lowered the graphics on NVDİA control panel to the lowest as I can , lowered the graphics on games to the lowest(BF5 for example) watched so many videos, downloaded latest versions of drivers(intel graphics , NVİDİA graphics or whatever) Nothing changes in fact I feel like its gettin worse

I dont know if this is normal or not as I sad I have so much less information about computers. and if this is normal do you know how can I improve this at least

I find the problem. the problem is CPU GHz is stuck at 2490-2495 and no mather what I do its not increasing or decreasing. yes I tried disableing turbo mode, changing throddlestop options, undervolting, overclocking, its just not changing anything. I have given up but if you have any advice please feel free to share it I am always here. Also I want to thank you all for helping me and find the problem I am really glad you helped me.

Problem Solved!!!! I knew I did something wrong. so I changed a setting months ago to increase performance but turns out I made it worse. I opened run>msconfig>boot>advenced options> and number of processors was set to 6 so that was the problem and I undo that tick and then yes problem solved. now all 6 cores are working, previously only 3 of my cores were working. Now I get 4000 Mhz so easily thank you all for helping me. İf you have any questions I can answer any of them I am always here

There are four or five school times in a school year when a boy wants to get out of bed, and this Monday morning is one of them. We’re going on the graveyard fieldtrip today. The school doesn’t take us there for the “here lyeth ye body of” inscriptions on the headstones, the winged skulls carved above by hands so severe that we wonder how our ancestors could have found the promise of eternal life in their hollow eye sockets, or the wounded relevance of the historical figures buried below. We go there to be initiated into the mysteries. We go there for the raw grave.

Both are leading theories. Both are wrong. There’s something here beyond witches and vampires.
